EOTD: Autumn Green and Gold...

Have you ever been through Priceline withdrawal? I tell you it's one of the worst things imaginable for a beauty product fanatic like me. I moved house nine months ago, secure in the certain knowledge there was a store within 10 minutes of my new abode...only to discover (after moving in) that it had closed down - gaaaahhhhh! The nearest one is 45 minutes away, and in the opposite direction to where I normally shop. And yes I know they have an online store, but it's not the same blissful experience as being on the spot to rummage through throw-out bins, swatch samples, and take advantage of unpublished bargains...

So then a couple of weeks ago, an opportunity arose to return to my old neighbourhood, and joy of joys, I had 25 minutes to spend in my favourite Priceline. As soon as I walked in, I was "in the zone", working my way up and down the aisles, running my beauty-starved fingers and bargain-focussed eyes over the familiar stands. Armed with a basket, I turned a corner and spotted..."the bin" - chock full of these cute little Maybelline single eyeshadows, marked down to...$1.50!

Because of my limited time (and four more aisles to explore), I only grabbed three of these little gems, but what a gorgeous three they are. You'll be seeing the pink and the purple (OMG the purple is to die for!) in the not too distant future , but here's the green - it doesn't have a name, only a number, 741.

It's a beautifully creamy and surprisingly pigmented shimmer that's an almost perfect match for my eye colour, and the timing couldn't have been more perfect to add it to my collection with Autumn looming on the horizon...

I used FOA Budge Proof Eyeshadow in Poison Ivy as a base over most of the lid, and MNY Color Tattoo in Bold Gold on the inner corner, overlaid with a shimmery white/gold shadow from the MUA Blue Babe palette. In the crease is matte forest green from the NYX Bohemian Chic palette, and I lined the waterline with Mirenesse Face Gel Colour in Emerald...

These little baby pans would have to be one of the best value buys around. Of course I'm kicking myself for not snaffling one in every colour, although the others were not what I normally go for - creamy neutral shades, but there was one pale pink, and yet surprisingly, not one blue...

Still I'm thrilled with what I scored, and my basket was filled with an assortment of cant-buy-them-anywhere-else products by the time I hit the checkout. I've no doubt my "fix" won't placate me for long, and having been reminded what a delight Priceline is, I'm already planning to make the 45 minute journey to my local - but I'll make sure I have at least an hour set aside to explore my favourite playground :-)

Take care of you,
kats xxx

  1. Priceline withdrawal....OMG I know it well! I spent 8 weeks in Gladstone Qld, they've only got a very small crappy Priceline, and it's not worth visiting. I'm in Mackay now, and Priceline is closed for renovations. Can't wait til it reopens.

    1. Lol Rose, gee I'm SO glad I'm not the only one with this problem! Blimey it's the pits hey? Every time I run out of something I think "I'll just pop into Priceline on my way home", and then I remember I CAN'T - boo hoo! Hope the store opens before you have to move on again hon ♥

  2. Hi hi hi kats! Sorry I've been missing for so long, my computer crashed...however that didn't stop me from visiting on my phone. I haven't missed a thing ;)

I adore Priceline and my closest store is 30 minutes away so I don't visit all that often but when I do...let's just say I make the trip there worth it. Sounds like you picked up some great bargains there with those lovely eyeshadows and exclusive products :)

Love the look, it's striking and I love Australia's colours together!

Have a fabulous Friday, and a very enjoyable, relaxing weekend!

    1. Hiya back babe! Oooh I've missed you and your darling comments you gorgeous thing you! Ah yes, technology - awesome when it works, so damned inconvenient when it doesn't. My computer has already blue-screened once tonight - every time it does that I wonder "will it come back to life this time?" - I'm just waiting for the new one to arrive and hoping this one will survive till then...

Thanks for your lovely comment and wishes sweetiepie - hope your last day of the working week goes super quick and that the weekend treats you well ♥

  3. Oh no!!!! Not Priceline withdrawal!! I can't bear to imagine. You poor lady Kats. I know exactly what you mean about buying online not the same as going in store. I'm so glad you got to visit while you were near by. And you grabbed some beautiful products. Those shadows look fantastic!! And wow what a bargain! Well done.
I love your EOTD too. It looks gorgeous with all those greens. :-) Can't wait to see all the other EOTDs you create with your new shadows. xxx

    1. Thanks Indie girl! Hey my eyes didn't leave the cash register when I was making my purchases - I thought it was a mistake! I haven't seen these before, and I think the regular price is $3. Wait till you see the purple, it's almost matte, and unbelievably pigmented xxx

  5. I can totally relate to Priceline withdrawals, I'm on a spending ban for the month of Feb (its now over) so I felt a bit like you! These shadows look really nice, the green complements your eyes perfectly :) such a bargain too, sometimes I wonder why coffee is so expensive when good eyeshadow can be so cheap! Not that the two are comparable but anyway haha :)

    1. Lol Sarah, what an interesting comparison! I find it equally mysterious that there's such a disparity. Congrats on surviving a whole month without spending - you're such a smart cookie, there's only 28 days in February :-)

  6. I agree with Indie, Kat. You grabbed a fantastic bargain !!! This green looks so pretty on you. I was out shopping with my niece the other day and I saw some beautiful frosted eyeshadows in a shop called Gloss in the city. They were reasonably priced too but to be honest, they would have suited your eyes far better than mine. You just have the eyes for it !!! I loved the shades but I had to be practical. The highly frosted eyeshadows that look gorgeous on you would not suit me. I have to stick more to the mattes.

By the way, did I mention that I finally bought the Essence white kajal pencil and a few other Essence eye pencils when I was last in Priceline ? I bought the "Love Me Lavender" Essence kajal pencil too because you mentioned that I might look good with lilac on my waterline. Now I just need to find some time to have a play with my new eye pencils :).

    1. Arty hon, so glad you found Gloss - they have quite a range of makeup in general, but particularly eye shadow, just about every BYS palette available. I reckon frosted shadows would be beautiful on your lid close to your lashline and also below - the light playing off the shimmer would give your eyes some added dimension, but mattes are best on the area above your eye up to your brow because you have hoods like me :-) Looking forward to seeing the results of your playtime with the pencils, and I don't think you "might" look good with lilac on your waterline, I KNOW you will hon xxx

  7. A magnificent green shade - you picked up some bargains. I know how hard it is when you are not close to a favourite store which you love. I had a little giggle reading your description of how happy you were with your basket checking out the aisles - thanks for that! x

    1. Lol Roxy, I was like a heat seeking missile, except my target was bargains and all the things I've not been able to find anywhere else! I also picked up a couple more perfume atomisers to decant some of my fragrances for my handbag - no-one else seems to sell them. Boy do I miss Priceline :-)
