REVIEW: SAX Rich Lip Colour Lipstick...

I discovered this luscious lipstick via beautyheaven's beautorium early last year, and it's only just worn down to the stump now. But I love the colour and creamy moisturising formula so much, I bought another one last week - this is #28, the prettiest coral pink in my collection :-)

Coral is one of the colours I'm most comfortable in, and I reckon it's a particularly flattering shade for us more mature gals, although I think it would suit just about anyone, and any skin tone - nowhere near as dangerous (or daring) as a red, magenta or orange, this hue is cheerful and bright enough to make a distinct impression without hollering "check out my lips!". I often wear it with black and white or grey outfits that would otherwise be a bit flat, but it works beautifully with cream, deep blues or muted greens as well...

I have several coral lippies in my kit - while the others have more orange content, I find this pinky one is an almost perfect match for quite a few of my department store tops, and it's moist enough to blend a little swipe onto my cheeks for that matching glow I love so well lol...

OK so my gorgeous coral aside, there are six other colours in the range, and they are all chock full of anti-ageing and nourishing ingredients - like calendula oil, evening primrose oil, jojoba oil, Vitamin E and silk powder, plus they are paraben free...

I'm really impressed with SAX's presentation too - the sassy casing is a glossy black which doesn't seem to dull even after floating around in my makeup bag for 12 months. Looks heaps more ritzy and expensive than $14.95, and the lid has a nifty click-to-open feature - you press the silver base, and it pops out so you can slide off the cap, and it locks firmly into place when you're done. I usually reapply every couple of hours, but I talk a lot and drink endless cups of tea, so you gals will probably get longer wear out of it.

Truly this lipstick beats the pants of products twice the price, and it scores a 5-star rating on beautyheaven - my review of it is here...

Have you tried any of the SAX makeup range?

Take care of you,
kats xxx

  1. Fantastic review Kats!!
I do own a SAX eye shadow palette but am yet to even try it. I also scored that from Beautorium. Yey for Beautorium!!! LOL
This shade looks gorgeous on your lips. What a pretty coral :D and I can picture you now in a black and white outfit sporting this lippy. It would look so lovely! I agree that the SAX packaging is really luxe looking too.
I do wish I owned more SAX to be honest. Now you've got me wanting a lippy. LOL.

    1. Thank you sweetheart :-) And what a treat that you have an untouched SAX palette stashed away for a rainy day! I gave the one I had to my Mum because the colours suited her far better than me, but it was a beauty. Their Sheer Lip Colour Lipsticks are gorgeous too - I have the Sheer Nude one and it's so delectably moisturising :-) Your collection just won't be complete without one hon ha ha...

  2. I don't own any SAX products. After reading your rave review, Kat, I just may have to remedy that xx

    1. Indie I think you'd love their lippys :-) I keep meaning to buy some of the other colours, but there's only one place I've ever seen them for sale and it's miles from where I live now - I only managed to pick this one up in a mad rush 5 minutes before closing time...

  3. I love your review, Kat !!! I've never tried Sax lipsticks and I'm always on the look out for ones with pretty colours and are moisturing too. I can always hope that there may be a few up for grabs in the coming Beautorium :). Number 28 looks great on you because you are very fair. I think that I'd have to go for slighter darker colours. The only light pink lippy that I've bought recently and like is a Rimmel Apocalips called "Solstice". I picked it up for a steal at Kmart just because BH Members rave about Rimmel Apocalips and I just had to see what the fuss was all about.

Before I go, one question.....do all the L'Oreal Infallible Lipsticks mean that they have get staying power; similar to their 2 Step lipstick ?

    1. Hey Arty, well it won't be long before the next beautorium - I'm sure you'll find something delicious for your lips that'll be up for grabs. I have the Apocalips Solstice too - love it to bits, just keep forgetting trot it out, might do that tomorrow :-) As for the L'Oreal Infallible Lipsticks, I don't necessarily find they last any longer than other brands, and the 2-step lipsticks have a long wear formula that's unique to that particular line xxx

  4. Hi Arty Girl, are you referring to L'Oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge Lipsticks? If so, I have two of them. Their longevity is fantastic, but it comes at a price which is a very tacky feeling on your lips. I noticed that the longevity and tackiness between the two shades that I have is different. I suggest that you test the shades in the store before you buy them.

    1. Sweet Petal, thanks for the info hon - love how we all help each other :-) How odd that they are different consistencies - maybe it's whatever they use as the colourant?
