EOTD: Wintery Red and Green...

Normally I save my red and green eye shadow looks for Christmas, and putting these two colours together invariably means "Silent Night" is playing in all the stores. But I was pondering the other day how beautifully they complement each other, so why wait till the end of the year? And besides, lots of folks celebrate Christmas in July :-) So...after playing around with these oft considered festive shades this morning, and dumbing them down to make them more seasonally suitable, I'm thinking I might have found my newest fave winter combo...

Believe it or not, you don't need all that many shadows in your kit (said she who has a truckload ha ha!) - you can make just about anything you want by blending them together, or in this particular case, using a different coloured base to make the shift into what you're after. So here's the two pigments I used to create this look...

Gaaaa! They're mattes by Sugarpill (Love+ and Midori) and pretty darn bold - far more wearable as Spring or Summer hues, but I applied them over a BLACK base, and literally transformed them into something more winterish. Gee I just love how this red turned into a rich rusty chestnut...

I left the area closest to my top lashes completely bare, which is why that section seems lighter, and blended the Love+ red all over the ModelsPrefer Matte Black Kohl Pencil that came in my Priceline Skincare Goody Bag (yes, I caved...wasn't going to, but it was too darn good hey...). Very happy with this pencil - neither too soft nor too hard. I used it on my lower lash line as well, and blended the green Midori over the top...

Facewise, blush is ModelCo Amaretto Sunset, and lips are Rimmel Lasting Finish lipliner in Indian Pink, GOSH lipstick in Copper Mine, and David Jones Liquid Lipstick in Vivid Violet over the top. Oh and the foundation is the new formula L'Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24H in Golden Beige that I'm currently trialing for beautyheaven - LOVE it...

So do you think this far more subdued red and green combination might be something you'd wear?

Take care of you,
kats xxx

    1. I was thrilled with how it turned out Mazda ♡ The Sugarpill shadows are all mattes, and far superior to anything else I've used - incredibly pigmented and barely any fallout. Can't recommend them enough hon xx
