SPOTLIGHT: Jewellery Collection (Part 5) - Main Storage...

My Jewellery Collection was one of the series that fell through my blogging cracks last year, but now that the gems are all set up and organised in their new home, it's time to resurrect this particular theme, and show you how I manage to co-ordinate everything each day. I've been asked "how do you do it?" - well organisation is the key, and of course, having everything arranged in colour families is also essential to finding just the right pieces. Below are two of the cabinets housing my collection (you've seen the rings before in Part 2 HERE)...

So the dilemma was how to keep all these beauties safe, laid-out and dust-free, so I went with the same system I use for some of my makeup - these 5 Tray Organisers from K-Mart, which only cost $18.00. Together with a couple of rolls of that sticky, non-slip material from the $$$ shops (for a couple of buckeroos) to line the trays, it was the simplest and most effective way to make sure everything stayed fresh and super easy to choose...

For the move I left everything in the drawers, taped them up, and when I unpacked them, all I had to do was rearrange the pieces that had slipped sideways when the removalists hoisted the boxes onto their shoulders (well at least that's what I think they did ha ha)...

And here's a sneak peak of a couple of the drawer contents - the big reveal of ALL of the drawers will be in Part 6 (coming soon!)...

With this storage system, everything is visible and stays put, and I can put my hand on anything lickety split. Of course there are far more glamorous ways to store baubles and beads, but with the sheer volume of my collection, I decided on practicality rather than glitz, and let's face it, the less I spend on storage, the more I can invest in additional bling pieces, although I might just have enough now lol ...

So how do  you store your jewellery?

Take care of you,
kats xxx

P.S. Linking to Ingrid's always entertaining Monday Makeup Madness Linkup Party - don't miss a post, starts every Monday morning at 6:30am ...

  1. I have a similar drawer system for my jewellry but mine's not as extensive as yours and thus not colour coordinated.

    1. I reckon the drawers are the way to go Ingrid - I used to have all mine hanging up (because it looked so pretty) but it all became dull from dust and the salt air, but this system keeps everything like new xxx

  2. I've got a big jewellery cabinet (with a mirror, since I love me a good multi-functional piece) that I store all my stuff in. Unfortunately I haven't got my stuff in there at present since I'm living in a different room, so I've got one of those dress-like holders with plastic sleeves to put my stuff in. It makes it kinda hard when you have to fish out all your stud earrings, but it has to do for now.

    1. I had one of those hanger ones too Shell - but my collection became too big, and things would fall out all the time and I lost some of my bits in the carpet! Hope you get to use your lovely cabinet soon - it sounds like a beauty xxx

    1. Claire it's the only way I can manage it all - I'd prefer the cabinet case to be clear, and some companies make them but they're 4 or 5 times the price, so black will do lol xxx

    1. Gosh Indie, I do have quite a bit, but almost all of it is el-cheapo stuff, so that's my justification lol! Love and hugs from the Big Bad (Jewellery) Wolf ♥♥♥

    1. Hey babe, it's quite silly really - I have all my stationery lying around the place, and all my gems are in the drawers that are supposed to be for stationery! Oh well, it works ha ha xxx

  8. I love those organisers, will have to check them out next time I'm a Kmart! My jewellery just sits on a little Typo tray but everything is jumbled up and I can never find pairs of earrings lol.

    1. Hope they still have them Di - they've been available for many years, but I bought a spare a few months ago (for expansion lol!) and it was the last one on the shelf. I feel your pain about the earrings - it's so annoying when you find one and not the other xxx
