EOTD: Sleek Snapshots Tequila Sunrise & Sunset...

One of my last few posts with red hair! I'll still be redd-ish but have decided to go copper for a while - and actually this is the perfect eye makeup for coppery locks, so I hope I can remember how I did it lol! Just pulling your leg - the awesome thing about posting these looks here is that I have a permanent online diary that I can always refer to. Anyways, in case I haven't announced it before, I'm officially crazy about these sunrise and sunset hues in the Sleek Snapshots palette ...

I started with a base of essence white kajal, and then patted down Tequila Sunrise on the inner third, Sunset over the remainder, and blended where they met with only a few jiggles of a fluffy brush. Waterline was Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil in Bronze Amulet...

And here is the rest of the look - foundation was Mirenesse Liquid Silk, and cheeks were Maybelline Master Glaze Stick in Coral Sheen topped with Lacura Mosaic Baked Blush Bronzer in Beach Babe. On the pucker I wore Milani Cinnamon Spice lippie with a swipe of Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer in Citrine...

AND I'm giving myself a little pat on the back because thanks to my Christmas hols, this is EOTD post #8 for January! So stay tuned for the EOTM giveaway - I'm planning on getting it organised nice and early next month

EOTD: Australia Day Green & Gold!...

Traditionally I create a green and gold look for this special day, and who am I to break with tradition, especially given that once again this year I wasn't brave enough to tackle a red, white and blue combo! Besides, I DO love these two colours together, and I often combine them throughout the year one way or another. But I tried something a little more experimental this time around - not sure it was all that successful, but hey, what's the point of having a blog if you can't post even the dodgy attempts?

I was going for a kind of a wattle effect, and wanted to use products made by Aussie brands. So I started with Eye of Horus Emerald Tabula Goddess Pencil all over the eye, and waited about 3 minutes for it to set - anyone else wouldn't have to hold off for that long, but my pesky hoods get in the way and end up being smeared with the crayon unless I pause and try not to blink or look up....

Anyhoo, once it was safe to proceed, I took my fabbo Mirenesse Secret Weapon 24Hr Eye Liner in Pure Gold, and randomly dabbed it over the top. As you can see the pattern doesn't match, but that's what happens with freestyle painting lol. I used the EOH Emerald on the waterline, took it underneath the lower lashline as well, and smudged it and the outer corner with the built-in sponge..

Nice and simple, a bit different, and hopefully sufficiently Aussie enough to pass muster.

Whatever you do with your family or friends, I hope your Australia Day is a special one - keep safe, happy and well lovelies

Take care of you,

EOTD: Chi Chi OMFG Yellow Gold and Orange Gold...

Well June will soon be here, and with it, the official start of Winter - brrrrr! So best to get a few more Autumn looks up on the old blogaroony. And the Chi Chi OMFG palette is packed to the eye balls with appropriate shadow hues, so I turned to it once again to help me make my decision about what colours to put together

On this particular day I was wearing coral and black, and not having a true coral pigment in my collection (will have to do something about that stat!), I set about making one by laying down a base of Maybelline In With Coral COLORdrama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil on the outer half  (yes, using a lip product again!), and essence white kajal on the inside...

I then pressed the second orangey shade (pictured above) over the whole lid, and concentrated the first gold pan on the inner half. It certainly was an interesting result, and one I was delighted with because it turned out to be just the shade I was after - score!

Sleek matte Noir went into the crease and along the lower lashline, and I lined my waterline with ModelsPrefer Matte Black Kohl Pencil. This particular crayon came to me (I think) in one of those Priceline goody bags, but do you think I can find it on the stand in the store? Boo!

But all is not lost - I can see it on the Priceline website. It's a BRILLIANT formula, lasts heaps longer on my waterline than any of my other crayons, doesn't irritate in the slightest, and I'll definitely be buying another one (or two!)

So how's Autumn treating you? Mine has been one of considerable change, and getting rid of a whole heap of unnecessary clutter - always a good thing...

EOTD: Come Play With Me - GOLD!...

Absolutely delighted that the beautiful Cathy over at SilverScreenBeautyQueens has joined in the fun of IndieAna's Come Play With Me series, and chosen the current theme - "Gold". And with the Oscars looming on the horizon, it was the perfect choice. I haven't featured gold in my eye looks all that much in the past, so this was a great excuse for me to put to the test the various ones I have in my kit. On it's own, I don't think gold does my particular colouring any favours (see below), but as an accent or feature combined with a rainbow hue, I just adore it!

This orangey gold shadow has been languishing in my collection for way too long (like quite a few others!) - it's from the Chi Chi Wake Me Up Before You Go Go palette, years old, and yet it's still wonderfully vibrant, creamy and rich...

And below is a selection of looks using different golds paired with two of my favourite shades, purple and green

Both this pinky purple and the pale gold are from the MUA Poptastic palette. Totally in love with this barely-there gold - could probably use it as a cheek highlighter as well!

This is Sugarpill Midori over a base of Mirenesse Secret Weapon 24 Hr Eye Liner in Pure Gold - I also lined the top and bottom lashlines with it. A brilliant liquid liner, but keep it away from your waterline...

And for this look I used the slightly darker and more yellowy gold from the MUA Poptastic palette, along with the fabulous Sugarpill Elemental Chaos - my camera just doesn't do this passionate purple the justice it deserves...

Cathy's gorgeously gold look is here...

EOTD: essence Green and Gold for Australia Day!...

Happy Australia Day to all Downunder-ites! It's a special day that deserves a special EOTD, but I kept it all pretty low key this year. Initially I had all sorts of ideas for how I would celebrate the big day through eye makeup (like a golden wattle effect, or a Bondi inspired surf and sand look), but in the end I decided I'd just do something very very basic, but with enough sparkle to mark this auspicious occasion....

But what to do, and what to use? THEN I remembered I'd made the ideal purchase about three weeks ago - this essence 3D duo in the shade combo Irresistible Brazilian Sun. I mean, how perfect is that gold and green?  Lol it could just have easily been called Irresistible Aussie!

The shadows are unbelievably pigmented, and exceptionally creamy and sparkly on their own, but I wanted more (lol!) so I started with a base of Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold - this fabulous cream will give ANYTHING you pat over the top of it an injection of 24k that would make Goldfinger proud ha ha...

The placement of the gold and green are obvious from the pics, and I pressed a light dusting of Fern from the Sleek V2 matte palette into the crease. This was to try and reduce the amount of transfer of the shimmery shadows from the lid to my hoods - it kinda worked lol...

Because of the light-reflective qualities of the shadow, I thought I'd play it safe on the waterline with NYX Wonder Pencil in the Light shade...

Just adore both these essence colours - the green especially, as it's very close to the colour of my iris, and that's always a bonus

So my fellow Aussies...

EOTD: Sleek Arabian Nights Aussie Gold and Green...

Although I adore it, I haven't posted many looks from the divine Sleek Arabian Nights palette so far - it's not that I haven't been using it. Far from it, in fact I've at least 10 different combos stashed away for future posts. But it's a collection of quite deep and deliciously warming shades, far suited to the cooler weather - or so I thought! As it turns out, it all depends what you use as a base...

I was determined to NOT put it away till next Autumn, so I trotted out my trusty essence white kajal (who am I kidding, it's ALWAYS on my bench lol), and started working with Gold Souk and Hocus Pocus, two of my absolute faves from this gem of a set...

I probably don't need to say that I applied the magnificent green along the top and lower lashlines, and then patted the shimmery gold over the rest of the lid - the pictures tell the story on their own...

In the crease I added a dash of Fern from the Sleek V2 Matte palette, and on the waterline is essence Long Lasting eye pencil in I Have a Green...

This palette is proving to be exceptionally versatile, and with a bit of a lift from a white base, I reckon this particular combo is perfect for our downunder Spring/Summer - what say you gals?

EOTD: Red, Gold & Black...

This was today's Melbourne Cup Day eye look - a colour combination I've done many many times, but it always turns out slightly different. Of course it depends what you put where, and the product I use on my waterline tends to make a big difference...

I've changed the lighting for these early morning photos. I now have two globes - one cool and one warm white in an effort to get the most realistic and true representation of the colours I use. Because of the added brightness, everything seems a lot clearer camera-wise, or perhaps I should say "gorily graphic", which may not be such a good thing considering my age lol. But hey, I always prefer to tell it like it is, so here we go, warts and all

My base was Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold, a rich metallic cream that has lots of pretty sparkles to enliven the flatness of matte pigments. Over that I applied Mirenesse Secret Weapon 24 hr Liner in Pure Gold along the top and lower lashlines - love this stuff, and once it dries, it's there for the whole day. The red is a blend of two matte shadows from the bhcosmetics Take Me To Brazil palette - one of them is pinky red, and the other is orangey red, but together they made just the shade I was after...

I pressed the black from the same palette into the crease, and went over the gold on the lower lid with MNY Master Precise Liquid Liner. On the waterline is ModelsPrefer Matte Black Kohl Pencil - out of all my crayons, this is the most long lasting in this damp area, and I don't experience even the slightest twinge of irritation. Brilliant, and I'll be buying it again.  My mascara is always Maybelline The Falsies Volum' Express Hydrofuge (waterproof). I'm going through another phase where I'm sticking to the same one because it never fails

Regrettably, no time to take a pic of any other part of me, but as you can probably imagine, my outfit was black and red with gold jewellery, and I added a slightly subdued red lip using Rimmel 1000 Kisses Stay on Lip Contouring Pencil in Red Dynamite, Lacural Minerals lipstick in shade 980, and topped with Mirenesse 3D Forever Gloss in Star Struck...

EOTD: Gold, Red and Black...

I'm wearing so much more red than I did in my youth, and especially this winter - making up for lost time I guess, but it's also such a fabulous shade for dispelling the drearies. I tend to wear it on Tuesdays, which is the day ruled by Mars, and often the day when I have the most challenges at work, so having some colour support is essential. I did something similar back in January, but I prefer this one because of the matte charcoal on the lower lashline - far kinder to my old eyes...

And of course, back then I didn't have the Mirenesse Secret Weapon 24HR Pure Gold Eye liner in my kit either - it's truly amazing and so easy to control the placement, plus it sure does last all day long. There's a swatch of it here...

So here's what I used to create this look...

Base: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold
Gold shadow: Urban Decay Honey
Red shadow: Sugarpill Love+
Charcoal shadow: MUA Matte #20
Top lash liner: Mirenesse Secret Weapon 24HR Pure Gold Eye liner
Waterliner: Essence white kajal
