Seeing as it's the last day of summer (what summer?) I thought I'd post a review of another of my fairly regular warm weather fragrances - Estée Lauder Pleasures EDP. This is my third bottle and one I plan on always having on my shelf. I first discovered it back in 2013 when I was gifted with a mini bottle in one of those collection sets. It so reminds me of the very first bottle of perfume I ever owned when I was a spotty teenager - Louis Feraud Justine. I don't know when they stopped making that beauty but it was a long time ago, and Pleasures (created 30 years later) is the closest match I've found so far to its refreshing crispness ♥...

REVIEW: Estée Lauder Pleasures EDP...
Close enough for me to classify this as a crystalline (my fave for hot days), this quite potent scent is a white floral perfectly balanced with a fairly hefty whack of greenness that stays right up till the end (around 5 hours later). The formula contains Freesia, Violet (love!), Tuberose, Red Berries, Lily-of-the-Valley, Peony, Lilac, Lily, Rose, Geranium, Jasmine and Karo Karounde (unheard of by me but apparently smells like spicy Jasmine). All these precious petal juices are interlaced with a sprinkling of Pink Pepper on a base of Sandalwood, Cedar, Musk and Patchouli. Magnificent ♥...
The bottle is exquisitely fluid and feminine - plain as can be but with a sensuous curve, the name etched into the glass in a romantic font, and a frosted silver bulb cap. The box is a glorious salmon pink with alternating sheen stripes that sadly don't show up all that well in my pics - ever so pretty though ♥...
Described on the Estée Lauder website as a sheer, shimmering floral, I totally agree. The green edge stops it from being overly sweet, and the longevity and projection are impressive. Some gals say it smells like soap, others say it reminds them of celery, but I don't get any of that - it conjures up flowers that have been kissed by rain, and I can't think of a better formula for a hot day when something refreshing, revitalising and uplifting is all I want ♥...
I was lucky enough to pick up this 50ml bottle from Priceline for less than half price (RRP is $110) during a recent sale - in hindsight, I should have gone for the 100ml! But if you ever spot it on sale anywhere, go for it - it's such a pleasure ♥...
Do you have a favourite Estée Lauder fragrance?
Take care of you, and keep safe,

February 2020 Empties & Giveaway!...
Hi everyone and welcome to Autumn, which officially began with the equinox on Friday at 2:49pm. Just like our recent Summer, this Autumn is shaping up to be like no other - wherever you live, our world is changing and with it, our lifestyles and habits must change too. I plan to keep posting on my blog through these challenging times, so I hope you'll continue to join me here for reviews, empties and my usual monthly giveaway, which this time around is a special one for Mother's Day - it's not till May, but given the current global circumstances, I thought it best to get in early ♥...
Body
Glow Lab Blackberry & Bay Body Wash (400ml, RRP $9)
Mmmm, can't decide whether I like this one more than the Coconut & Sandalwood one - let's just say they are equally delicious, but this scent is probably the one I'll go for just that little bit more in the cooler weather. I've tried quite a few products from their range, and have been pleasantly surprised by all of them - love that they're cruelty-free and even the pump is recyclable ♥♥♥...

Schmidt's Charcoal + Magnesium Mineral Enriched Natural Deodorant (75g/92g, RRP $13.99/$19.95)
In my not-so-long-ago series on aluminium-free deodorants, I rated this second to Fresca roll-on, but I've done a switcheroo, and made this my numero uno. They are equally effective at controlling odour, but I reckon the Schmidt's wins by a butterfly's eyelash as far as keeping me dry, PLUS (and this is a biggie) the 75g size is available from my local Priceline store - not having to pay shipping is a bonus ♥♥♥...

My dentist gave me a sample size after I had some work done on a molar, and it sure helped reduce sensitivity after I had the crown fitted. Tasted good too, and there was enough in the tube for a week's use. He also gave me another brand which made my lips go numb (binned) so this would be my choice if I ever need something like this again ♥♥...

Freezeframe Wrinkle Block Age Prevention Multi Stick (30ml, RRP $69)
I wrote quite an extensive review of this product last month (link HERE). This was my second stick and while I haven't quite finished the third, I don't think I'll be continuing on this path. Yes, it has made a difference to my fine lines, and my neck looks less craggy, but the deeper lines haven't budged since stick number 1, and there's still no impact whatsoever on my eye bags. The price is somewhat prohibitive, and at the end of the day, the benefits aren't sufficient for me to continue on for $70 a month. I've also decided that in my particular case, smooth texture, plumpness and radiance are more important than reducing wrinkles, so I just use it on my neck now ♥♥...

Proactiv Amazonian Clay Mask (28g, RRP $?)
Interesting! This was sent to me to trial by beautyheaven over the Christmas period - I loved it, and even made a 3-minute video as part of my review. The text was published on 4th January, but no longer appears on the site, in fact, Proactiv is no longer listed full stop, so I guess they pulled the plug on the funding. Anyways, a beaut mask - quite thin, earthy scent that isn't overpowering, didn't make my face feel like it was going to crack up, and sent my blackheads packing ♥♥...

Love these and first wrote about them back in March 2018, but I can no longer find them at Priceline and they only seem to be available from the Blaq website. Pity as they're really something special. Well now, this was a bonus find at Price Attack - vegan and cruelty-free, I add this to my fortnightly colouring concoction, and mix a little into my conditioner to keep my tresses as ashy and yellow-free as possible. There are heaps of other colours in the range, but this platinum one works best for me. It's a mauvey mushroomy colour, and while I would prefer something more silvery, it'll do for now ♥♥♥...

July 2019 Empties & Giveaway!...
Well, it's official - I'm high maintenance! I was looking back through my old Empties posts and found the first one I uploaded (in November 2015 HERE), and while it wasn't too shabby an effort, these days I require almost double the products to get me through a month, and I don't see the situation improving any time soon. In fact, it's likely to get worse - as I age it takes more and more effort (and stuff) to keep me looking reasonably well-groomed, so I guess the beauty industry will stay afloat for a while longer lol ♥...
Body
Glow Lab Amber & Sage Hand Wash (300ml, RRP $5)
Mmmm loved this hand wash, actually I'm quite taken with this brand, and have bought several other flavours, as well as their body wash. Fabulously comforting fragrance (anything with amber gets me in every time), no sulphates, cruelty-free, can buy it at Woolworths and doesn't dry my skin. NZ is really churning out some great skincare ♥♥♥...

Already have, plus the coconut & spiced fig one ♥♥♥...
L'Occitane Intensive Hand Balm (150ml, RRP $47)
Holey guacemoley, this is the biggest, fattest most long-lasting tube of hand cream I've ever come across! Gifted by beautyheaven ages ago, I've been looking at it in my drawer for yonks, not wanting to make a dent in it. It's the most enriching hand cream, smells delish, and it worked wonders on my old skin. My only beef is with the packaging - why oh why do L'Occitane keep using metal for their tubes? The cap is so tiny that it won't stand up on my bedside table plus the lid is so fiddly to screw back on, and from the first use, the tube looks crap - battered and worn, and halfway through it started splitting at the sides. Boo!...

Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant (57g, RRP $85)
I do love this powder - it's so gentle and I love the polishing effect on my skin. Was delighted to receive this 13g sample size from a long-forgotten source, and anything containing charcoal is a sure bet winner with me ♥♥♥...

Kosmea Revive Illuminating Essence (10ml, RRP $21.95)
This 3ml sample came with one of my beautyheaven Rewards Room orders. Absolutely loved its hydrating qualities, and the scent is divine - very fresh and organic, and my face literally drank it in ♥♥♥...

Would definitely consider it if I ever get off the retinol bus ♥♥♥...
L'Oreal Clinically Proven Lash Serum (2ml, RRP $29.95)
Can you believe it I've stopped buying RapidLash after 5 years - either my lashes are used to it, they changed the formula, or I'm buying fakes, but anyway it's not working any more. And because I no longer photograph my eyes, I figured I can survive with what nature gave me. But given I apply three coats of waterproof mascara almost every day, I wanted to show my lashes a little bit of love, and this works a treat. Keeps them supple and I've not had any breakages since I've been using it ♥♥♥...
Repurchase?
Yes ♥♥♥...
Mirenesse Fast Fix Solutions Chin Tuck (40g, RRP $79)
This is one that had been lying idle in my drawer for over a year. It did nothing for my saggy neck or double chin but it came in a VIP pack so at least I didn't waste $80 on it. It feels lovely when applied, and there's a steel roller built into the tube, but I think my under-chin is just too far gone ha ha!...

Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes (Pack of 25, RRP $7.99)
These should have been appearing in my Regulars section since I started these Empties posts - I usually go through two packs every month. Not necessarily on my face, although I have used them occasionally when I've been in a hurry to get to bed - I use them to clean my brushes daily. It's the best way I've found - the brushes don't get wet and they never shed ♥♥♥...

Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Moisturiser SPF 15 (29ml, RRP $39.99)

Repurchase?
If I can't find my usual, yes ♥♥♥...
Olay Regenerist Whip (10g, RRP $11.99)
A freebie from a beautyheaven event - a beautiful cream, rich and yet light and non-greasy, perfect as an under makeup base, just wish it had SPF. This 10g size is just the cutest! ♥♥♥...
Repurchase?
If they bring out one with SPF, then yes ♥♥♥...
Olay Eyes Pro-Retinol Eye Treatment (15ml, RRP $48.99)
Recommended by dear Fawn - thanks treasure! Absolutely LOVE this eye cream, in fact I think it's my latest contender for the HG title. Very calming, cooling and soothing, I noticed the fine wrinkles under my eyes disappeared in the first few days - let's hope it works as well on the crevasses! ♥♥♥...
Repurchase?
I stocked up at the last skincare sale ♥♥♥...
SheaMoisture African Black Soap Clarifying Facial Wash & Scrub (118ml, RRP $29.99)
I'm a massive fan of this brand. This is a lovely and gentle scrub that's full of goodness, enriching and doesn't irritate my skin. It's very runny though, and that's why it's not my #1 - if I'm not careful it slips through my fingers and quite a bit is wasted. Love the milk lolly scent, just wish it was firmer ♥♥♥...
Repurchase?
Maybe ♥♥♥...
Skin Nutrient Goat's Milk Magic Touch Moisturiser (50g, RRP $35.95)
Another gift from a bh event. I had high hopes for this as it seemed to be sufficiently moisturising for my dry winter skin, but alas no. It would be fine for summer, but to be honest, it's just too weird. A gel with tiny white flecks (milk solids?) that are a little gritty and sometimes dissolve, but not always. For that reason, I would only use it at night. Nice fresh fragrance though and I like that they've attempted something a bit different with their packaging ♥...
Repurchase?
No ♥...
Swisspers Make-up Pads (Pack of 80, RRP $3.79)
Another pack that should have appeared regularly before, but will again. I go through probably three per night when I double cleanse with micellar water. I also spray my perfume onto one and tuck it between my boobs - my bras were becoming stained from my everyday spritz, but this does the trick, keeps everything clean, and the scent lasts all day. These are the ONLY makeup pads I buy - they don't disintegrate and yet they're baby soft ♥♥♥...
Repurchase?
Forever ♥♥♥...
Trilogy Rosehip Transformation Cleansing Oil (110ml, RRP $28.95)
Another one from beautyheaven - yes they continue to be one of my main sources of new products! A gorgeous oil cleanser that smells divine and takes off all my makeup. I've never been into oil cleansers, and I'm still not as I prefer a balm in winter, but this is truly a lovely product. Liquid oils are just too messy for me and I don't like that they drip into the basin, which is why I prefer a solid balm ♥♥...

Oh boy, my current job is so intense it has impacted my weekday nights (10-12 hour days) as well as my weekends, and this was my only sheet mask in July. I'm so glad it was a beauty - it's a one-piece with cheek splits, one of the best face-fits ever, supremely hydrating and I could literally feel my skin soaking up the moisture. Definitely a keeper! ♥♥♥...

Skin Republic Foot Peel (1 pair pre-filled boots, RRP $15.99 )
Was keen to try this to compare it to Milky Foot (which I reviewed in my one and only YouTube video HERE). My verdict? It's not as effective as Milky Foot, but hey, it's half the price. As you can see above it certainly peeled a fair bit of the yucky skin off my feet after a week, and there was no discomfort whatsoever, but it was all in the form of tiny flakes and the corns on my little toes are still there. Fine if you don't have much work to do on your feet, but for my money, I'd rather pay the extra for Milky Foot and only have to do it once per year ♥...

Absolutely LOVE this palette! Mind you I only used up two pans (the champagne gold and the bronze) but well worth it. The perfect amount of shimmer for my needs. The champagne goes down the centre of my nose and across my cupid's bow, and I've even been daring enough to use a kabuki brush dusted with a combo of the gold and bronze all over my face for a teeny bit of glow - unheard of for me lol! ♥♥♥...

I waited almost a year to purchase this, and I wasn't disappointed from a coverage perspective. It's too pale for me to use on its own, but it's impossible to see any imperfections once it's applied. I do love this brand, but I loathe the fact that everything I want is almost always out of stock - it's a total joy-killer for me ♥...

Beautyheaven Glosscar Awards Marketplace Member Event...
Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of attending one of the Beautyheaven Glosscar Awards Marketplace Member Event sessions at bh headquarters in the Sydney CBD ♥ The Beautyheaven Glosscar Awards are an annual affair, and members can vote for their favourite beauty products released in the previous 12 months. This Marketplace Event was a fabulous opportunity to learn about and experience some of the amazing products nominated this year, from MAC, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Beauty by Nicholas, L'Occitane, Essano & Proactiv ♥...
![]() |
While we were only there for an hour, we were provided with some delicious refreshments, and there was time to take in everything on display, as well as catch up with some long-time member friends and the bh Team of lovelies. After missing out on a pic with the gorgeous Debbie Black from beautyheaven at the 10th Birthday Party Event last October, I made sure to hijack her this time around - she's a total doll! ♥...
There were seven beauty stations to visit, manned either by bh staff or sponsor representatives, and we were able to sample the products, ask questions, and were generously gifted with items from every stand. I've been a fan of the Beauty by Nicholas brand ever since discovering them at the previous bh event I attended last year and chose the only product from their range that I hadn't tried before - Omega Hydroxy Night Rejuvenation ♥...
I left it too late to take a photo of the Bobbi Brown stand before it was swamped (lol!), but all 20 colours of their Crushed Lip Colour lipsticks were on display and available to swatch, and you can imagine all us girls went to town on that opportunity! ♥...
I chose the shade Watermelon, a stunning red with lots of pink, or is it pink with lots of red? Either way the formula is a wonder combination of long-lasting pigments and a matte finish that's comfortable to wear ♥...
At the Essano station, we learned about their Rosehip Clarifying Clay Masque, which I tried last night and it's brilliant! Delectable rose fragrance, the prettiest soft pink colour, and it left my skin glowing and deeply cleansed. Also gifted was their Clear Complexion Detoxifying Serum, which I also included in my Saturday night beauty routine, and will continue to use to help control my oily-T zone ♥...
The Estee Lauder experts were on hand to colour match us with their new Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Makeup which includes SPF 25. They used one of those nifty electronic gadgets that they hold against areas of the face and neck in order to find the perfect match. We were gifted with a full-sized bottle of this delightful foundation, and my match was Ivory Beige 3N1, which I'll be road-testing tomorrow ♥...
Our lovely L'Occitane rep treated us to samples of the latest moisturisers, and we were so kindly gifted with their miraculous Shea Butter Intensive Hand Balm, and a bottle of Terre De Lumiere EDP. I'll be reviewing this separately, but let's just say that it's a crisp and spicy, sensual gourmand floral masterpiece! ♥...
Here's bh's stunning and ever so friendly Steph at the MAC stand, where we were introduced to the Bold & Bad Lash mascara. Of course, I'll be doing an in-depth review in the weeks ahead, but if the contents are as magnificent as the packaging, I'll be happy as a clam! The spectacular silver, red and black tube has two brushes, one each for top and bottom, and the bottom lash formula is smudge-proof - we shall see! ♥...
I've not tried any Proactiv products before - their speciality is troubled skin, and I only experience maybe one blemish in a year, but I am regularly dealing with blackheads on my nose, so I was delighted to have the opportunity to try their Blackhead Dissolving Gel. It's designed to shrink pores as well - my hooter has already had a treatment, and I'll report back to you soon. Incidentally, it smells divine ♥...

If you're not already a beautyheaven member, I can assure you the rewards are amazing, and if you join now and vote, you can be in the running for one of 10 prize packs valued at around $1,000. I've been lucky enough to win two of these mammoth prize boxes in my 9 years as a member so I won't be entering the comp, but I WILL be voting for my fave products before the closing date of this Thursday 29th March...
Huge thankyous to the beautyheaven team (& sponsors) for this fun experience - you guys always put on the best show! ♥...
Take care of you,
