This was supposed to go up last Sunday, but the power went off due to the wild weather here in Sydney, and I lost 5 precious hours of blogging time that I wasn't able to find again - but huge thanks to the engineers who went out into the mini-cyclonic conditions to fix the grid! While I'm perfectly happy with my Oral B Diamond White toothpaste, this was on special and I thought I'd give it a try. I must admit I was a little hesitant when I popped the seal and found the paste was striped grey and orange - a bit weird and I wondered how bright it would keep my choppers given the peculiar colour combination. Well, I needn't have worried as there was no reduction in whiteness, but no improvement either. I enjoyed the minty fresh taste ♥♥...

The 7ml sample size (from I forget where) was just enough to get me excited - a delicate citrussy-scented serum that was an absolute pleasure to use, and I was somewhat peeved when it came to an end. Contains Hyaluronic Acid as well and is supposed to help with pigmentation - didn't expect any reduction within such a small usage time, but my skin felt and looked fabulous, supremely hydrated, and my foundation finish was smooth and sleek  ♥♥...

Repurchase?
I reckon I will - while I'm IN LOVE with the L'Occitane Reset serum, the price is somewhat daunting, and this would be a much more affordable option ♥♥...

Freezeframe Wrinkle Block Age Prevention Multi Stick (30ml, RRP $69)

The jury's still out on this one, but considering I'm on my third stick, that's a pretty good indication (question though, how come a solid stick gets measured in mls?). This was on special (40% off) and therefore irresistible to moi, the bargain hunter from way back, especially when it comes to trying new stuff. It's an odd little gem - a cream stick (not unlike a deodorant presentation) that you wind up as you use it. I've been swiping it over my forehead (special focus on my between-brows tramlines), crows feet, all around my mouth, and the base of my neck where it looks like what you'd see on a brush turkey. Applied to dry clean skin, the cream is kind of moisturising as you massage it in, and the blurb says no need for anything else, but I haven't found it anywhere near hydrating enough, so I added my day and night creams after waiting for 2 minutes, which is the recommendation on the box if you want to keep going with your usual routine. There's pretty much an instant smoothing of very fine lines, and it does seem to be cumulative, but I can't say for sure as I've been using it continuously. The deeper creases are taking longer to soften, but have definitely become more shallow, and the base of my neck isn't as horrendously wrinkled as it was. A substitute for botox? I think that's taking it a bit far, but my face does look quite a bit perkier, more refined, and definitely smoother and less lined. It's supposed to reduce eye bags by 76% in 7 days, but I've not noticed any change in my giant sacks. Still, I'm happy to not look so wrinkly elsewhere. There's a bonus when you get to the end - you can actually remove the little wheelie thing that the stick sits on, and scrape out enough leftovers for another 3 or 4 applications ♥♥...

Yes, but I don't think it's worth full price - hopefully it'll be on special again before my current stick runs out ♥♥...

Literally dripping when you take it out of the foil pack, this is a major skin soaker and rehydrator, so if you're dealing with dryness, you'll be on cloud nine. Boasting ingredients like Vitamin C & B3 (Niacinamide), Allantoin & Hyaluronic Acid, this is the juiciest face mask I've ever tried, and it left my skin looking satin-smooth, and I didn't need anything else in my usual night-time routine to keep my skin soft and moisturised till the next morning. It has eyelid flaps, but I didn't use them as they were also dripping with serum and I didn't want to get any in my eyes ♥♥...

I raved about this brush HERE, but it seems to have a major flaw. The first one was sent to me in a PR pack, and it was BRILLIANT for about 3 months, and then started to shed really badly. I mean chunks of bristles mixed in with my foundation - eek! I thought it might be because I cleaned it several times in my rotating brush cleaner gadget, and figured I must have dunked it too deep, or else it was a production dud. So I bought another one, and only cleaned it with my makeup wipes, as I do with all my other brushes with zero negative effects, and...exactly the same thing happened after 3 months. Boo! So much for my glowing recommendation - sorry gals! I'm now using a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush with no problems whatsoever...

RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum (3ml, RRP $69)

I stopped buying this about 6 months ago from my usual (bargain) online source because it had stopped working for me. My eyelashes were back to where they were 6 years ago when I first discovered this magical formulation - short, sparse and barely there. I couldn't figure out what the problem was as I was using it nightly as always, but then I started to entertain the possibility that what I was buying was either old stock, or fake. So I decided to give it another go, but this time buying from Priceline ($20 more), and I was right, one way or the other. The brush on the ones I had that weren't working was a different colour (I think it was pink, can't remember exactly but I do remember I compared them) whereas this new one is orange. And voila - 6 weeks later, I was back to having long, lush and full lashes. So let this be a lesson to us all - bargain prices can sometimes mean out of date stock, or a case of the shonkies. REVIEW: L'Occitane Immortelle Reset Overnight Oil-In-Serum...

For months I've gazed longingly at the Immortelle Reset window display in my local L'Occitane outlet while riding up and down the escalator in the mall. There was something about the colours and harmony of the arrangement that was both captivating and calming in amongst the retail hustle and bustle, and I just kept thinking "one day...".  Well, that day finally arrived (24 hours after my tax return hit the account actually) and I entered the inner sanctum of the store to fulfil at least one of my skincare dreams ♥...

I resisted the urge to indulge in a whole bunch of their other magical lotions and potions and restricted myself to two bottles of this Overnight Reset Oil-In-Serum. Somewhere along the way I had scored a teeny tiny sample bottle (which was enough for almost a week) and fallen totally and utterly in love with the fragrance, the whole nightly application experience, and my rejuvenated appearance next morning. So it was kind of a done deal that the moment my budget would permit, this beautiful cocktail of skin-loving ingredients would take pride of place on my vanity ♥...

The presentation is exquisite - the femininely curved glass is tinted ombre-style, starting with a deep blue at the top, shading down through a reddish-purple, with the bottom half clear so that you can see the golden orbs of Immortelle Oil Extract suspended in the serum. Every time I look at it, my inner bee sees those little yellow balls as pollen, and I can't help but buzz with excitement lol! The scent is one of the most beautiful I have ever encountered in a skincare product. To me it encapsulates nature's divinity - pure and natural, it's the perfect balance of honey nectar and floral bloom that's neither sweet nor sour ♥...

Despite it being labelled as "oil-in-serum" I don't find it oily at all - it has excellent slip so massaging it into the skin is effortless, and the softening effect is outstanding. After applying, there's a very light and nourishing film left on the skin, which left alone, absorbs completely within 5 minutes leaving the surface satiny smooth (I usually hold off adding my usual moisturiser until the serum has sunk in completely). I've almost finished the first bottle, and my complexion has lost the dullness that has crept in over the years, plus I reckon my skin looks plumper and more vital, the sharpness of my lines has fuzzed, and there's not a hint of dryness in my cheeks any more ♥...

I'm totally sold on this elixir from nature - the combination of oil and serum is a brilliant innovation, the best of both hydrating worlds. And my evening ritual was something I would often postpone until just before retiring, but now it's become a priority as soon as I'm home from work if for no other reason than the pleasure it brings me. The challenge now is to rework my budget ($95 for 30ml) so I can continue on with the nightly bliss and improvements this gorgeous product has already delivered ♥...

Well, I guess it was only a matter of time before the Regulars in my Empties post far exceeded my never-tried-before products, and it happened big time in October, with only seven items that haven't appeared here before, and 19 that are recurring gems in my beauty routine. So perhaps I'm settling into a pattern of using trusted products rather than being overly adventurous? Hard to decide if this is my favourite from the range, but it's close, and will definitely appear again here over the summer. So delicious, with the spiced fig a wee bit more dominant than the coconut, but perfect for the festive season when we're all thinking about fruit mince pies and other yummies. Love this NZ brand in general for the absence of chemical inclusions, and their no animal testing stance ♥♥♥...

Thanks to beautyheaven, I scored a full-sized tube a long long time ago and it only just made the front line of the stash in the last few months.  Awesome hand cream, well actually a treatment, for when your paws are in very paw poor shape - this will sort out any dryness, cracks and redness from the second or third application. After that, the skin is building resilience and becoming smoother and softer by the day ♥♥♥...

Holey guacemoley, where do I start with this gem. OK from somewhere or other I scored a 5ml sample of this fantabulous serum, and after using this teeny tiny quantity for a week, well, I just had to have more. Fortunately, my discovery coincided with an unusually generous tax return (from not working 4 months of last year) so I treated myself to two (yes two) bottles because I decided I couldn't possibly live without it, and I was right. It's pure heaven for my skin. I'll work on a dedicated post over the Christmas break as it truly deserves a place in the spotlight, and the bottle is so exquisite I need to spend some time on the photography so I can do it justice. For now, let's just say that it's like Mother Nature decided to put all her goodness into one jar, and then give L'Occitane the rights to sell it. Complexion bliss ♥♥♥...

July 2019 Empties & Giveaway!...

Well, it's official - I'm high maintenance! I was looking back through my old Empties posts and found the first one I uploaded (in November 2015 HERE), and while it wasn't too shabby an effort, these days I require almost double the products to get me through a month, and I don't see the situation improving any time soon. In fact, it's likely to get worse - as I age it takes more and more effort (and stuff) to keep me looking reasonably well-groomed, so I guess the beauty industry will stay afloat for a while longer lol ♥...

Mmmm loved this hand wash, actually I'm quite taken with this brand, and have bought several other flavours, as well as their body wash. Fabulously comforting fragrance (anything with amber gets me in every time), no sulphates, cruelty-free, can buy it at Woolworths and doesn't dry my skin. NZ is really churning out some great skincare ♥♥♥...

L'Occitane Intensive Hand Balm (150ml, RRP $47)

Holey guacemoley, this is the biggest, fattest most long-lasting tube of hand cream I've ever come across! Gifted by beautyheaven ages ago, I've been looking at it in my drawer for yonks, not wanting to make a dent in it. It's the most enriching hand cream, smells delish, and it worked wonders on my old skin. My only beef is with the packaging - why oh why do L'Occitane keep using metal for their tubes? The cap is so tiny that it won't stand up on my bedside table plus the lid is so fiddly to screw back on, and from the first use, the tube looks crap - battered and worn, and halfway through it started splitting at the sides. Boo!...

Not unless it comes in a travel size, or they change the packaging to plastic...

L'Oreal Clinically Proven Lash Serum (2ml, RRP $29.95)

Can you believe it I've stopped buying RapidLash after 5 years - either my lashes are used to it, they changed the formula, or I'm buying fakes, but anyway it's not working any more. And because I no longer photograph my eyes, I figured I can survive with what nature gave me. But given I apply three coats of waterproof mascara almost every day, I wanted to show my lashes a little bit of love, and this works a treat. Keeps them supple and I've not had any breakages since I've been using it ♥♥♥...

Mirenesse Fast Fix Solutions Chin Tuck (40g, RRP $79) 

This is one that had been lying idle in my drawer for over a year. It did nothing for my saggy neck or double chin but it came in a VIP pack so at least I didn't waste $80 on it. It feels lovely when applied, and there's a steel roller built into the tube, but I think my under-chin is just too far gone ha ha!...

These should have been appearing in my Regulars section since I started these Empties posts - I usually go through two packs every month. Not necessarily on my face, although I have used them occasionally when I've been in a hurry to get to bed - I use them to clean my brushes daily. It's the best way I've found - the brushes don't get wet and they never shed ♥♥♥...

Recommended by dear Fawn - thanks treasure! Absolutely LOVE this eye cream, in fact I think it's my latest contender for the HG title. Very calming, cooling and soothing, I noticed the fine wrinkles under my eyes disappeared in the first few days - let's hope it works as well on the crevasses! ♥♥♥...

SheaMoisture African Black Soap Clarifying Facial Wash & Scrub (118ml, RRP $29.99)

I'm a massive fan of this brand. This is a lovely and gentle scrub that's full of goodness, enriching and doesn't irritate my skin. It's very runny though, and that's why it's not my #1 - if I'm not careful it slips through my fingers and quite a bit is wasted. Love the milk lolly scent, just wish it was firmer ♥♥♥...

Skin Nutrient Goat's Milk Magic Touch Moisturiser (50g, RRP $35.95)

Another gift from a bh event. I had high hopes for this as it seemed to be sufficiently moisturising for my dry winter skin, but alas no. It would be fine for summer, but to be honest, it's just too weird. A gel with tiny white flecks (milk solids?) that are a little gritty and sometimes dissolve, but not always. For that reason, I would only use it at night. Nice fresh fragrance though and I like that they've attempted something a bit different with their packaging ♥...

Swisspers Make-up Pads (Pack of 80, RRP $3.79)

Another pack that should have appeared regularly before, but will again. I go through probably three per night when I double cleanse with micellar water. I also spray my perfume onto one and tuck it between my boobs - my bras were becoming stained from my everyday spritz, but this does the trick, keeps everything clean, and the scent lasts all day. These are the ONLY makeup pads I buy - they don't disintegrate and yet they're baby soft ♥♥♥...

Another one from beautyheaven - yes they continue to be one of my main sources of new products! A gorgeous oil cleanser that smells divine and takes off all my makeup. I've never been into oil cleansers, and I'm still not as I prefer a balm in winter, but this is truly a lovely product. Liquid oils are just too messy for me and I don't like that they drip into the basin, which is why I prefer a solid balm ♥♥...

Oh boy, my current job is so intense it has impacted my weekday nights (10-12 hour days) as well as my weekends, and this was my only sheet mask in July. I'm so glad it was a beauty - it's a one-piece with cheek splits,  one of the best face-fits ever, supremely hydrating and I could literally feel my skin soaking up the moisture. Definitely a keeper! ♥♥♥...

Was keen to try this to compare it to Milky Foot (which I reviewed in my one and only YouTube video HERE).  My verdict? It's not as effective as Milky Foot, but hey, it's half the price. As you can see above it certainly peeled a fair bit of the yucky skin off my feet after a week, and there was no discomfort whatsoever, but it was all in the form of tiny flakes and the corns on my little toes are still there. Fine if you don't have much work to do on your feet, but for my money, I'd rather pay the extra for Milky Foot and only have to do it once per year ♥...
