SPOTLIGHT: Favourite May 2019 LOTD's...

Some absolute LOTD gems last month. Only three new ones as I'm doing my utmost to work through my collection to eliminate the so-so's (lip withering duds are long gone) and see if I can narrow down the range to a set of every colour, texture and finish imaginable, but they MUST be supremely comfortable, and I have to love them to bits. Once I have the volume under control I'll do another count (last one in 2017 was over 500 which is ridiculous!). My darling friend IndieAna has been culling her collection for over a year too - I swear it takes ages lol ...

As usual, I'm starting with the browns/neutrals and working my way through to the passionate purples...

1. The Balm - Amanda Kiss My Lips. I'd forgotten what a delish formula this is - still creamy and moist at over 2 years old, and it's a beaut slightly golden brown unlike a lot of my others which contain a lot of red ...
2. Maybelline Color Sensational Made For All - Mauve For Me. LOVE this new range! I scored this (and #8 below) from a beautyheaven trial. Slightly misleading colour name as it's more like a terracotta or a deep nude than a mauve, but either way, it's gorgeous. The formula is juicy, softening and satiny, and the fact that each case is an almost perfect match to the contents adds to the appeal ...
3. Nutrimetics nc Hydra Brilliance - Russet. The perfect winter orange hey. Magical formula, I reviewed a couple of the shades HERE ...

4. Lacura Photo-Fit - Paris. Still loving these lippies from Aldi - full review is HERE ...
5. L'Oreal Color Riche Moisture Matte - Bloody Mary. Appearance number 6 or 7 in these posts - pretty safe to say this is my favourite matte red lipstick ...
6. Nutrimetics nc Hydra Brilliance - Garnet. Ditto #3 above ...

7. BarryM - 151. What a pretty coral - not as moist as some of my others, but still comfy and long wearing ...
8. Maybelline Color Sensational Made For All - Fuchsia For Me. The second one from the bh trial  Such a gorgeous pink - not too bright, and it feels as hydrating on the lips as it looks ...
9. MODE Matte - Back to the Fuchsia. Another one that had slipped into obscurity in my kit. It's over three years old, and a little too drying now so I tossed it, but would buy it again if it were still available ...

10. Jane Iredale Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist - Ella. One of the best long lasting formulas, I need more from this brand. Long wear usually means way less lip comfort, but not this baby ...
11. Avon Mark - Berry Cute. Adore every one of these I scored from mag covers - despite the number of lipsticks I have, this particular shade gets an outing every month or so because of the vibrant shade, intensity and moisture content ...
12. Maybelline Colorsensational Metallic Matte - Copper Rose. I picked this up at Priceline for $5 because it's discontinued. Discontinued? I wasn't even aware of this range! Such a shame as it's a fascinating finish - matte with a soft metallic reflect. Oh well, I bought two so I'm good for a while lol ...

Which one do you like the most?

Take care of you,

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite March 2019 LOTD's...

Given I have such an acute obsession with lipstick, I've always wanted to send a massive "thank you!" into the ether to whoever invented it. So I did a bit of digging (aka googling) and yes, no one knows who came up with it, but the practice of colouring the lips can be traced back at least 5,000 years. And in those early days, red lip colourant was often extracted from highly toxic substances that eventually poisoned the wearer, and apparently, this is where the term "kiss of death" comes from. Whoa - who knew? Fast forward to today when we still need to be careful with what we use to decorate our pouts, but fortunately, there is a multitude of choices available, both in formulation ingredients and presentations, so let's just say I'm eternally grateful to anyone and everyone who has contributed to the evolution of this most magically uplifting cosmetic ...

And so here we go with the products and hues that clanged my chimes in March ...

1. Revlon Super Lustrous - Bronze Beauty. Have had this one for a long long time - according to the purists I should have tossed it 2 years ago, but it's still going strong, comfortable, no colour change and doesn't have a weird smell. Ok, so I'm not a purist lol ...
2. Mirenesse 3D Forever Gloss - Star Struck. Another one that's older than I care to admit, but I just ADORE the colour, and they don't make it any more sob ...
3. David Jones Moisture Cream - Terracotta. This autumn stunner is a long time favourite, and exactly 2 years old - I guess you can tell that I was rummaging through my aged lippie box in March! Seriously though I've had a major blitz in the last couple of months and tossed out a whole bunch so that I can rotate my precious lippies more frequently ...

4. Appeal Cosmetics Ultra Shine Liquid Lipstick - Vixen. This one hasn't made an appearance in these posts since 2017, but I have been wearing it fairly regularly - it's the ultimate in glossy red liquid lipsticks, but you definitely need a lipliner as it has a tendency to bleed, well on me anyway ...
5. Mirenesse Mattfinity Rouge - Ibiza. This one is still available - luscious formula, intense colour, supremely comfortable, but not really a matte (thank goodness!) ...
6. Rimmel The Only 1 Matte - High FlyerLove this nudey pink - I have a few from this range and they are very kind on the lips. I've binned all the ultra-drying lip products I had in my kit, but this one is a stayer ...

7. Jane Iredale Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist - Ella. Oh oh oh, this was a freebie at the beautyheaven Glosscars event. The formula is to die for - so rich and creamy, silky smooth, and it even survived a meal. More please! ...
8. Covergirl Katy Kat Matte - Catoure. A regular in these posts, there's something about this shade that I just love on my skin, and it's also one of the non-lip-shrivelling mattes left in my collection ...
9. Lacura Photo-Fit - London. Discovered this range last November, and I've been a fan ever since. There's a fabulous red and hot pink too, but this mauve has won my heart ...

10. Maybelline Colorsensational - Pink Me Up. I admit I have now let this one go - they don't make it any more, and while it was way paler than I normally wear, I loved pairing it with the occasional pastel outfit ...
11. NYX Cosmic Metals - Fuchsia Fusion. My ultimate hot pink gloss of all time - these were a limited edition and I'm totally bummed as they were unquestionably the best metallic lip glosses I've ever tried. NYX, please reconsider!!! ...
12. Revlon Ultra HD Metal Matte Lip Color - Dazzle. One of the few matte liquid lipsticks I've kept - it's quite drying but I simply can't let this fabulous orchid purple go ...

Well lovelies, that's it for March - April will follow soon!

Take care of you,

Beautyheaven Glosscars Markeplace Event 2019...

Despite all attempts by Transport for NSW to thwart my travel to beautyheaven HQ yesterday, thankfully I made it in time to attend my nominated session of the beautyheaven Glosscars Marketplace Event. As always, it was the best and most fun 45 minutes any self-respecting beauty blogger could hope to experience - lots of new products to discover and photograph, quick chats with old (and new) friends, and expert info from the glam, warm and welcoming Team BH staff ...

This is an annual event that precedes the Glosscar Awards voting for products launched in the previous 12 months, and an opportunity for close-to-Sydney members to sample some of the nominees. I so look forward to this every year and count myself most fortunate to have received an invitation ...

The participating brands this year were Blessed by Nature, Bodecare, Handsome, Jane Iredale, Nude by Nature, Olay, Pump Haircare, Skin Nutrient and Skin Physics. Believe it or not, I'm familiar with only ONE of the products that were gifted (Nude by Nature Moisture Shine Lipstick), so I'm blissing out to have the following goodies to road test before voting begins next week ...

Blessed By Nature Foaming Facial Cleanser...

Oh yum! Containing Lavender, Aloe Vera, Calendula & Chamomile, this cleanser will have your face makeup and grime free in a flash. I used it last night to take off all my beauty-party slap - smells divine, and my second cleanse with micellar water resulted in a cotton pad that was as clean-as-a-whistle. Super effective and non-drying, the formula contains no sulphates, alcohol or parabens, it's 100% vegan, not tested on animals, and the company is all-Australian owned. Score! ...

Bodecare Organic Egyptian Loofah...

The biggest loofah I've ever seen, let alone used! Also vegan, I gave my bod a good going over with this gem in the shower this morning, and I'm sold. It feels really nasty when dry - by that I mean hard and as scratchy as sandpaper, but as soon as you wet the sponge, it softens and becomes flexible while retaining enough firmness to give your skin a thorough and stimulating sloughing - a few weeks of this and I'll be loving my thighs again ...

Handsome Men's Skincare Facial Moisturiser...

As this moisturiser contains Organic Cedarwood, Bergamot, Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Rosehip and Vitamin E, the man of the house may not even get to try it lol! Only joking of course - I'll have to report on this at a later date, but I can tell you that it absorbs in seconds and smells like a herb garden after a spring rain. Also Aussie-made and not tested on animals - definitely a contender for a prize ...

Jane Iredale Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist Lipstick...

Oh wow - this is my kind of lipstick! Smooth and creamy, full of moisturising goodness (Moringa, Avocado and Sunflower Seed Oils), vegan, cruelty-free, AND it lasts for hours. Where have you been all my life? I chose the shade Ella, which according to the information card we were given is a "deep rose brown", although in the artificial light I thought it was more of a plummy pink. I wore it today and the shade is incredibly flattering, the formula is exceptionally comfortable, and I didn't need to re-apply after breakfast. Adore! Instagram swatch will be up this week ...

Nude by Nature Moisture Shine Lipstick...

I'm already a fan of Deep Plum and Garnet in this range, and the formula is a beauty. Delighted to have received Blush Pink for those days when I want a quiet but pretty nude. The Vitamin E, Kakadu Plum, Shea Butter & Jojoba Oil content keeps my lips moist and supple for hours. It's going to be a tough decision as to which of these two brands to vote for - I'm hoping there'll be two categories so I don't have to choose! ...

Pump Haircare Thickening Mask with Gotu Kola Extract...

So looking forward to trying this hair mask which has heaps going for it - sulphate free, contains Soy and Rice Protein, Olive Leaf, Gotu Kola (a scalp nourisher, I looked it up) & Horsetail extract and Argan Oil, cruelty-free, and it smells delicious enough to put on my face. Only needs to be left on for 10 minutes, but you can sleep in it too ...

Skin Nutrient Goat's Milk Magic Touch...

This moisturiser was a huge surprise - it looks like oatmeal coloured jelly, and I can see and feel teeny little pearly balls as I massage it in, but they dissolve almost immediately leaving my skin feeling crazy soft and hydrated. I treated myself to this last night and woke up to a super smooth and perfectly moisture-balanced complexion. This will be ideal for me for the coming cold season ...

Skin Physics Advance Super Lift Hand & Nail Renewal Cream...

Well now, this just might be my new go-to anti-ageing hand cream. We saw some before and after photos of weathered, wrinkly and spotty hands transformed into smooth, even-toned and plumped paws - will let you know how this goes, but coming from Skin Physics, I'm supremely confident of some obvious improvement in my hands and nails. Contains SP15 and caviar! ...

Olay Regenerist Whip Active Moisturiser & Magnemasks Infusion Hydrating Sheet Mask...

The only presentation stand I forgot to photograph! There are three formulations in the Whip moisturiser, and predictably I chose the Regenerist flavour which is aimed at firming skin and reducing lines and wrinkles, all of which I need a lot of ha ha. I used this today under my makeup and it helped control the shine I normally experience in my T-zone, but my skin still feels hydrated now 12 hours later. I'm already a huge fan and regular user of the Rejuvenating Sheet Masks, so I opted for the Hydrating variety. These masks are one of the easiest to use as there's no fiddling around with backing sheets, the coverage is excellent, and they're one of the best face-fits on the market ...

Event Babe Gallery...

Why do I punish myself by having my photo taken with stunning women? Because they are all such gorgeous human beings, and who doesn't want to surround themselves with beautiful things!...

This is darling Leah aka Temporary Princess - don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like her?

And here's my dear pal Ingrid aka Fabulous and Fun Life - she's that magical blend of beauty and wisdom...

And this is the stunning Izzy from Team bh - isn't she gorgeous? I would kill for her skin...

And who knew there was a supermodel on the beautyheaven team? Well, her name is Sophie and she's a total doll - glam goals!

There were delicious snacks and drinks provided as well, and all up it was a fun and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Huge thank yous to beautyheaven and all the sponsors for the opportunity to try these terrific products. Best of luck to the nominees!

Take care of you,
