Maybelline, you've done it again! In my opinion, MNY are the #1 drugstore brand for the most consistently fabulous lip products - these Vivid Matte Liquids are exceptionally good, and by far the most comfortable liquid lippies of all the ones I've tried of late. Flat matte lip products are all the rage, but I struggle with the inevitable drying effects, usually within half an hour of application. Some are tolerable if re-applied, but others need to be removed completely to avoid streaking and clumping, and that's a pain for me when I'm at work. This range is NOT matte (yay!) - more like a satin with a slight gloss, although they do dull down once they dry. But I'm so enamoured with both the formula and colour range, I bought the whole set ♥...
Not just moisturising, they're also creamy and light yet dense enough to cover the (in some places deep brown) freckle pigmentation that I have, on both the fleshy part of my lips as well as the outline. All but the two nudes leave behind a generous stain after a meal (although they do transfer), and the hues are stunning - from nude through pink to hot pink, orange, plum and an absolutely sensational red! I could rave on all day, but I'll let the swatches do the talking ♥...
This first one is Plum Possessed - such a pretty plum with quite a bit of brown content - I'll be putting this away till Autumn. The one on the right is Nude Flush, the most gorgeous nudey pink in my kit, I absolutely adore it ♥...
One the left is Nude Thrill - another fabulous nude with a hint of orange, just to make it interesting. And that flaming fruit sensation next to it is Orange Shot - a stunner for the brave, and one I'll be wearing over and over again throughout the Summer...
And here we have what I reckon is the cream of the crop - Rebel Red. SO bright, SO bold and SO vibrant. On the right is Fuchsia Ecstasy - a sassy pink that's has so much red in it, it's almost a red...
These pinks look very similar, and they are, but not quite as much as my shonky camera portrays them. The first one, Berry Boost, is deeper and has a drop or two of blue in it, whereas Electric Pink on the right is considerably brighter and definitely high voltage...
The applicator is the traditional does foot spongey kind with a slight curve - super easy to apply, and the cap locks in place with a few twists...
L to R: Posessed Plum, Nude Flush, Nude Thrill, Orange Shot, Rebel Red, Fuchsia Ecstasy, Berry Boost, Electric Pink |
I'm plum loco about them all! Not exactly cheap at $17.95 a pop, but I managed to pick up most of them for half price at Chemist Warehouse - they're pretty much out of stock now as their sale has been going on for a while, but you might be lucky. Yet another triumph Maybelline - keep 'em coming ♥♥♥...
Have you tried any of these liquid lippies? Which shade do you think would suit you best?
Take care of you,
kats xxx
P.S. You'll find this post and many more over at Ingrid's Monday Madness Link Up Party ♥...
Nude Flush looks GORGEOUS!! I love a good pink/nude lipstick and like you I don't like the overly drying effect of a matte liquid lipstick so these sound fabulous! I will definitely have to pick one up to try for myself :) x
ReplyDeleteIsn't she a pretty one Marisa? Definitely my second fave after Rebel Red ♥
DeleteSome stunning lip shades here Kats! Nude Flush is my fave, loving the pretty pink tones in it ♡
ReplyDeleteSure seems to be a popular one hon - interestingly I find it quite a challenge to find soft pinks that don't make me look ill, but this one is a beauty ♥
DeleteI have the plum possesed and I love it! The consistency is really lovely too. I've been wondering about the other colours so it's nice to see them all on! xx
ReplyDeleteSo glad you've found one you love Laura - I've no doubt these will be on special soon so you can add to your collection. I so appreciate seeing lip colours on other gals too - sure helps when it comes to decision time lol xxx
DeleteI'm loving Berry Boost and Rebel Red! Great swatches, I've been looking at these, but haven't yet picked one up. xx
ReplyDeleteNice choices Di - honestly I have SO many lip products, and no two are the same! Well that's my excuse anyway ha ha ♥
DeleteAs always I could only do the nudes, but you pull them all off! My lips are soooo dry and dehydrated that I have a hard time with anything remotely matte. I just bought two burt's bees lippies that I hope to review, I was feeling like I want something natural. xo
ReplyDeleteWell you wouldn't have any trouble with these Amy - very moisturising. My lips need all the help they can get! I only have one Burt's Bees lipstick and I love it - just read your review, the colour you chose looks so lovely on you xxx
DeleteThanks, Kats. I do want to try another colour now in the Burt's Bees. But I'm disappointed that they are no longer CF
DeleteWhat a pity Amy - gee, I wonder if they shifted their manufacturing to China?
DeleteThey are selling there now, and since they require testing on animals to sell there (so dumb!) ,they are not longer CF :*
DeletePlum Possessed, Nude Flush & Berry Boost would be my picks! These look and sound amazing! Great swatches!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ingrid - as always I hope that my swatches are helpful to other gals. It always amazes me how different the colours turn out once they hit my pucker xxx
DeleteThey look stunning. Gotta love a Chemist Warehouse sale too!!
ReplyDeleteI'd be a whole lot poorer if it wasn't for CW Beth - gee wiz I shudder to think how much I've spent in their store over the last 12 months, but then I feel pretty chuffed because I know I've saved heaps ♥♥♥
Deleteoooh the shades look so vivid! love them may have to pick some up
ReplyDeletehttp://maybemayhemmakeup.blogspot.com.au/
They sure are nice and bold hon - the red one is especially striking, well worth a try xxx
DeleteI'm a huge matte liquid lipstick junkie! Nude Flush is absolutely stunning. I have to go swatch it asap.
ReplyDeleteNude Flush seems to be the favourite here Renu, understandable because it's so very flattering. If you're crazy about liquid lippies, then you'll need at least one of these in your collection lol xxx
DeleteI've heard many things about these lipsticks. Many people threw them away and wrote bad review only because they are not matte, which is such a shame, I think. I'm not a fan of matte lips, so I wanted to try these "matte" lipsticks for a long time. When I finally find Plum Possessed and Nude Flush, I will definitely buy them. They look gorgeous. :)
ReplyDeleteWell I guess for die-hard mattophiles, then these would be disappointing Michelle. Same for the Revlon ones - I agree it's a pity they haven't had better write-ups, but both brands feel so much more comfortable on my dry old lips than the true mattes xxx
DeleteLove them all Kats! Before I went Natural/Green, I loved Maybelline and NYX lippies! These look to have a great formula. I do not like the over drying of a lippie either. They all look great on you too <3 Tal xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Tal - I plan to gradually shift to more natural products, but meanwhile I admit I'm loving these. Gonna be a challenge to give them up xxx
DeleteThey all look amazing ...I think i would have to go for nude flush, plum possesed and then Orange shot. I cant choose just one :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the spirit Fawn - the more the merrier if you like them hey! Delighted you fancy the Orange Shot - I love it, but not many gals go for orange ♥
DeleteThanks for the detailed review Kat, I have not tried them but thinking of buying few shades. I like electric pink and berry boost.
ReplyDeleteAhh you go for the bright bold pinks Faiza - well those two are gorgeous, and I've no doubt you'd love them xxx
DeleteHow on earth do you do such great swatches? They are gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteLol you're so kind Leah - one thing about posting an LOTD on Instagram just about every day is that you get plenty of practice ha ha! ♥♥♥
DeleteYour lipstick pics are always on point! I've been lusting after these so I must just bite the bullet and buy some. I can't even pick a favourite shade. They all look so nice x
ReplyDeleteAww thanks Louise - in hindsight the photos I used to take were woeful, there's always room for improvement hey. I couldn't choose just one either - hope you can find them on special so you can pick up a few xxx
