REVIEW: Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Color...

Time for truthies - I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I heard that Revlon had released this new Ultra HD Gel Lip Color range  I have no doubt I'm in the minority, but I'm hanging till this matte lip craze starts to loosen it's grip on the market. Oh I think it's a fabulous look for lots of gals, but for someone of my age whose lips end up looking like dried prunes, it's not so good. There's the comfort factor as well - my lips in their natural state are bone dry, and while I've found some matte formulas that are not quite so matte, and contain enough lubricant to keep my lips from literally sticking together, they are in the minority. So thank you Revlon for bringing out some non-matte ultra-moist lipsticks in stunning shades - I'm as happy as a clam, and even happier that I scored these for almost half price!...

I was SO  proud of my restraint at only buying four, but hey, I probably have enough lipsticks to open a shop lol. Absolutely adore the colours I chose - they are from left to right, Adobe, Vineyard, Dawn & Twilight. Beautifully moist, perfect pigmentation (not too sheer, not too dense), and the lippie tip is angled for easy outlining, although I always need a lip liner. The metallic tube finish is a pretty close match to the colour of the contents, ultra-thin and lightweight, (but a pain to photograph as they topple over at the flutter of an eyelash). There are 15 in the range, and six of them are the prettiest nudey pinks ...

Adobe

Vineyard

Dawn

Twilight

Being so moist, they don't last very long on the lips (which is why I only bought four), but the darker hues do leave a bit of a stain...

RRP is $24.95, but they're currently on special at Chemist Warehouse for $16 ...

Take care of you,
kats xxx

P.S. Adding this to Ingrid's Monday Madness Link Up Party - the page of fun blogs will be up just before sunrise ...

  1. These colors look great on you, but the price kinda surprised me. I didn't expected this, especially if they don't last very long.

    1. Thanks Michelle - they're a little pricier than other Revlon lip products, but I find that often the RRP comes down a bit once the initial launch is over. I was lucky to find them for $13.95, and I'm more than happy with that ♥

  2. Mattes are not my most fave formula either, Kat, I prefer creamy lipsticks (gloss seems to come straight off of me!). It's cool that the darker ones leave a nice stain!

    1. Yay I'm not alone Di ha ha! Yes give me a creamy lipstick with a glossy finish and I'm over the moon - straight glosses always seem to bleed on me xxx

  3. Hooray for hydration! I agree with you on that one- I have the most dehydrated lips on earth! I can't even do stains. And, I really don't mind reapplying. xoxo

    1. Lol Amy, I reckon we have soul sister lips - I'm sitting here with mine slathered in balm just so I can sip my water without feeling like they're going to split! I don't mind reapplying either hon ♥♥♥

  6. These all look so beautiful on you! I almost picked some up from Priceline in the sale, but restrained because I didn't think they would wear very well throughout the day. Though, I always need a hydrating lip colour in my hand bag!

    1. Me too Laura! They're kind of a hybrid lipstick/gloss, so they wear better than a gloss, but not as good as a lipstick. I'm happy to keep one stashed with me at all times though, they're so slim and pretty xxx

  7. I like the packaging but I'd want more punch for my pennies. Probably because I rarely reapply durng the day!

    1. Don't blame you Beth - I wouldn't pay full price for them as there are better performers out there for way less bikkies. But I do love how hydrating they are, and of course they got me with the shades lol xxx

  10. Sometimes your lips tell you: step awayyyyy from the matt lippies! I find that after wearing a few days of matt i need something a little more creamy and this gel does just that. x

    1. Yay Barbe! I too find the need to alternate, or if I wear the mattes for 2 or more days in a row, I have to top with a gloss. I loathe my lips feeling like they're going to split! These lipsticks are so lovely and juicy hey xxx
