SPOTLIGHT: 1st Quarter 2017 Fave LOTD's - Part 1...

I'm several months behind with these favourite-for-the-first-three-months-of-the-year LOTD's - whoops! Regular readers will know that I usually do four or five different posts for the various hue families, but as the next quarter is already looming on the horizon, and crazy work commitments are STILL limiting me to one post per week (boo!), so I've shrunk down the photos and condensed them into two posts. So here we go with the Nudes, Bricks, Bronzes, Corals, Mauves & Pinks ...

L to R: Crop Mineral Lipstick - Spice, Hola Neon Velvet Liquid Lipstick - DF, Rimmel The Only 1 Matte Lipstick - Look Who's Talking

As you can see, I enjoy a wide variety of formulas and finishes. The Crop Mineral Lipstick is exceptionally comfortable, and keeps my lips hydrated throughout the day. The Hola Liquid Lipstick came in a Lip Monthly bag, and it's amazingly non-drying, smooth as silk, and lasts for hours. The Rimmel Matte Lipstick is a fave, for all the aforementioned reasons ...

L to R: Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip - Tulle, Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip - Love Bug, Same Colourpop Love Bug with Cosmoholic gloss over the top

You can probably tell I'm a Colourpop fan lol - their colours are stunners for Autumn/Winter, although I wish the formula was a little less drying. Adding the Cosmoholic gold gloss to the Colourpop Love Bug transformed it into a mind blowingly fantabulous shade, and counteracted the shrivelling effect. Absolutely LOVE this gloss (also from a Lip Monthly bag) ...

L to R: BYS Matte Lipstick - Espresso, NYX High Voltage Lipstick - Dirty Talk, NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick - Downtown Beauty

Good old BYS - it's a struggle to find a good brown lipstick, let alone one that's comfortable, but this Espresso is both.  The NYX High Voltage lipsticks have been discontinued, and I'm bummed about that as they're such great shades, and very comfy. The NYX Downtown Beauty was an answer to a prayer for a non-red brown liquid lippie - this formula is ok, but I'd prefer a tad more moisture ...

L to R: MUD Full Colour Lip Lacquer - Truly Coral, SAVVY Lipstick - Mango, NYX High Voltage Lipstick - Rags to Riches

Love me a good coral lippie - this MUD one is a beauty and lasts quite well, considering it's a gloss and it costs around $5. The SAVVY is a teeny tiny little lipstick that came in a box of 8 or 10, not sure if I can find it again. The NYX Rags to Riches is a very similar shade, but it's more hydrating than the SAVVY one ...

L to R: Cougar Mineral Lipstick - Sangria, MUD Full Colour Lip Lacquer - Wild Mauve, Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Colour - Dawn

Yet another gem from Lip Monthly, this Cougar Sangria lipstick is gorgeous - creamy and moist, and the colour has quite a punch. A second beaut gloss from MUD, and the Revlon Dawn is dear to my heart because of it's super slim and elegant case, and it keeps my lips moist and supple all day long ...

L to R: Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lip Color - Vineyard, Mirenesse Maxi-Tone Lip Bar - Soul, SAVVY Lipstick - Grape

Love this Revlon Vineyard - has a wee bit more blue in it than Dawn, and really flatters my skintone. The Mirenesse one is a pretty colour, but I struggle to get the ombre effect happening (there are two shades in the one stick). The SAVVY one is another from the "sample" box ...

L to R: Maybelline 14hr Megawatt Lipstick - Neon Pink, bhcosmetics Creme Luxe Lipstick - Pop Cultured, NYX Intense Butter Gloss - Funnel Delight

And finally the bright pinks. The Maybelline Neon Pink is a blast - very pure and clear, and it lasts for at least half a day, or until I eat something with oil in it.  Have had the bhcosmetics Pop Cultured for over 18 months and keep forgetting about it - don't know why because I adore this pink, and the formula is smooth and buttery. And of course the NYX Butter Gloss - probably my favourite glosses of all time, they're so rich and vibrant, and well, I just loves NYX ha ha ...

Part 2 will be up later this week - Oranges, Reds, Berries and Purples ...

Would any of these colours suit you?  What's your favourite lip product formula?

Take care of you,
kats xxx

P.S. Yes it's that time of the week again - time for Ingrid's Monday Makeup Madness Link Up. Be sure to check it out after 6:30am ...

  1. I tend to wear pinks & reds, but I have to say the coral section is lovely! I think I could get away with wearing the NYX shade in that bunch since it appears more pink than orange.

    1. Hey Shell, yes the corals are beaut hey - I tend to go for the more orangey ones, but Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in the shade In With Coral is more on the pinky side, and I reckon you'd love Rimmel The Only 1 Peachy Beachy ♥

  2. Wow, what a lovely collection of beautiful shades, I love colour pop love Bug and Tulle. I am still stick to cream and matte traditional lipsticks, liquid lipstick does not work really very well for me.

    1. Hey there Faiza - how interesting, you know if I bought any 5 bullet lipsticks and any 5 liquid lipsticks, I reckon the 5 stick ones would ALL be fine, but I'd be lucky if even 1 or 2 of the liquid ones would be comfortable. Give me a regular lipstick any time, can't wait for the liquid craze to die down xxx

  3. Love the pinks and pinky nudes! I think Mirenesse Soul is calling my name. MUD wild mauve is gorgeous too. I tried taking lip photos the other day and it was a complete disaster. Don't know how you do it lol

    1. The pinks/mauves are so flattering hey Alinta ♥ As for the photos I can assure you it's a struggle for me too, which is why my lip, eye and face photos always look the same. I've experimented with so many different poses, angles and lighting, and keep coming back to what works, and looks decent enough to publish lol xxx

    1. Thanks Tal - I have so many lippies it's hard to keep track of them, but these posts help me when I'm after a particular shade, and can't remember which one it was ha ha ♥

  5. You always pull off all of the colours so well! My Rimmel The Only 1 Matte lippies seem to have oxidized. Have yours? xoxo

    1. Oh dear Amy, what a disappointment. I've just checked a couple of mine and they seem fine - do they change colour when you wear them? Any lipstick looks different at the end of the day on me because of all the times I reapply - always heaps darker when I get home, but I haven't found they change colour too dramatically xxx

    1. It's a pretty good formula Laura - so glad to have a lipstick that's matte, but doesn't make my lips shrivel up too much. Matte liquid lipsticks give me a hard time so I usually slick some gloss over the top after I take the piccie ♥

  7. Why did they have to discontinue the NYX High Voltage lippies? I only have one, but it's so comfy to wear!

    1. Good question Lara! It bugs the hell out of me that I often "discover" products after they've been dumped - I have a couple of these High Voltage ones from a Priceline throw out bin, but they're awesome colours, long wearing and really quite hydrating. Boo!

  8. You have the most amazing collection of lipsticks Kats! You inspire me to try more lipstick shades and to step out of my comfort lipstick zones!

    1. What a lovely thing to say Ingrid, thanks my dear! Having taken the plunge into uncharted lipstick territory a few years ago, I can assure you it's a very rewarding step, although care needs to be taken as it can be quite addictive ha ha xxx

    1. Oh sweet Indie you're so kind thanks doll - some hues are definitely more flattering than others, some I feel so comfortable in that if I didn't have so many in my kit, I'd wear them all the time, but then I'd get bored lol. And it's unlikely you'll see any blue or green lips on these pages - nooooooo! ♥♥♥

  11. How do you get those browns to look so good Kat? They look so abnormal on me for some reason, they just don't suit me! Loving your pinks, that's my go-to shade. I love NYX too, however some of those cheaper brands you make look just at good too. Very nice post lovely lady!! xoxo

    1. Hello gorgeous! Browns can be tricky even for me Candy - my secret is to match any lipstick shade to what I'm wearing. If I coordinate everything with my outfit, then any lippie colour seems to look heaps better. And hey, my favourite pink lipstick is a $2 one by BOE Beauty!

    2. Thanks for the handy tip! I will try that out and see if it'll work for me. :) $2 bucks wow! I have tried some Boe Beauty/Boe Professional products and they are surprisingly good for their super low price. xx

    3. If you can find it, the BOE lipstick is called Shocking Matte Pink, although it's not completely matte, but the pigmentation and longevity is amazing ♥♥♥
