As promised, I did a bit of playing around with essence Metal Glam Frosted Apple using different bases. The results were mixed, but here they are:
Base: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk
Verdict: Disappointing. Came out kind of a grubby reddish brown rather than pink, and the gold sheen is somewhat muted. Boo!
Base: Camouflage Colour in Cool Pink
Verdict: Disappointing. A bit wishy-washy, and once again, the metallic sheen leaves a lot to be desired. Boo!
Base: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Too Cool
Verdict: Yay! Success at last - I KNEW this pink was gorgeous, but it took a white base to bring it out, and the gold is still shimmering there in sufficient quantity to make it interesting :-)
In summary, if you want more of the gold metallic sheen to stand out, then use a gold base. But if emphasis on the pretty pink is what you're after, then use white underneath :-)
And for comparison purposes, here is the original look using MNY Color Tattoo in Bold Gold...
Well gals, which one do you like best?
Take care of you,
kats xxx
Hey Kats!
ReplyDeleteI know you're disappointed in your first two attempts but I must say I actually like them and would wear them as a day shadow :) They really do look lovely sweety so don't be disappointed :D
Your pink EOTD is so pretty and girly :) I love it!!! The white base worked so well to bring out the pink tones. I really must buy that Maybelline Color Tattoo. I'd love to own a nice white base shadow. I've been using a pencil lately :)
Even though I love all your looks here I love your pink look the most. It really is gorgeous.
Gemma hon, so long as I get there in the end I don't mind having a play! But I'm a color gal as you know so all but the last one are just too dreary in the kits colouring book. As you might imagine ater 3 days of only pink shadow, I went beserk with multi hues today, hope the pics turn out xxx
DeleteOh yes, Too Cool is my fave base to really showcase this beautiful shadow, which I actually bought today xx
ReplyDeleteAwesome Indie - great minds (and makeup fanatics) think alike ha ha... Oooh I can't wait to see what you do with it hon - I'm so looking forward to being stunned ♥
DeleteYou are right about the bases not bringing out the pink in the first 2 eye looks; looks more shiny beige than pink. The white base certainly makes a difference in achieving a delicate pretty pink. Even though this is very pretty, I do like your original look more because of the shading at the corners. I think it gives the eyes more definition and a sexy look too :).

Hey arty, i agree hon - this kind of pastel always looks better on me if I define the crease and smoke the outer corners. Happy to know how to bring out the pink though :-)
