So I started by laying down a base of MNY Bold Gold Color Tattoo - I've been giving this deliciously creamy and sparkly gel quite a workout since it arrived, and am kicking myself for not buying it when this range first came out. This particular one is brilliantly versatile, and will give a soft glistening lift to just about anything applied over the top :-)
Next I automatically reached for my bhcosmetics Take Me To Brazil palette, but the yellows were all too yellow, so I cracked open the 120 box and found a pretty pastel lemon I hadn't tried before, plus the two greens below...
I'm always fascinated to watch youtube vids of how gals apply their shadows, and in what sequence - I've decided that it doesn't matter too much which way you go about it, so long as it works for you, but I always start with the inner corner, press the shadows on, and then blend backwards from the outside in...
Just about every eye look I create is an experiment, and looking at these two greens in the palette, I wasn't 100% sure they would work together - I classify the deeper green shade as coolish because it contains some blue, and the brighter one is certainly leaning towards the warm side of the spectrum with a fair amount of yellow in it. As a rule I don't usually mix cool & warm tones together, but I'll be playing around with this concept in the future as I suspect the combination will work just fine if I stick to the same shade family. All up I was pleasantly surprised with the result...
I used the cool green along the lower lashline instead of the lime because it's pretty close to my natural eye colour, and then added essence white kajal on the waterline...
I love how colour can change my mood - some shades are definitely calming, but I always find green to be refreshing and energising. Do you find colours affect you in different ways?
Take care of you,

What a gorgeous colour combo Kats.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely that colour can change our moods and I also think it reflects how a person feels also. No wonder your eyes are always bright and stunning!! That's definitely the Kats I know ;-)
How cute is that palette! I love all the choice of shades you have. The creations you could make with that palette are endless.
The greens you've chosen are lovely and go really well with your eye colour. :) soooo pretty!
Hey Gemma, gosh this looks even more vivid on my compute screen lol! This is only one layer of the palette, and I'll get around to using the other one at some stage - they are mainly yellows, oranges, greens & blues, all up more than I could possibly use on my eyes for the rest of my life ha ha. I have to keep reminding myself of that fact every time I'm tempted to buy another shadow, but it still doesn't stop me, whoops...
DeleteIt's surprising just how well those greens go together. I would have thought that they would clash, but no, perfection on your eyes xx
ReplyDeleteHey Indie, good to know I wasn't the only one with doubts - I think there's something in this "warm/cool is ok within the same shade family" thingy. I'll be experimenting some more of course, can't help myself lol...
DeleteI love it how you are so inventive with your eyeshadow looks, Kat. These greens are certainly nice and bright !!! It must be great trying new colour combos and it working out just fine :). Having just the right eyes surely helps. Thanks for brightening up my day with colour !!!

Bless you arty, but I can assure you my looks don't always work out - I usually don't post the duds and there's quite a few of those xxx
DeleteI see no reason why those colours you've used wouldn't work well together. I've often used lime and emerald together, but also with aquamarine, when doing craft, painting etc. I don't think there should be rules in makeup; just do what works. I sometimes mix cool and warm eyeshadows. For example, coral all over the eyelid and violet (not aubergine) in the crease and corner.
ReplyDeleteAs for the power of colour, I'm passionate about it and I have done lots of research on its healing benefits. I wear colours that are uplifting and surround my home with them.
What a treat it is to know there's another gal who loves and works with colours so much Petal - my study has been limited, but I use it every day as a support, especially to get me through stressful times ♥ I'm going to try coral and violet this week :-)
