REVIEW: Lacura Minerals Lip Gloss...

Lacura is a brand only available at Aldi stores. Sadly the Minerals range is not part of the standard cosmetics stock along the back wall, but from time to time, you'll find it on one of the tables in the middle section. Like most Aldi products, the boxes are just plonked down still inside their delivery cartons, so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled or you'll miss them. Around 6 months ago, I nabbed the Minerals Blush and Bronzer - both fabulous products for (if memory serves me correctly) under $8. I haven't seen them since (and would purchase them again in a flash) but the lip glosses and lipsticks have been there twice in that time, so there's hope :-)

The colour range of Minerals Lip Glosses is limited to four shades, but they're ever so pretty, and the ROSE one (pictured above lying on its side) is up near the top of my list of faves. The packaging is cute and funky, and although the applicator wand is quite small (a bugbear of mine with any brand) it still manages to pick up enough sheen to make it viable...

So here are the colours, from left to right: Gold Shimmer, Rose, Night Fever & Soft Brown. All but Rose are quite sheer, and I should imagine, would be subtle when worn alone, however over the top of a lipstick, the added glossy shimmer is awesome for a $4.99 mineral product. They're deliciously moisturising as well, delicately perfumed with a florally fragrance, minimal taste, and about a 5 out of 10 on the sticky/transfer scale...

Yay I managed a decent swatch!
They're refreshingly travel friendly too - a neat and compact size for handbags, and the lid screws down nice and tight. There's 8ml of product, and my only beef is that the colour is not marked anywhere on the tube - you have to keep the packaging (or refer back to this page!) if you want to buy the same shade again. Oh and the blurb on the box says they're suitable for sensitive and dry skin, and dermatologically tested...

      Gold Shimmer                                                    Rose
            Night Fever                                                        Soft Brown
All of them add a delicate slick of hydrating shine and colour boost to lippies, and the Rose one is particularly gorgeous - here it is over the top of the Lacura Minerals Soft Rose lipstick (review coming soon)...

And here's the Gold Shimmer one slicked over Lacura Minerals Nougat Shimmer...

  2. Hi Kats, congratulations on your impending one year blog anniversary, I don't know where the time went. As Monique mentioned above thanks for the opportunity to enter another generous give away. I would love to try the Lacura products, but sadly there is no Aldi shops in WA... Haha, it might be a good thing, I know that my wallet would be a bit lighter! Claire xx

    1. Thanks my dear Claire - so glad you've entered hon, and how silly that Aldi hasn't made it out west yet. Trust me, if they ever do, you'll be picking up bargains galore ♥

  3. I have never tried any of the Aldi skincare or makeup.
There is an Aldi within driving distance of where i live but its a bit of a pain to get to and the parking is not that great so i dont really venture there. I did go there once to get a mattress for my youngest daughters bed a few years back and i must say the mattress is wonderful.

    1. Well this is the perfect opportunity for you Fawn, especially knowing your luck with winning my giveaways lol ♥ I've been delighted with all my Aldi purchases, except for the Christmas lights I bought last year - they stopped working within a few weeks, but hey, one dud out of a hundred is a pretty good track record. I've bought watches, clothing and computer equipment as well, and find the quality is far better than stores like Kmart and Target for similar items...

  4. I have tried the blushes, they're lovely and only a couple of dollars each! I'm dying to try the skincare, I've heard their serums are excellent and only around $20 - $25. If it wasn't for the million-year checkout line in Aldi I'd be there every day, I've gotten some great bargains, but I have to be in the mood to queue!

    1. Right with you there Krissy - I had the same problem before I moved house. The whole thought of 10 shoppers in each queue (some with full trolleys) kept me out of the store completely. Where I am now I'm fortunate that there isn't the same volume of customers at my preferred times and I can be in and out in 10 minutes. I've tried some of their Renovage creams and serums and the quality is on a par with products 3 times the price ♡

  7. I just had my first Lacura purchase last week and I bought an eye cream and facial wipes. I didn't see any lippies though! :(
I love your lips pics (sounds like a tongue twister)! I've been trying to take pics of my lips the way you do it but it doesn't come out as nice as yours! I always end up with a duck face! LOL
Thanks for another great giveway! :)

    1. Hey there Smiling - ahh yes, sadly the lippies are not obvious. They were reasonably close to the front, all boxed and almost camouflaged in amongst a whole bunch of other stuff. I've literally had to train myself to spot them! The lip pics (ha ha) have taken many months of practice and experimentation with different angles and lighting, so don't give up. Trust me on this - you wouldn't believe how many photos of my mouth I've binned just to get a few decent ones xxx
