I'm on a bit of a Nutrimetics bender at the mo', purely because just about everything I've bought from them lately has been so brilliant. I have limited time for blogging (boo!) and have to be selective with my precious few writing moments, so let me introduce you to another of my recent acquisitions that's totally worthy of a dedicated blog post, the Nutri-Rich Cleansing Balm with Apricot Oil, which was bundled in with the fabulous nc Hydra Brilliance 50th Anniversary Lipsticks deal I indulged in last month...
Up until now, my exposure to cleansing balms has been limited to one only, but I'm sold on the concept for the cold weather when my skin morphs into a beast that's unrecognisable compared to how it is in Spring/Summer. Once the daytime temperature stops climbing above 18 degrees, I experience dryness where there used to be a sea of oil, accelerated flaking, tiny little surface cracks, and my wrinkles seem to plummet to frighteningly new depths. Fortunately, it's only a temporary aberration (well every year I HOPE it's temporary lol!) but it's awful all the same, so I'm forever on the lookout for products that will help me endure this shrivelly time of year. So I've ditched my zingy gels and foams and handed over my cleansing routine to this enriching balm. It's an absolute beauty. Along with the pleasure of experiencing the Nutrimetics trademark Apricot Oil scent, it gives my face a glorious whack of soothing and hydrating nourishment while gently melting away all the slap I wear on a daily basis...
The formula is intriguing - it looks like a gel when dispensed, but the minute a dollop hits the warmth of my hand, it starts melting into a thick fragrant oil. I then add a little water and massage the (by now slightly milky) mixture all over my face and neck. It's such a lovely experience that I've been taking a wee bit more time with my ritual to really work it into my skin. Removal is just as pleasurable using a soft cloth and warm water. Actually, included with the bundle was the softest face cloth I've ever owned (pictured above) - it's a long oval shape, as gentle as a baby's kiss, and the perfect companion for the balm...
So full of goodness, the formula contains sesame protein, micro-algae complex, corn sugar, rice starch and apricot fruit extract. The tube is a generous 100ml and sells for $39, but it's on special right now as an introductory offer for $29.90 and includes the super soft face cloth for free (normally $15)...
GIVEAWAY!
And the good news is that the lovelies from Nutrimetics also included a balm and cloth in the lipstick parcel that arrived a few Fridays ago, so I have one of each to give away!

I tend to stick to the same routine for the most part but I guess here in QLD it doesnt get as bitterly cold as elsewhere. I take my lead from my skin and if I find that it needs a change then I go with it. If more hydration is needed then Rosehip or one of the other oils is added. Im not using it at the moment but im really loving Avocado oil.
ReplyDeleteMmm Fawn Avocado Oil sounds delish and I can imagine the benefits - do you buy a specialised face version, or just cold pressed from the health food store?
Deletebtw...this cleansing balm sounds wonderful. Im using the Natio cleansing balm at the moment which is lovely and I have been thinking how great a balm would be to take travelling with me rather then cleansing oil.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea when you're on the move - I didn't know Natio made one, thanks hon xxx
DeleteI change my routine in the winter to a hydrating cleanser plus I use a heavier moisturizer in my routine.
ReplyDeleteName Suzanne Giroux
Hi Suzanne, same as me - I find my usual day & night creams just aren't potent enough to get me through the big freeze x
DeleteOh I loved how you wrote this post. The description of this balm was like reading an interesting novel. You r a good writer. I love cleansing balms
ReplyDeleteI have a collection of them. I would love a new face cloth. This one sounds good.
Moonlight my dear, thank you so much for your words of encouragement, what you've said means a lot to me ♥ As a blogger it's easy to slide into a routine of repeating the same descriptive phrases so I do try to add a little spice and variety to my prattle lol ♥
DeleteHi Kats. I don’t alter my skin care routine in the colder months but I should. There’s nothing worse than leaving it til right before bed to cleanse with cold water then getting your sleeves all wet. So a cleansing balm or oil or both is an excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteI agree entirely Okatko - forget splashing water on my face, it's too much of a shock ha ha! I'm loving this balm, and the cloth is sooooo soft - I soak it in comforting warm water, wring it out, and then hold it over my face to drink in the warmth and let the balm go deep before I wipe it off ♥
DeleteHi Kats, great review on another Nutrimetics product - never tried this one but it reminded me of their Nutri-rich oil that I used to use - it smelt of apricots and was quite divine! For work days in the office I wear the same moisturiser as usual cause it is light and helps me avoid shine, but I do amp up my night-time routines, and vary them. I love macadamia oil and Shea butters which are a bit thicker and give my skin some good hydration. I also tend to use facial wipes more often in Winter to clean my face cause the water is too cold!
ReplyDeleteWell now Gina you'd adore this balm - the fragrance is almost identical to the Nutri-Rich Oil, it's just a different consistency, but just a moisturising. Those oils and butters sound nourishing, and the face wipes are indeed a great idea xxx
DeleteHi Kat, thank you for the giveaway! I typically lather on more layers of toner during the colder months to increase my hydration, and I also use a thicker version of my holy grail moisturiser. I also make sure to use facial masks more frequently. For my body, I've been enjoying Thankyou's coffee scrub - it's probably the best hydrating body scrub I've ever used!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the masks Jo, and the Thankyou scrub is one of my favourites too - just finished a tub last month and made sure I picked up another one pronto. I find it doesn't make quite as much of a mess of my shower as others I've tried too, it all just rinses down the drain without leaving chunky bits on the walls ha ha xxx
DeleteI love using really nourishing products on my skin in winter to prevent it from drying out. I enjoy using a nice, creamy body butter. This cleansing balm looks lovely, hope you got to have fun using it as well, Kats! x
ReplyDeleteWhere would we be without body butters hey Isabel? This balm is a total pleasure to use - even if I'm having a late night, I can't bear to cut corners off my routine and miss out on the experience ♥
DeleteI'm the opposite: in winter my complexion always looks its best, in summer I'm always red, sweaty & p---ed off! I'm loving this time of year!
ReplyDeleteLol - I can't win either way hon, I'm either shrivelled or covered in an oil slick!
