February 2021 Empties & Giveaway!...

Hope March has been kind to you - it's the busiest time of the year for me workwise as my employer has a 31st March End of Financial Year. So it's been 12-hour days for me for the last three weeks, and not much left in the tank for personal activities like blogging - boo! But the end (of the month) is in sight, and I've managed to put together my smallest Empties collection in a long, long time. I guess it's because there were only 28 days in February - either that or I have way too many products on rotation. Anyways, here we go with a very limited post, but a nice little collection of Nutrimetics goodies in the giveaway...

Body

Help@Hand 100% Pure Cotton Tips (200pk, RRP $2?)
I bought these because at the time they were the only ones available at Woolworths. Almost as good as Johnson's, which I don't seem to be able to buy anywhere any more. They are quite good quality, and the recyclable box has a hinged click-down lid, which I'll use to store broken jewellery or other bits and pieces ...

Weleda Lavender Creamy Body Wash (200ml, RRP $19.95)

Face

Bioré Yuzu Lemon + Dragon Fruit Brightening Exfoliating Scrub (103.5ml, RRP $9.99)
Absolutely crazy about this scrub - the lemon & dragon fruit scent is so tangy and refreshing in the morning, totally wakes me up. The beads are firm and fine (I think they are made of wax) but have enough oomph to shift any flakey bits without causing any irritation, and my skin feels super smooth afterwards. Didn't notice any brightening effect, but I never really give a scrub a chance to perform as advertised because I use a different one each day. In summary, this is a winner ...

Ooh yes ...

IT Cosmetics Confidence in an Eye Cream (15ml, RRP $59)
I won this in a set from an Adore Beauty Instagram comp. A wondrous cream that improved the appearance of my under eye area from the first application. The pale apricot tint instantly neutralises any darkness (which I didn't realise I had) and brightens and refreshes the skin. Overall I looked less tired, and that's certainly a bonus. I found it to be sufficiently hydrating for my dry skin, my concealer sat nicely throughout the day without any creasing or flaking, and it even seemed to firm my eye bags a little. My only beef is that once the level drops, it's quite difficult to extract the cream without a spatula due to the squat shape of the jar. A minor irritation though, this is a beauty ...

I'm going to try my fave Olay one again for comparison - depending on the results I may well buy this one in future ...

Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence (40ml, RRP $39.99)

Fragrance

Chi Chi Strawberry & Violet EDP (50ml, RRP $19.95)
The next empty bottle of this beautiful scent will be in the Regulars section. Adore this, and it's one of the few fragrances that I buy over and over again. Review from when I first discovered it back in 2015 is HERE ...

Hi Lift True Colour Hair Colour Creme - Extra Light Intense Ash Blonde (100ml, RRP $7.50)
Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector (100ml, RRP $49.95)
Wella Koleston Perfect Permanent Creme Colour - Special Mix Clear (60g, RRP $19.97)

Makeup

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (RRP $22.99)
I used this to blend my foundation (stick or liquid kind) - it was excellent for literally pushing the cream into my gaping pores, and left me with a streak-free flawless finish. Bought it 12 months ago and was quite impressed, but it started to shed badly, so I switched to a Manicare Glam one, which is going splendidly so far ...

I've not found a foundation brush that survives longer than a year, so...maybe ...

Sephora Color & Sculpt Stick - 01 Clear Light (5.5g, RRP $19)
One of the more successful attempts I've made at finding a cream contour that's a suitable colour for my skin tone. Most on the market are too orangey, and my favourite Australis palette that had the perfect shade has been discontinued. This one worked quite well, although I still had to mix it with a lighter yellowish pan from another brand. The search continues ...

If I'm unable to find a better colour match, then probably yes ...

  1. Always look forward to your blog Kats and how dare work get in the way of your beauty regime and blogging!
Easter plans are to have a break from work and enjoy the cooler autumn weather, that is unless Perth decides to spring another few days of hot weather upon us. I plan to sloth out and read, organise my stash and hopefully get in some serious pampering. I must'nt forget to walk my dogs though.
    Happy Easter to you.

    1. Happy Easter to you too Tracy! Thanks for your lovely comment my dear - throughout my career I've had many periods requiring intense attention and focus, but usually only for a week max. This has been going on for a whole month and there's a price to pay for long work hours - hoping the pressure will ease now that we're over the financial deadline. Your plans sound glorious! ♥

Hello Kats!! Oh what a wonderful blog, so many products. the Chi Chi strawberry and violet does indeed sound wonderful. I see you also mentioned Olaplex number 3, i am keen to give this a go.

Easter is a nice relaxing time at home. I will have my Mum over on Sunday, and cook a lovely meal for her. Otherwise i will just be happy to stay home with my husband and son, lots of cooking, eating, some tv, lots of game, some housework and chores, just nice at home xx

I hope you have a lovely break over Easter too xxx

    1. Hey SAE your Easter sounds like a special one ♥ I've been working from home a lot over the last month as I can get a lot more done without the whole office interaction/interruption thingy happening, but I'm looking forward to leaving my work room (lol!) and getting out into the other spaces, the garden and a few neighbourhood walks too. It felt good to shut down the laptop last night and actually put it away ♥

  3. I had plans to get a plumber in to connect all my plumbing in my bathroom but sadly thats not happening as they stood me down at work 3 weeks ago and I have another 3 weeks to go :( bye bye saving that I was going to spend on a plumber. Ah well....my bathroom has not been operational for over a year so i guess it can wait. Thank goodness I have an ensuite :D

The good news is that my daughter from Far North QLD will be arriving on Easter Saturday. I have to do the long drive to Brisbane to collect her from the airport. She gets in at 7 at night....eck. It will be lovely to have her hear though.

    2. Thank you Kats. Thankfully my frive to Brisbane went smoothly. Im glad it was last night and not today as today the heavens have opened up and we are under flood watch (my house is safe) The warnings say we are expecting 200mm of rain over the nest 24hrs and then another 200mm the following 24hrs.

      Have an awesome weekend.

    1. I know the feeling CJ - sometimes family commitments can seem quite the burden, but hopefully there'll still be some time for you to read, munch and relax in your special space.
Can thoroughly recommend the Weleda body washes - I'm a recent discoverer of this brand and have fallen in love with everything I've tried so far ♥

  7. Phew Easter plans? I just want to throw my feet up and indulge in the company of my kids really. It has been such a whirlwind past few weeks getting through the last few weeks of school for them and LUCKILY I'm currently on 4 weeks leave from work, so hooray for me, so needed and thoroughly enjoying just being at home. :)

How about you Kats, would love to hear your plans? Rory asked me on the way home from school yesterday if we could decorate the house for Easter like we do for Christmas... oh boy how do I get out that this one? >_< hahaha!

    1. Candy dear, I don't know how you juggle looking after your babes AND work - hope the next few weeks give you some time for yourself. Apart from a birthday lunch here tomorrow (a friend, not mine) the only plans I have are for resting, switching my wardrobe to cooler weather clothes & shoes and maybe rearranging the house a little for the seasonal change ♥
