REVIEW: Breeze Balm Pineapple Pash...

Well, the seasonal change has been quite sudden here in old Sydney town - two weeks ago I was in shorts and sandals, and this week I dusted off my boots (and on one particularly chilly morning, a woolly scarf). It's like someone flicked a switch and turned off the heat lol! Not that I mind - I'm a warm weather gal, but even I enjoy a break from the steamy days and hot nights, and who doesn't like to snuggle under the doona? Plus I'm bored with my summer wardrobe ha ha. But the cooler winds mean my skincare routine also has to change to include something considerably more moisturising, and I've found the perfect balm to keep my pucker soft and silky smooth - Breeze Balm by Sammy Leo ♥...

I'd never heard of this brand before, but the lovely Renee contacted me with an offer to try one of their flavours, and I jumped at the chance to sample Pineapple Pash.  Great choice kats! Holey guacamoley, this puts the pineapple back into pineapple! With a fabulously delish scent and taste, the balm itself is dynamite for dry flakey lips. Thick and rich and outrageously hydrating, this creamy balm will blast away dry scratchy skin even before you've finished applying it ♥...

I've also been rubbing it onto the red patches on my elbows, and these notoriously scaly areas were transformed into soft supple NORMAL skin after only one application. So it isn't just for lips, but spreading it onto anything but my pout seems such a waste of the fruity fragrance and taste, so I'm planning on ordering a tube of one of the more subtle scented choices, like the vanilla Hero one. But what I really REALLY want is the limited edition Bananas For You -  sigh...I bet it's heavenly ♥...

All up there are seven varieties for $19.95 each, and the generous 15g tube is jam-packed with lanolin and beeswax, and has an angled tip for easy application. All are paraben free, no mineral oils, artificial colours or ethanol, and they're not tested on animals - perfect ♥...

REVIEW: Nutrimetics Nutri-Rich Intensive Lip Treatment SPF18...

Well now here's yet another Nutrimetics product I've added to my can't-live-without list ♥ Their Nutri-Rich Intensive Lip Treatment with SPF18 is one of my recent purchases (and a bargain one too), and I'm excited to at last have a lip balm in my kit that not only performs brilliantly, but it looks absolutely gorgeous too!...

This super-softening balm has the look and feel of a high-end lipstick. The case is a glam metallic gold base and cap with a silver (labelled) band in the middle. No more tatty balm sticks with the label wearing off - this one is a stunner, and one I'll be keeping in my handbag forever lol!...

Inside the tube is 3.8g of product - apricot kernel oil and Vitamin E blended into a non-sticky non-greasy lipstick bullet that beautifully hydrates my pout with a slight sheen, plus there's SPF18 for added UV protection. It has the familiar Nutrimetics apricot oil fragrance, but it's very VERY faint, and has the merest hint of an apricot taste...

Like most Nutrimetics products, the trick is to wait for them to be on sale, which fortunately is often. This balm has an RRP of $36, which is way over the top for what it is, and for my budget, but it's available at the moment for $14.90, so I snapped up several...

REVIEW & GIVEAWAY! - Grahams Natural Anti-Aging Skincare...

Being the skincare fanatic that I am, I was delighted when Grahams Natural contacted me early in June, and sent me their Anti-Aging day and night creams to trial and review. I was not familiar with this Aussie brand at all, but having read the story HERE of how they researched and developed their Calendulis Plus eczema cream and Bath Oil, as well as other treatments for psoriasis & dermatitis, I was confident that they knew their stuff as far as meeting skin hydration needs were concerned. I've been using the Natural Moisturising Cream and Natural Hydrating Night Cream for 2 weeks, loving them both, and wanted to spread the word AND share the love, so I hope you'll keep reading to the end for the giveaway ♥...

The Natural Moisturising Cream with Seaweed Extract comes in a 125ml plastic recyclable pump bottle - no packaging glam here, no frills, no gimmicks. The pump is sturdy, and it's easy as pie to adjust the amount dispensed. The cream is gentle and light but amazingly effective - it spreads effortlessly, has a delicate floral fragrance that dissipates quickly, and makes my skin feel silky soft, like I was born yesterday. Primers and foundations glide on, and I experienced no additional shine or greasiness throughout the day ♥ Note: there's no SPF content, so you'll need to add ray protection. Ingredients include Rice Bran Oil (highest), Shea Butter, Licorice Root Extract, and Bladderwrack (seaweed) Extract (rich in Vitamin C)...

One standard pump is way too much for my particular needs - I find that less than half that is plenty for my face, neck and chest area, and I expect this large bottle to last a good while. And with a price tag of $14.95, my bank manager will be beside him/herself with glee. Absorption rate is high with the right quantity, and although it's too early to tell if there are any anti-aging benefits, I can assure you my face is 100% hydrated, and my complexion looks plumped, becalmed and healthy, and not a flake of dry skin to be seen in my magnifying mirror ♥...

The Natural Hydrating Night Cream is even more potent - you can see below how little I use for such a big area, whoa! At this rate the 50ml jar will last me at least 6 months ♥ Slightly different fragrance and even more delicate, this is such a pleasure to use, and my skin feels like it has been given everything it needs to repair and regenerate while I sleep. The formula is amazingly enriching, and yet there's no excess oil on my T-zone in the morning... 

After purified water, the second highest content is Sweet Almond Oil & Glycerin, and there's also Olive Butter, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Coffee Extract and Thyme Extract. I should imagine that if you are dealing with particularly dry skin, or you are allergic to chemical-based formulas, both of these creams will answer your prayers as far as hydration is concerned. I've used a truckload of face creams throughout my life, but none quite as effective at replenishing moisture as either of these beauties ♥...

There's another BONUS - neither of them clog my pores! Congestion is something I deal with on a regular basis, and particularly when I switch to a new product range, but I've had no such issues with these formulas. By the way none of Grahams Natural products are tested on our furry friends ♥ In summary, if you're dealing with dry skin and you're after maximum hydration with no irritation, then I expect these creams will serve you brilliantly...

I was so impressed with these creams (and the cleanser reviewed last week HERE), I placed an order for some of their other goodies, with multiples of some items as I just KNEW they would be great. Plus the folks at Grahams Natural generously included a few extra products for me to try, and I'll be reviewing them over the coming weeks ♥...

REVIEW: Good Green Box - April Edition...

I feel blessed that the generous lovelies at GoodGreenBox have so kindly gifted me with the April edition of their deliciously natural (and mostly organic) collection - I was crazy about the March one (reviewed HERE), but I reckon this one is even better. Again the contents are worth over $60 (outlay of $25), but there are no less than 9 items in this haul - in fact so many goodies, the box was bulging lol ♥...

Kudos to whoever does the packing as all the treasures were crammed into the parcel, and yet nothing was damaged or even vaguely squished. I love the mix of brands and different types of products, and it's a relief to know that if I'm mad about any of them, most are purchasable from their website... 

Keeko Oil Activated Coconut Charcoal Powder...

Totally intrigued by this - on the card that comes in the box, it's listed as a mouth wash, but it multi-tasks as a teeth whitener and a face mask! Loving charcoal products as I do, I figured I had nothing to lose so I tipped a little of the powder into my hand - it's the most finely milled powdered anything I've ever come across, so whatever you do, don't sneeze! I wet my toothbrush and mixed a tiny amount of the powder into a paste, and started brushing my teeth. A word of warning - this stuff is blacker than black, and if you don't keep your mouth closed while you're brushing, you'll flick black blobs everywhere. No discernible taste, and I panicked a bit when I spat out and checked my teeth in the mirror - dark grey, so were my lips and my tongue was straight out of a horror movie! Anyways I rinsed with warm water, and that improved things considerably, although my gum line and tongue still looked grey. My teeth felt terrific though, super smooth and super clean....

Because of the grey around my gums, I brushed my teeth (and tongue) with normal toothpaste, after which everything was back to normal again, and you know what, I reckon my choppers didn't look quite as yellow as they did beforehand. But I'll have to get back to you on whether it does in fact whiten my teeth noticeably over time. Meanwhile I've put the pouch in the shower caddy ready to try it as a mask. As a rule I use all charcoal products in the shower because it's so darn messy, but the rewards are awesome ♥...

MooGoo Cow Lick Lip Balm...

How come I didn't know that MooGoo made lip balm?  Have already pampered my pout numerous times with this beauty - has a delicate (totally NOT overpowering) mandarin scent and taste, delightfully soothing and smoothing, and all the (edible) ingredients are listed on the cute-as box that's made from recycled cardboard - LOVE ♥...

Pukka Detox & Turmeric Gold Tea...

While I have one latte almost every morning, for the rest of the day I'm a devoted tea-drinker (from way back in my youth actually), so I'm looking forward to sampling these two yummies that are bursting with ethically sourced and organically grown ingredients...

Organyc Feminine Hygiene...

This sample pack contains a pad and panty shield made from 100% organically certified cotton, they're breathable and biodegradable, hypoallergenic, contain no plastic, and yet are waterproof. Thank goodness someone is thinking of us gals with sensitivities, and anyone concerned about what they keep so close to their precious girly bits. While my period days are long gone, I'm not at all comfortable unless I'm wearing a shield to keep me feeling fresh, and being allergic to most brands out there, this range is a very welcome discovery ♥...

RAW Body Skincare (Scrub)...

I'm SO getting into body scrubs lately, and this one sounds like it'll be a magical experience - organic coffee beans, organic virgin coconut oil, organic coconut sugar and natural Himalayan rock salt.  My skin is tingling with delight and anticipation just reading the ingredients ♥ I tried a little on my hand, it's quite gritty and grainy, smelled like there was a barista in the bathroom, and the result was ridiculously soft skin. Get ready legs!...

Nuori Vital Foaming Cleanser...

What a treat to find this full size cleanser in the box! I used it last night to take off my makeup, and it worked brilliantly. I took the cap off for the photo so you could see it's a foam dispenser - the bottle recommends one pump for regular cleansing, but I used two as I had long wear foundation to remove. It has a very very faint and pleasant fragrance, and as you massage it into your skin, it forms a white creamy smooth paste which eventually becomes invisible. You then rinse it off with warm water...

I judge the effectiveness of cleansers by a) the colour of the rinse water in my basin & b) whether second cleansing with micellar water reveals any discolouration on the cotton pad. Well, my sink water was tinted the hue of my foundation, and the micellar pad was clean as a whistle. Yay! Not only that, my skin felt super cleansed AND hydrated afterwards. Another winner ♥... 

Zuanna Cosmetics Smoothing Minerals Exfoliating Mask...

Made from Moroccan Rhassoul Clay & Marshmallow Root, rice powder, colloidal oatmeal, organic orange peel, hibiscus flower, sandalwood & licorice root powder. Oh stop! I don't want to put it on my face, I want to eat it ha ha ♥ I started my Sunday using this, and followed the instructions to mix the powder in my palm with some water. It's very pink, dries super quick and tight, and the beauty of this mask is that the whole exercise takes 5 minutes, so you can do it while you're cleaning your teeth ♥ Love that the sachet is resealable, and I reckon there's enough in the pack for 3 goes. The end result? Instantly refined pores, and becalmed baby soft skin. Hmmm...I wonder if they sell this by the kilo?... 

After sampling most of the box contents, I'm even more impressed with what this company offers - awesome value, and the introduction to mainly non-mainstream brands producing high quality products that are kind to the environment, animals and my bod. Their tagline "Better Beauty" is spot on ♥...

SPOTLIGHT: Marie Claire Ageless Parcel - February 2017...

The latest Marie Claire Ageless Parcel arrived last week - as always I couldn't contain myself till I'd opened it, and as always, it was a delight to see what goodies were inside. Some of these boxes are a tad more exciting than others, but all of them are astoundingly good value, and this quarterly offering is an absolute delight. With four full-size products and one generous sample, the RRP of the contents is around $105, and for an outlay of $25, and specifically targeting my particular ageing issues, I expect to be subscribed to these forever ♥...

Revlon UniqOne Hair Treatment (150ml, RRP $29.95)

Only available in salons. this is a leave-in spray treatment that targets 10 problem areas, and having used it today after colouring my hair, I can certainly confirm there are immediate benefits from this potently scented (but dissipates quickly) formula - sure am looking forward to the long term ones. Instructions say to spray over damp hair, but it comes out like a foam, so I just mixed about five squirts in my palms and ran my hands over my hair, paying special attention to the highlighted sections which are the most damaged. After blow drying, my tresses are softer and silkier, with loads of shine ♥..

Just prior to publishing, I noticed that I'd accidentally photographed the Italian language side of the box in the pic above (whoops!), so here's the English translation, plus the list of ingredients...

Jergens Age Defying Multi-Vitamin Moisturiser (250ml, RRP $6.99)

The skin on my bod is pretty much dryish all year round, but during Winter, it becomes twice as moisture-starved. Having used this today after my shower, I reckon I'll have no such issues this cold season - LOVE the fresh flower scent of this body lotion, it absorbs completely after 30 seconds, and leaves my skin feeling supple and completely hydrated. According to the blurb, it triples (whoa!) the moisture content of the skin if you keep using it - yes please, I'm in! ♥...

L'Occitane Precious Cream (50ml, RRP $85, sample 8ml, value $13.60)

LOVE L'Occitane products, so I was super happy to find this bubby jar in the box. If this is anything like the stunning Immortelle range (the ones in the yellow packaging), which I trialled for beautyheaven some years ago, I'll be as happy as a clam. The container is too small for a list of ingredients, but here's what the box insert has to say ♥...

I have a stack of part-finished moisturisers to clear, so I'm saving this for a cold rainy day when I want to give myself a truly luxurious treat ♥...

 Redwin Coconut Balm (25g, RRP $5.99)

At first I thought this was a lip balm, but it turns out to be one of those multi-purpose healers - can be used on insect bites, burns, rashes and cuts. It's a thick clear gel that smells exactly like fresh coconut, and it's made with 100% organic coconut oil. There's also papaya fruit, jojoba, sunflower, marigold and carrot oils in the list of ingredients, plus it's 100% vegan friendly, and not tested on animals. There's a whole stack of horrors that are NOT included as well, like SLS, parabens, mineral oils and petroleum jelly. So far I've only used it on my lips, and they're thanking me for it already ♥...

Elucent Anti-Aging Eye Cream (15ml RRP $49.99)

Chuffed to see this old favourite included in the selection. Used this entire range some years ago and loved it, but you know me and how fickle I am with skin care, I moved on to trying out a whole heap of others from the gazillion available on the market. Still I'm delighted to have the opportunity to revisit this gem. It's fragrance-free and contains 4% glycolic acid, so it packs quite a punch in the battle against fine lines and wrinkles. There's also vitamins B3, C & E in the mix, and I love that there's an expiry date on both the box and the tube. Mine says Aug 2018, so I've plenty of time to get through all the part-used eye creams that are currently on my bench (four lol) ♥...

REVIEW: Natralus Natural Paw Paw Lip Butter...

I recently won these achingly cute Natralus Natural Paw Paw Lip Butters in an Instagram comp run by my generous and beautiful gal pal (and fellow blogger) Temporary Princess.  I so rarely enter giveaways because I've been blessed with substantial wins from beautyheaven over the years, but these were just so appealing, and besides, anything darling TP promotes is always fantabulous! And so these arrived in a matter of days, and I couldn't wait to open them and give my shrivelled old pucker a treat...

They come in three delicious flavours - Strawberry, Honey & Vanilla & Coconut (my personal fave is the Strawberry), and all are free from Petroleum Jelly and Petrochemicals. I'd never heard of this brand before, but they are Australian owned, and their products are available in Coles & Woolworths. These adorable little tubes of moisturising magic contain organic papaya, are enriched with shea butter and vitamin E, and they retail for the budget-friendly price of $4.99...

The softening power is one of the best I've come across, and joy of joys, the formula isn't sticky. Under the screw top cap, the tip of the tube is angled for easy application - I'm not keen on applying products directly to my lips, so I squeeze a teeny amount (that's all that's required for total hydration) onto my finger, and then slick it onto my pout...

The moisturising effect lasts for hours, and my lips are now super supple without a trace of flaky skin. These are WINNERS!

Thank you gorgeous lady for the chance to try these beauties - they'll keep me going for a while, but I'll be restocking shortly as I don't want to ever be without the nourishment they deliver ♥

SPOTLIGHT: Urban Rituelle Prize!

Another crazily manic week, but I'm here at last, proudly displaying a prize I won for my photography - can't believe it ♥ You must know by now that taking pictures of beautiful things is almost at the top of my list of all consuming passions, and given that Urban Rituelle products are one of my favourite camera subjects, to win their December #myrituelle comp was a thrill that still has me tingling from the tips of my ears all the way down to my toes. Lemongrass, Lemon Myrtle, Grapefruit & Eucalyptus Organic Hand Cream

This was recommended to me by one of the UR team (thank you Lauren!) and I ordered two, one for me and one for my Mum. But I've fallen so passionately in love with it, I think my Mum is going to miss out - it's the lemoniest lemon fragrance you can possibly imagine...

Passionfruit Lip Balm

UR Lip Balms are my favourite of any brand I've tried - full of natural ingredients plus a sunscreen, I've been keeping my lips in top kissing form with my Ginger Apple one every day since January, and the tin is still half full! This passionfruit delight has a very subtle, sweet fruity fragrance and yummy taste - it was already on special, and this weekend there's a further 15% off. Bargain of the year!

Cotton Candy Organic Lip Balm and Petit Parfum

This smells just like toffee fairy floss, only nicer - I'm stashing the perfume away so I have a sweet treat to look forward to when Spring rescues us all from the big freeze, but the balm will have a place next to my bed (and on my lips), to remind me that Winter isn't forever...

Freebie - Hibiscus & Cranberry Perfume Oil

There's a free gift with every UR order, and it's usually one of their magnificent soaps plus a travel-sized hand cream, so imagine what a surprise it was to find one of my loves (review is here) tucked away inside the parcel. Obviously there's an angel in the dispatch department ♥

As you can see from the pics, the packaging of all products is superb, and I'll be taking advantage of their sale to nab some more favourites, as well as sampling some more wonders from their range.

REVIEW: Urban Rituelle Ginger & Apple...

I have a HUGE problem with Urban Rituelle - I love everything I buy from them, so much so that when I purchase something, often fully intending to give it as a gift to a precious friend or family member, I invariably end up keeping it for myself, which is precisely what happened here. I'd already purchased the Ginger Apple Parfum a few months prior, and found the fragrance an absolute delight, so when this Gift Set trio of the Petit Hand Cream, Lip Balm and Petit Parfum came up on the sale page for the same price, I immediately placed an order and stashed it away in the cupboard, with two or three worthy recipients in mind...

And then Christmas came and went, and well, wouldn't you know it, I looked in the cupboard a couple of weeks ago, and there it was..still sitting there waiting to be wrapped and put under the tree..only now with MY name written all over it lol!

I couldn't have organised it better if I'd tried ♥ So now that this set is officially mine, I'll start with the hand cream. LOVE UR Hand Creams - all of them are light and non-greasy, but packed with so much moisturising goodness, your hands will be clapping with glee.

This travel-sized tube has already replaced what was in my handbag, and I now have the pleasure of healing my ageing paws with a marvelously enriching formula whenever I think of it throughout the day. Let's see there's Sweet Almond and Jojoba Oil, Aloe Vera, Chamomile and Avocado Oil, Vitamin A & E, PLUS the big bonus, a sunscreen....

I'll admit the skin on my hands was already nicely softened and smoothed thanks to a liberal dose of Equilibrium hand cream every night before bed, but since massaging in this silky white softener during the day, they're looking more like they did 5 years ago, and my cuticles are in once piece, and in tip-top flexible condition. 

I've just treated myself to some now, and resumed typing a minute later with all the goodness absorbed, and no slippery layer left behind. And my hands smell good enough to eat - can't recommend this or any other of the UR hand saviours highly enough. I can't see this particular flavour listed on the website any more, but still there's an abundance of fragrances in the range to choose from, all with the same amazing hydrating power, so you're bound to find one that suits ♥

Mmmm...my very first UR lip balm - oh boy, have I been missing out or what? First of all it's in the cutest little tin, with all the lip-loving, pout-perfecting, mouth-moisturising ingredients listed on the back - things like Beeswax, Shea Butter, Vitamin E (to name a few), and once again, a sunscreen ♥

The balm is firm but easily picked up on a pinky finger, and it slicks on without being even remotely sticky. Has the same mouth-watering Ginger Apple fragrance (will detail a bit later) but tastes like...hmm...can't pick anything recognisable other than a slightly nutty floral tinge, but it's delish and very subtle - I guess it's a mix of the wax, oils and butter, and yet it doesn't taste oily at all. 

I've been applying it straight after cleansing off my lipstick/gloss, and then again before bed, and my lips feel SO soft and nourished ♥

If you're still reading, now we get to the tantalising part - what do all these Ginger Apple goodies smell like? To my nose they have the scent of spicy baked apples, but with a tangy freshness that never fails to lure me in. Definitely a gourmands delight, which is interesting because I'm not necessarily into foodie fragrances. 

But I do love scents that have a spicy kick, and I reckon there's some cinnamon lurking somewhere in the mix - combined with the green apple zing and a smattering of lily blossoms, it's actually no wonder that I enjoy it so much. Like all UR Petit Parfums, the spray bottle is 100% purse-friendly, there's oil in the formula so it's non-drying on the skin, and it comes beautifully boxed for gift-giving. Lasts a good three hours on my pulse points too...

This particular combination Gift Set isn't available right now, but there's another on sale at the mo' which has the parfum and lip balm, and a vegetable soap instead of the hand cream, all in a cute little pack for $18.00.
