Hmm yes well, I'd planned to have these up in October along with the other two giveaways, but with one thing and another (including a bunch of beautyheaven reviews), I didn't get there. Then for one brief (and fleeting) moment, I thought maybe I should combine them with the October Empties, but as you can probably imagine, I couldn't fit them all on my bench, let alone in one camera shot lol! Lovely body wash with a deliciously crisp & refreshing lemon scent - love the simplicity of the packaging and that it's available at Coles. No SLS content, Aussie-made, not tested on animals, and it's vegan, but still not quite moisturising enough compared with the others in my rack. Boy am I getting fussy! ♥♥...

Lanolips Rose Hand Cream Intense (50ml, RRP $16.99)

This was gifted to me so long ago I can't remember the source, and even though I had broken the seal, it's been in a dark drawer so it was perfectly fine. Not quite as intense as I'd hoped, and I have others that give my hands a richer treatment, but that rose fragrance? Heavenly! Absorbs quickly and completely, and it was particularly effective on my shrivelled cuticles ♥♥♥...

So many micellars on the market and after doing a whole bunch of research when they first appeared over 5 years ago, this is the one that I'm sticking with, well for the time being anyway. It's highly effective, a great price and I LOVE the fragrance. It's not that it works any better than many others, but the scent is so appealing. Beats me why this hasn't appeared in my Regulars section before as I've bought many bottles, but it will next time ♥♥♥...

Nutrimetics Ultra Care+ Super-C & Retinol Serum  (20ml, RRP $70)

I haven't been all that impressed with the cheaper serums from this brand (mind you the Platinum one is sensational), and while this is still somewhat pricey, I bought it because they had a special deal of buy-one-get-one-free, so for $35, I was in! The serum itself is actually pretty darn fabulous, but the packaging sucks - a skinny little tube that I had trouble holding, and the product kinda squirts down the outside of the cap rather than onto the fingers. The serum is very thick, rich and viscous, and I would struggle to spread it onto my face in the cold weather, but apart from these issues, it made my skin look amazing - glowy, refined, plump, and a delicate floral fragrance, pretty much everything you want from a serum ♥♥♥...

Repurchase?

Absolutely, when it's on special, but not in the cooler months ♥♥♥...

Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Serum (30ml, RRP $59.99)

The jury is still out on this one. To be fair, this bottle wasn't used continuously as I was trialling the Skin Physics sculpting gel below and excluding all other products, so I'll reserve final judgement until I've had time to use another complete bottle without interruption. In the interim, I can say that it's a terrific serum that causes absolutely zero irritation, but I can't tell yet if it's any better for my age-related skin issues than others I've used. Adore the purple packaging, and I was surprised that I didn't mind the fact that it is fragrance-free (no fragrance is better than one that I dislike). Other advantages are that Olay products are regularly on special, so I'll never EVER have to pay full price for it, and it has maintained the pore refinement that I was seeing from my other retinol serums. Fortunately, I'm not dealing with dandruff or flaking scalp - I bought this many months ago on the recommendation of my stylist to remove excess colour safely from my hair if my home dye ends up too dark, and it's really quite effective. Even more so if I crush a Vitamin C tablet and mix it in with the liquid. It leaves my hair feeling like straw so I only do one application, leave it on for at least 5 minutes, rinse and then use my usual Goldwell Kerasilk one for application #2, and then it feels ok again. It sure takes out the dye quick-smart! ♥♥...

May 2020 Empties & Giveaway!...

Well, I think you can see from the picture what I've been working on the most during the last month of isolation lol - yes the old eye bags are starting to get the better of me so I've upped the frequency of the overnight eye patches to see if I can slow down the deterioration. They are helping quite a bit with the puffiness, and with the recent half-price sales of the Skin Republic range at Woolies & Coles, I think I can maintain the treatment for another month to see if a daily application is worth the expense. As for the rest of the May Empties, there are quite a few new discoveries in this bunch, although it's just my luck that some have been discontinued. All the same, here we go ...

Method Pink Grapefruit Naturally Derived Hand Wash - (354ml, RRP $5)

Fell in love with the colour and the scent of this hand wash - I SO have a thing about pink grapefruit, and this mix also includes blood orange and cassis. A truly lovely product that's gentle on the skin and looks so pretty on the vanity. Triclosan-free, biodegradable and not tested on animals, it has only one little flaw - the container becomes unstable once you get down to the last few centimetres ♥♥♥...

SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Body Wash - (384ml, RRP $10)

This came with one of my regular Shea Moisture orders - they had a deal at the checkout where I was able to select a free product, and this was what I went for. So glad I did because it's brilliant, and I've since ordered another. It's one of their Limited Editions, but one I hope will be available for a while. Super enriching, it's perfect for dry winter skin, and also contains African Rock Fig & Baobab Oil. Has a deliciously sweet honey-ish scent with a hint of fig, yum! ♥♥♥...

This partly used sample bottle has been on my bench for almost 3 years - embarrassing, and I didn't realise it had been that long until I looked it up on my blog to find out where it came from. It was the March 2017 edition of the Good Green Box, a subscription service that sadly is no more. Smells so incredibly DIVINE, I'm at a loss as to why I started using it and then stopped. But kudos to this brand as the product is just as delicious and stable, even after all this time, and leaves my skin feeling fabulously soothed, radiant and replenished. It's formulated especially for oily/combo skin - lightweight, and it absorbs magically. This is really something special ♥♥♥...

Bought this to try as I love the sheet masks in this range. Not so fussed on this - it was fine for the summer, but I didn't find it anywhere near moisturising enough for these cooler months. So pretty to look at though and it smells, hmmm, ok - it has little blue beads suspended in the gel, but I found they didn't always dissolve and stayed on my skin surface, which was a tad annoying. I think in general I'm not a fan of these new gel moisturisers - I don't like the sticky feeling they leave behind, I prefer the slip & slide of a standard formula ♥...

Love this - used it as a scrub as I also have the separate 1 Minute Mask in the same range. Green tea, black rice & kaolin clay - a great combo for my skin, gentle enough to use every day as the consistency is more like a polish, and I would except I get bored using the same thing too often. Leaves my face feeling soft and smooth, adore the clean fresh fragrance ♥♥♥...

Olay Regenerist Whip UV Cream SPF 30  (50g, RRP $48.99)

My new #1 day-cream - I've always loved the Regenerist range, and I'm thrilled that they've introduced this Whip version with SPF 30. Used this all throughout the summer without any greasies emerging during the day. The scent is so lovely - fresh & invigorating and a pleasure to experience every time. Kicking myself a bit as I bought this and the Luminous one during the same bargain sale, so I need to use up that one next, but it doesn't have the same scent although it's supposed to minimise pores. Either way, I'm pretty impressed with Olay, just wish their jars were recyclable ♥♥♥...

This came my way via the beautyheaven Natural Beauty Event late last year - gave it 5 gold stars, and having finished the jar, still feel it deserves each and every one of them. My first experience with an enzyme mask - interesting green jelly with an unusual but pleasant botanical fragrance, and even more interesting stinging sensation when applied, though not to the point of being uncomfortable. At last I've found a silvery grey hair colour that doesn't contain any yellow and doesn't fade to reveal golden highlights. It's been quite a struggle but I found this on the MyHairCare&Beauty website - one of those places that sell salon products. It costs twice as much as supermarket hair colour but when I want something really bad, I'll pay for it. This demi I used with 30 vol developer and it barely faded in 6 weeks - amazing! The only problem is it doesn't cover my white hair all that well so I'll be buying the permanent one next time ♥♥♥...

I have to stop buying foundation when it's on sale, and when I already have a stack to use up. This one was under $10 from the Australis website, and by the time I opened it and discovered how brilliant it was, there were none left because, again, it's been discontinued. The most amazing full coverage foundation stick that was a perfect skin tone match, didn't cake or crease, and it had SPF30. Why oh why did Australis stop making it? I even used a brush to poke down into the wind-up tube to get the last of it out. Sob! ♥♥♥...

I found this stuck down the back of one of my stash drawers - I think it's been there for a few years as I don't remember buying it, and the range has been discontinued. This is the problem when you have too many stash drawers! But I DO remember that I loved it, and considering it was unopened I decided to use it up. So glad I did because this is the perfect shade for me, and I love the formula - excellent coverage without looking gluggy or mask-like. Over the years I've been enamoured with just about any MNY foundation that has "Dream" in the name (and there's been quite a few) and this was no exception. Currently using their Dream Urban Cover foundation, so the love affair continues ♥♥♥...

This was on special from somewhere, but it's still available lol! Almost the same mousse formula/texture/finish as my fave DB Cosmetics one. Fills in the gigantic pores on my nose and an overall terrific mattifying primer. Creates a silky smooth base for foundation, and I apply it on the days I don't wear any makeup as it cuts the shine and makes my skin look better than it is ♥♥♥...

January 2020 Empties & Giveaway!...

While I'm perfectly happy with my Oral B Diamond White toothpaste, this was on special and I thought I'd give it a try. I must admit I was a little hesitant when I popped the seal and found the paste was striped grey and orange - a bit weird and I wondered how bright it would keep my choppers given the peculiar colour combination. Well, I needn't have worried as there was no reduction in whiteness, but no improvement either. I enjoyed the minty fresh taste ♥♥...

The 7ml sample size (from I forget where) was just enough to get me excited - a delicate citrussy-scented serum that was an absolute pleasure to use, and I was somewhat peeved when it came to an end. Contains Hyaluronic Acid as well and is supposed to help with pigmentation - didn't expect any reduction within such a small usage time, but my skin felt and looked fabulous, supremely hydrated, and my foundation finish was smooth and sleek  ♥♥...

I reckon I will - while I'm IN LOVE with the L'Occitane Reset serum, the price is somewhat daunting, and this would be a much more affordable option ♥♥...

Freezeframe Wrinkle Block Age Prevention Multi Stick (30ml, RRP $69)

The jury's still out on this one, but considering I'm on my third stick, that's a pretty good indication (question though, how come a solid stick gets measured in mls?). This was on special (40% off) and therefore irresistible to moi, the bargain hunter from way back, especially when it comes to trying new stuff. It's an odd little gem - a cream stick (not unlike a deodorant presentation) that you wind up as you use it. I've been swiping it over my forehead (special focus on my between-brows tramlines), crows feet, all around my mouth, and the base of my neck where it looks like what you'd see on a brush turkey. Applied to dry clean skin, the cream is kind of moisturising as you massage it in, and the blurb says no need for anything else, but I haven't found it anywhere near hydrating enough, so I added my day and night creams after waiting for 2 minutes, which is the recommendation on the box if you want to keep going with your usual routine. There's pretty much an instant smoothing of very fine lines, and it does seem to be cumulative, but I can't say for sure as I've been using it continuously. The deeper creases are taking longer to soften, but have definitely become more shallow, and the base of my neck isn't as horrendously wrinkled as it was. A substitute for botox? I think that's taking it a bit far, but my face does look quite a bit perkier, more refined, and definitely smoother and less lined. It's supposed to reduce eye bags by 76% in 7 days, but I've not noticed any change in my giant sacks. Still, I'm happy to not look so wrinkly elsewhere. There's a bonus when you get to the end - you can actually remove the little wheelie thing that the stick sits on, and scrape out enough leftovers for another 3 or 4 applications ♥♥...

If you like your face masks DRENCHED in serum, then this is the one for you. Literally dripping when you take it out of the foil pack, this is a major skin soaker and rehydrator, so if you're dealing with dryness, you'll be on cloud nine. Boasting ingredients like Vitamin C & B3 (Niacinamide), Allantoin & Hyaluronic Acid, this is the juiciest face mask I've ever tried, and it left my skin looking satin-smooth, and I didn't need anything else in my usual night-time routine to keep my skin soft and moisturised till the next morning. It has eyelid flaps, but I didn't use them as they were also dripping with serum and I didn't want to get any in my eyes ♥♥...

I mix this in with the colour below and it seems to help reduce the golden lights that always seem to be present whenever I use an ash dye - doesn't seem to matter what brand I choose, I don't ever get a cool ashy finish, weird huh? Anyways I keep a tube of this on the shelf along with the Violet Toner and it helps a lot to get the shade I'm after  ♥♥...

I raved about this brush HERE, but it seems to have a major flaw. The first one was sent to me in a PR pack, and it was BRILLIANT for about 3 months, and then started to shed really badly. I mean chunks of bristles mixed in with my foundation - eek! I thought it might be because I cleaned it several times in my rotating brush cleaner gadget, and figured I must have dunked it too deep, or else it was a production dud. So I bought another one, and only cleaned it with my makeup wipes, as I do with all my other brushes with zero negative effects, and...exactly the same thing happened after 3 months. Boo! So much for my glowing recommendation - sorry gals! I'm now using a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush with no problems whatsoever...

Dang! Discovered this True Nude in a clearance bin in Priceline and fell instantly in love with it. I went back a week later but they'd sold out. Great colour for me in summer, gave me a flawless and fresh finish, and I'm shattered that it's been discontinued - now only available on eBay ♥♥♥...

RapidLash Eyelash Enhancing Serum (3ml, RRP $69)

I stopped buying this about 6 months ago from my usual (bargain) online source because it had stopped working for me. My eyelashes were back to where they were 6 years ago when I first discovered this magical formulation - short, sparse and barely there. I couldn't figure out what the problem was as I was using it nightly as always, but then I started to entertain the possibility that what I was buying was either old stock, or fake. So I decided to give it another go, but this time buying from Priceline ($20 more), and I was right, one way or the other. The brush on the ones I had that weren't working was a different colour (I think it was pink, can't remember exactly but I do remember I compared them) whereas this new one is orange. And voila - 6 weeks later, I was back to having long, lush and full lashes. So let this be a lesson to us all - bargain prices can sometimes mean out of date stock, or a case of the shonkies. My original (2014) review is HERE, and it still stands, so long as I buy it from Priceline ♥♥♥...
