January 2021 Empties & Giveaway!...

Gee these Empties posts seem to come around fast - well actually it's every fourth post I upload here unless I can squeeze in an additional review now and then, and as you can see, I'm still maintaining the monthly turnover pace. The Regulars sections are increasing but there are some new products in the weeks to come so hang in there with me - and this month's Giveaway is four of my all-time fave beauty products, plus some pretty bling babies, so read on ...

Body

Method Gel Hand Wash Refill - Pink Grapefruit (1L, RRP $12.99)
My passion for Pink Grapefruit scented products knows no bounds, and while I always intend to eliminate all cleansers containing SLS from my shelves, I haven't been able to find a substitute for this so far - even the Body Shop one contains SLS, so this is it for now. Mind you I haven't had any issues with my hands - the other ingredients are naturally derived, I find it doesn't dry the skin or cause any irritation, and it smells divine. I don't use the cute-as Method bottle because it becomes unstable as the quantity reduces so I use the refill pack to load my preferred pump dispensers. Overall I LOVE the brand - this pack is terrific value, and I've actually replaced all my home cleaning products (including laundry) with their range ...
Repurchase?
Yes indeed ...

Urban Rituelle Hand & Body Lotion - Sea Kiss (60ml, RRP $14.95)
This was gifted to me by UR just over 12 months ago in a set of four - this was my absolute favourite. My full review is HERE ...
Repurchase?
Probably, and I'm only saying "probably" because they have so many other delicious hand and body lotions, it's SO hard to choose ...

White Glo Coffee and Tea Drinkers Formula Extra Strength WhiteningToothpaste (100ml, RRP $5.49)
Gradually working my way through all the different formulations from this brand. So far no one variety is any better at whitening than the other, but I'll keep going as they work well - all seem to have the same minty taste that I like, and the brush is the best I've ever used ...
Repurchase?
Yes ...

Regulars
Nutrimetics Nutri-Rich Shower Oil (200ml, RRP $42)
Reach Dentotape (20m, RRP $2.99)
Skin Physics Advance Superlift Caviar Age-Recovery Hand & Nail Renewal Cream SPF15 (75ml, RRP $39.99)

Face

A'kin Hydrating Coconut Water & Green Tea Micellar Water (500ml, RRP $17.95)
I bought a small (150ml) bottle of this three years ago for a whopping $14.95, so the pricing of this has dramatically changed for the better with this 500ml quantity now available for just a few dollars more. It's a 2nd cleanser that I use after the main wash - truly lovely, soothing and cooling, excellent slip, very pleasant "organic" fragrance which I can't pinpoint. It's up there with my faves ...
Repurchase?
Sure will - Aussie made, cruelty-free, recyclable packaging, no nasties ...

L'Oreal Sugar Scrubs Purifying Scrub with Kiwi Seed (50ml, RRP $19.95)
I bought this ages ago, and only recently found the part-used jar buried 3-deep on my bench. I'd forgotten all about it because I only use scrubs in the shower, and this is in a glass jar with a screw-top lid, which is a definite no-no! It smells delicious, works well, warms the skin while gently exfoliating, and looks positively mouth-watering - it's so pretty I reckon L'Oreal would have an absolute winner on their hands if they packaged it in a clear tube ...
Repurchase?
I have, but I'll transfer it into a squirty plastic travel bottle - just gotta find one with a big enough nozzle so the kiwi seeds don't get stuck ...

Hair

Hi Lift Creme Peroxide For Hair - 20 Vol (1000ml, RRP $7.50)
I find very little difference in this product from one brand to the next, so I just go with whatever is a good deal at the time. The 20 vol strength is what I mix with the hair colours below to cover my white roots ...
Repurchase?
Absolutely ...

Regulars
Goldwell Kerasilk Control Conditioner (250ml, RRP $34.95)
Hi Lift True Colour Hair Colour Creme - Extra Light Intense Ash Blonde (100ml, RRP $7.50)
Wella Koleston Perfect Permanent Creme Colour - Special Mix Clear, Blue Intensive & Ash Intensive (60g, RRP $19.97)

Makeup

Rimmel Lasting Finish Skin Perfecting Full Coverage Foundation - Soft Beige (30ml, RRP $17.95)
Great foundation - perfect coverage, great finish though a little pale for me in summer, and I guess you could call this my COVID base as I opened the bottle in March last year. It lasts well all day long and doesn't transfer. I squirt a little onto the back of my hand and then pick up small dabs on my fluffy foundation brush ...
Repurchase?
Probably not, but it's a good standby if I can't get hold of my fave Revlon stick ...

Regulars
Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim Eyebrow Pencil - Blonde (RRP $15.95)
Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner (RRP $15.95)
ModelsPrefer Infinite Colour Eye Pencil - Blue Lagoon ($12.99)

    REVIEW: Lanvin Eclat D'Arpège EDP...

I was going through my fragrance collection the other day, and a thought struck me - what if there was some sort of crises which meant that I could only keep one bottle of perfume? Perish the thought, but hey, we weren't expecting COVID. So which one would I choose? Well lovelies, it wasn't that hard at all - faced with the prospect of the same perfume every day for an unknown length of time, I immediately grabbed a darling that's been on my shelf and behind my ears for almost 20 years - Lanvin Eclat D'Arpège ...

And given I've just finished a bottle and happened to have another pristine one stashed away, it was the perfect opportunity to photograph this beauty and give her a moment in the spotlight because she's so worth it, and so very close to my heart. Incidentally, a 100ml bottle usually lasts me around two years - I reckon this is number 12 as I've had a few 50ml ones gifted to me and they're usually done and dusted in 12 months. Which makes it the perfume I've bought more often than any other - I start spritzing on or around the first day of spring, and don't put it away till early April ...

Released in 2002, I first discovered her in 2003 when sampling for a friend's birthday gift. The friend absolutely loved it, and the scent stayed in my head and my heart for weeks - I swear I could still remember how beautiful it was so I picked up one for me as soon as I could afford it. It's nothing like the original Arpège, which I don't like, even though it was my grandmother's signature scent. Perfect for her but not for me. The bottle has the same gold mother & child symbol on the flacon, but that's where the similarity ends. This Eclat version is young, fresh and summery, and out of all the perfumes I've ever worn, it's the one that has generated the most compliments. And as I've said in previous Empties posts, I have never EVER smelled it on anyone else. So it's all mine lol ...

Lanvin Eclat D'Arpège is a magical blend of lilacs and lemons, wisteria and peach blossom, peonies and green tea, white cedar, musk and amber. There's not one part of it that I don't absolutely adore, from the crisp fruity floral opening to the soft musky dry down that's still hanging there five hours later. I categorise this scent as a crystalline - same group as Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline and Versace Bright Crystal. It stays very close to my skin so it's not at all intrusive, it's just there like a gentle fragrant breeze all through the day. Perfect for the office, the scent is elegant, timeless, almost angelic, and as you can see, the most exquisite lilac shade. The cap has a faceted jewel mounted on the top and there are two gold rings that rotate around the base, supposedly representing the marriage between the two versions ...

RRP of the 100ml is $140, but I've never paid more than $65 as it's regularly on special, either at Chemist Warehouse or Feeling Sexy (currently $55.75!). This is a classic fragrance - no vanilla and no caramel, it will lift your spirits up into the clouds. It's so, so beautiful, and a perfume that will always be in my collection ...

Take care of you, and keep safe,

SPOTLIGHT: March Empties 2018 + Giveaway!...

Well, I guess no-one can say that I never finish products! Not a bad effort for March and this post is late yet again because of the time it takes to put it all together, but I sure do get a wonderful sense of achievement when I hit "Publish", and my recycle bin gets a good feed haha. Oh and there's a special treat with the giveaway this time around, so off we go lovelies ...

    Body

Cutex Nourishing Nail Polish Remover (100ml, RRP $4.99)
This was my polish remover of choice (for my toes), but as of a couple of months ago, I stopped painting my own toenails, and now I have them shellacked at a salon - holey guacemoley, what rock have I been living under?...
    Repurchase?
Not anymore, but it was the best and most effective for standard gel nail polish...

Cutex Acetone Free Nail Polish Remover (100ml, RRP $4.99)
So much kinder to my nails than regular remover, but takes a bit more soaking and rubbing...
    Repurchase?
Even though I'm now having my toenails painted at a salon, I still need this for removing sticky marks that come off my shoes and dull the shellac, and it doesn't damage the glossy finish, so yes, bought some today in fact ...

Natura Siberica Oblepikha Shower Gel (400ml, RRP $12.99)
I wasn't a fan of this shower gel when it first came out - there was a sharpness to the fragrance that didn't appeal initially, but things change, well...I changed, and now I love it! Being tall and slim it takes up minimal space in my caddy, the turquoise bottle is a standout amongst the others, it contains lots of interesting Siberian herbs, no SLS, and it doesn't dry out my skin. Hoping that one day I'll be able to pronounce it lol...
    Repurchase?
    Definitely! ...

    Nutrimetics Nutri-Rich Shower Oil (200ml, RRP $38)
This creates such a beautiful shower experience, I wish it wasn't so expensive. But just about everything from this brand eventually goes on sale, and surprise surprise, the replacement for this bottle was a freebie with my last order - score! A very interesting product - yes it's an oil, but when mixed with water it foams into a light and creamy cleanser that moisturises the skin without leaving it feeling greasy, or making the shower floor slippery. The apricot fragrance is to die for, and I don't need to apply any body lotions or potions afterwards. Very softening, very hydrating, very nice...
    Repurchase?
    Undoubtedly ...

Nutrimetics Ultra Care Platinum Hand Therapy (75ml, RRP $42)
Well, it's called Hand Therapy, and that just about sums it up. Superb hand cream with a soft baby powder scent that smooths and hydrates the most withered skin. I didn't notice any reduction in my brown spots, but I'd say a few tubes would be needed for that. Love the glam silver (platinum) packaging. It's as good as the L'Occitane Shea Butter one, and absorbs COMPLETELY!...
    Repurchase?
That'll be a yes, as soon as it's on special ...

Original Source Limited Edition Hibiscus & Pomegranate Tea Shower Gel (250ml, RRP $3.99)
Fell for the scent of this bargain shower gel quite a while ago, and being a Limited Edition, I stocked up. Crisp and refreshing, this is a beaut all-year-round body wash that lathers well and the delicate fruity-floral fragrance is 100% natural. Contains SLS, but unlike numerous other products with this tricky ingredient, it doesn't dry or irritate my skin ...
    Repurchase?
Would if I could but I think it's only available on eBay now - fortunately I still have several bottles stashed away in the cupboard ...

    Face

BioEffect Day Serum (5ml sample, 30ml, RRP $195)
Crikey, from memory this sample came in an Adore Beauty order, but I nearly fainted when I looked it up and found out that a 30ml bottle costs $195!!!! It's an interesting formulation - the clear gel is amazingly smooth and a tiny amount spreads in a flash. It feels almost like silicone, but boy does it hydrate! No scent that I can detect and some of the online reviews are from gals that swear by it. Honestly, I didn't notice any change or improvement in the short period of time I was using it, but I may have been a bit more observant and frugal with the dispensing if I'd known how much it costs lol...
    Repurchase?
Umm, I doubt it - lovely serum, but for that price, I need it to work an overnight miracle!...

L'Oreal Pure Clay Detoxifying Gel Wash (150ml, RRP $14.95)
Definitely one of my favourite cleansers. My passion for anything clay or charcoal is well documented, and this contains both, so it was bound to be a winner. Love the fresh fragrance, and while it's blackish in the tube, it becomes lighter grey when mixed with water and even foams up. It's one of those rare cleansers that removes every molecule of makeup from my face, and the rinse water doesn't leave a ring around my basin, which makes it a winner...
    Repurchase?
I already have several of these stashed away (bought on special!) ...

L'Oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Advanced Regenerating Serum (30ml, RRP $49.95)
Trialled this for beautyheaven in March and gave it 5 stars - my review is towards the bottom of the page HERE. It's even better than the original formula, and I so looked forward to my beauty routines, both for the feel of it on my skin, and the revitalising lemony scent. Perfect overnight serum hydration-wise, and a beaut base for makeup too as it absorbs very quickly, and the pearly liquid contains tiny gold particles that give a slightly shimmery radiance to the complexion...
    Repurchase?
No less than 6 serums on my bench, but as soon as they reduce to 3, I'll definitely be picking up another of these gems ...

Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub (125ml, RRP $12.95)
My rave review of this is HERE...
    Repurchase?
    You betcha! ...

    Face Masks

BLAQ Charcoal Hydrogel Eye Mask (pack of 5, RRP $29.99)
My latest under-eye-depuffing love (pictured below underneath the brown face mask) - these are slippery little suckers, so you can't really walk around with them on as gravity and the slightest movement makes them slide down, but they work a treat AND they contain charcoal. They work out to be $6 a pop, but who cares. LOVE!...
    Repurchase?
    Affirmative ♥♥...

Purederm Black Food Recipe MG:Gel Mask (RRP $3)
Exceptionally hydrating, and even (temporarily) firmed my jawline. Contains 17 black foods - whoa! - including black rice, black bean and blackcurrant. The blurb says that if you store it in the fridge, even more moisture will be released when you slap it on, so for me that little extra tip is a hot weather only one. Anyways for $3 from Kmart, it's a bargain and well worth trying to find it in amongst the gazillion masks they have for sale these days...
    Repurchase?
Sure will - I have at least 30 sheet masks in stock to use up (gaahhhhh!), but I'll definitely be buying this one again ...

South Mane Lip Gel (Pack of 3, RRP US$9)
Also pictured above partially covered by the face mask, this pack of 3 came in a Lip Monthly box. They're huge and cover the entire lip area and surrounds, but are also very slippery so you need to lie down and not move your mouth at all. Nicely softening, but very little moisturising beyond the 10 minutes of wear...
    Repurchase?
They seem to be only available from the US website, so I'll stick with the LonVitalite ones...

Skin Republic Bubble Purifying + Charcoal Face Mask (RRP $7.99)
Already raved about this one numerous times ...
    Repurchase?
    Absolutely! ...

    Fragrance

    Lanvin Eclat d’Arpège EDP (100ml, $140)
Just can't live without this beautiful fragrance in Spring & Summer - been buying it for years, and always ALWAYS receive compliments. Covered it succinctly in a previous empties post in 2016 (HERE) and nothing has changed - this stunner will forever be part of my life. BTW it is regularly on special at various outlets/websites, and I've never paid more than $65 for it...
    Repurchase?
I make sure I have a spare even before I open a new bottle ...

Glasshouse Fragrances Beverly Hills Pink Lemonade Reed Diffuser (250ml, $42.95)
A full review of this beautiful baby HERE - it's so summery and fresh and fun! ...
    Repurchase?
Affirmative, but not till next warm season ...

    Hair

Schwarzkopf Live Colour Silver Toner (RRP $5.49)
I think this may work best if you have bleached blonde hair - it toned down the yellow in mine, but overall my colour was too dark for this to have anything other than a neutralising effect. Leaves the hair nicely conditioned and glossy though...
    Repurchase?
No - the one below is what works for me...

Schwarzkopf Live Colour Pastels Cool Grey (RRP $5.49)
Now, this is the go - it actually adds colour, a lovely soft grey (not purplish or bluish). It may sound odd that I wanted to put grey in my hair, but it's true - my ultimate goal is ash blonde with silver streaks. I've decided to go with the flow a bit more, and change my colour to something that blends a whole lot better with my white roots, which are killers to cover up every 2 weeks. This cheap-as-chips semi-permanent has already helped get me closer to where I want my tresses to be without any more damage, and I will continue to use it every month or so (in addition to the Schwarzkopf Colour Specialist) to keep the yellows at bay...
    Repurchase?
It was recently on special at one of the supermarkets, so I bought 8 (yes 8!) boxes ...

    Makeup

Maybelline COLORdrama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil - In With Coral (RRP $9.95)
The perfect coral colour for my skin tone and I also use it as a liner for some of my other lipsticks - lovingly reviewed the range HERE...
    Repurchase?
    Can't live without it ...

    • Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub

      SPOTLIGHT: June Empties!...

Very late with my Empties post for last month, but as you can see it's a bumper issue. Includes items that last for absolutely yonks, most of which are kats-can't-live-withouts, and only one that I wouldn't repurchase. Come to think of it I may have to rename this series Monthly Faves! ...

Crop Natural Concealer Pencil ( RRP $16)
LOVE this little stick of wonders - I use it primarily for reverse outlining my lips, and throughout the day to counteract lipstick bleed. It's made a massive difference to the quality of my LOTD pics because it's dense enough to cover the freckles that abound around (what used to be) my lipline. It's creamy and blends immaculately, and I also use it to help disguise my huge under eye bags. Doesn't crease and after 3 months, there's still almost an inch of the pencil left, but it's too small to sharpen ♥...
      Repurchase?
I have three backups in my drawer - Coles regularly has it on special, which is when I stock up ...

Dermalogica AGE Smart Skinperfect Primer (22ml RRP $72.50)
Until recently, this was my numero uno primer, and with an SPF30 content, my go-to skin protector. I've found something even more potent now (IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF50), but this beauty ticks all the boxes as far as mattifying and preparing my complexion for makeup is concerned. A darling friend sent me a tube years ago, and I've been in love with it ever since. This magical product has earned five stars on beautyheaven, and it's no wonder - on good face days, this is all I need to minimize pores and refine my complexion to a point where I can almost get away with no foundation (it has a slight tint). Well almost ...
      Repurchase?
For hot humid Summer days, absolutely ...

      Lanvin Eclat d’Arpège EDP (30ml RRP $81.50)
In the last 2 years I've considerably expanded my perfume collection, but prior to the blow out, this was my signature Summer scent - raved about it back in 2013, and it's still very close to the top of my list of all time favourite fragrances. Fresh and light, the combination of lilacs and lemons is simply beautiful, elegant and timeless. I usually only wear it in the warmer weather, but there was only a few spritzes left, so I finished up the bottle instead of putting it away for the Winter. Still have never EVER smelt it on any other gal ...
      Repurchase?
I scored the 100ml bottle for $49.99 (woo hoo!) from Chemist Warehouse in April, so I'm set for Spring ...

      Oral-B 3D White LUXE Toothpaste - Glamorous White (95g RRP $8.99)
My new choice for keeping my choppers in tip top condition. The minty taste is a nice change from my usual Colgate Optic White - it costs $1 more, but well worth it for the crisp freshness it brings to my mouth. Too early to tell if it works any better in the whitening department (my teeth are naturally creamy-coloured), but it's sure keeping the stains and cavities away ...
      Repurchase?
Several tubes already stashed away in the bathroom cupboard, bought on special of course ...

True Essentials Micellar Water (125ml RRP $4)
Already covered in my Micellar Magic series, it's not the best of the bunch I've experienced so far, but excellent for what it is, and the price ...
      Repurchase?
Yes - as mentioned in my review, it's worth it for the refillable travel size bottle alone ...

Reference of Sweden Repair Treatment Mask REF.550 (250ml RRP $38)
Check out my review HERE. This is a can't-live-without ♥...
      Repurchase?
I don't muck around when it comes to what works for me - have already bought the 750ml bottle ...

Imperial Leather Madagascan Vanilla & Cacao Anti-bacterial Handwash (250ml RRP $3.99)
Totally bummed that I can't find this any more, but I'm hanging onto the empty bottle in case I spot the refill somewhere. Another gem that gets five beautyheaven stars. The fragrance is stunning, and washing my hands with this moisturising cream is the first thing I do when I arrive home ...
      Repurchase?
I wish. Come on Coles, bring it back! ...

Clearasil Daily Clear Vitamins & Extracts Daily Wash (150ml RRP $10.49)
My second favourite cleanser - been using this for years, and look forward to every session. The avocado and pomegranate scent combo blisses me out, and I especially love the fact that I can leave its pale green creaminess on my face for a few minutes as a mask, and have instantly becalmed and refined skin ...
      Repurchase?
      Never without this ...

Nude by Nature Nude Face Scrub (150ml RRP $17.95)
Featured this in my December Empties post last year, but I'm including it again because it's simply the BEST! Pricey but unsurpassed. Review HERE ...
      Repurchase?
      Can't live without it ...

Reference of Sweden REF.050 Shine Spray (200ml RRP $34)
In all my years I've not come across anything else like this for giving my hair instant shine and gleam without any build up of goop. You spray it on like hairspray, and I swear anyone around you will need sunnies to counteract the glare. Review HERE ...
      Repurchase?
Can't live without this either ...

The Body Collection Mimosa & Lily Hand & Body Wash (200ml RRP $16.99)
This was in my birthday bag from Mama last year, bless her . Beautiful fragrance, floral with a tinge of sour. Australian made, no SLS, parabens or animal derived products, but not enough moisturising power for me to add it to my list of must-haves...
      Repurchase?
Probably not - there are so many other body washes that I adore, and I didn't love this one quite enough to seek out a stockist (independent chemists I believe)...

Imperial Leather Pomegranate & Wild Rose Triple Moisturising Bodywash - Flirtatious (500ml RRP $6.49)
Another one I'm crazy about - Imperial Leather products appear in just about every one of my Empties posts, so you could say I'm a bit of a fan lol! Having trouble finding this too, although I spotted it in Priceline a few months back so will try my luck next weekend. Raved about it almost two years ago HERE ...
