SPOTLIGHT: Favourite May & June 2020 LOTD's...

If you follow my Instagram account, you would have noticed that instead of the regular five-days-a-week appearances, my LOTD uploads are somewhat sporadic and erratic. Due to COVID, I'm only heading into the office every second week, and while I'm still wearing makeup just about every day, I'm saving my dress-ups (and consequently my LOTD pics) for those days when I go to the workplace. Consequently, I've not had many lip love photos to choose from, but below are what I put together from the May & June limited assortment...

What's been interesting is that my lipstick application skills soon deteriorate if I don't keep up the practice, so some of these are a bit lopsided - anyways the colours and textures are what count, right?

1. Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lip - DM. A regular, I trot this out when I'm wearing golden browns from my wardrobe. In July last year, I said it was too drying and was going to toss it, but in the end, I couldn't bear to do it as I've nothing else quite like it, and I solved the problem by applying a thin layer of balm underneath ♥...

2. NYX SlipTease Lip Lacquer - Shady. You'll see these fairly often as they are totally fabulous - full review of the majority of the shades is HERE. Still can't believe I picked these up for $7 each from Priceline ♥...

3. Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm - Coy. I've had this for ages and I'm bamboozled as to why I've never worn it. Lost in a sea of lip products, I'm delighted I singled it out. It's gorgeous - creamy, moist, wears pretty well, super convenient being in crayon form, and I just adore the colour ♥...

4. Antipodes - South Pacific Coral. Received this in a surprise gift from the brand, and I wear it fairly regularly. It's actually a lot brighter in the tube but I'm experimenting with different lip liners underneath to see if I can get it to really pop. Fabulous formula, sooooo comfortable ♥...

5. Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom - Rose Rush. Seems to be only available on eBay now - such an unusual and pretty orangey-pinky-red. I'll keep wearing it though in the hope that MNY changes their mind and brings it back - LOVE IT! ♥...

6. Seraphine Botanicals Vegan Berry Tint - Cherry Cream.  Three years old and still going strong. Supremely comfortable with brilliant coverage and wears well. Although it does get a little dry after a few hours, reapplication is smooth and makes it all creamy again ♥...

7. Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink - Pioneer. How about that red hey? These liquid lippies are astonishingly good - methinks I need a few more in my kit. Their lasting power is amazing, and the comfort-factor is way up there ♥...

8. Avon Mark Lipstick - Berry Cute.  Love the name, the colour, the formula - I think this is appearance #4 in my faves posts, will definitely be a fifth ♥...

9. IBY Beauty High Intensity Lipstick - Mardi Gras. I keep this for the shade - it has a very high blue content which makes it just the right colour for several outfits. It's a little drier than other formulas, but my obsession with matching is stronger than my desire for comfort lol ♥...

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite November 2019 LOTD's...

Sneaking in a second LOTD post - I don't want to start the year on the back foot! A couple of new ones in this batch and some old faithfuls that never let me down. And of course, the return of the reds (yay!) that took a breather in October ♥...

1. Color by TBN - Caramello Queen. Only discovered this brand in June at Price Attack - loved what I bought so I went back and rifled through the bowl for more colours, which I couldn't swatch, but for the price ($4.95) I didn't give a hoot. Total bargain - smooth, creamy, moist, and I'm a goner for this soft brown ♥...

2. Covergirl Colourlicious - Ravish Raspberry. Had this a long time - slightly more pink than my-lips-but-better, super comfortable and wears well. I reckon Covergirl lipsticks are underrated in the lipstick world ♥...

3. Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance 50th Anniversary - Coral Silk. Isn't this just the softest, prettiest coral? Nutrimetics lipsticks are up near the top of my list of faves for comfort & value (when they're on special), and their colours are just that bit different to what else is out there. Sadly this is a limited edition, full review HERE ♥...

4. NYX Liquid Suede - Life's a Beach. Hard to go past this baby when I want a pinky coral. Not as hydrating as I'd like, but I adore the colour so much, it's a keeper ♥...

5. Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance - Russett. Oh, why don't I wear this more often? Such an unusual orange, kinda burnt, and lots of red content - it's very autumnal but looks amazing with navy, black and grey, so that makes it an all-year-rounder for moi ♥...

6. Maybelline Colorsensational Matte - Craving Coral. This little darling is almost luminous! No way is it coral, more like scarlet, and as sassy as that gal in Gone With the Wind. Comfier than I expected from a matte - yep MNY has my heart ♥...

7. NYC - Retro Red. Another one I plucked out during the cull - ain't letting go of this one in a hurry though, that extra bit of glossy sheen gets me every time ♥...

8. Maybelline Colorsensational Made For All - Red For Me. You KNOW I love this range - probably has two more micro-millilitres of blue (or green, not sure) in it than the previous one, but it's easy to tell them apart IRL. LOVE! ♥...

9. Covergirl Katy Kat Matte - Crimson Cat. I swear every single one of my red lippies is different lol! Love this one as it's verging on tomato, and sometimes I need this EXACT slightly softer red shade to match my outfit ♥...

10. Jane Iredale Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist - Ella. Another one I forgot about after Winter - kicking myself though as it's a stunner. One of the best formulas around, and looks sensational with pastels like beige, pink & cream ♥... 

11. Color by TBN - Made in Magenta. Yes, one more find from the Price Attack fish bowl - super pretty. I have quite a few magentas in my kit, and each one has unique shade qualities. Love the way this one almost glows ♥...

12. IBY Beauty High Intensity - Mardi Gras. Not as hydrating as some, but with a toe in purple-land that gives it some extra punch, I've moved this to the front of the box - summer is the time for whoa pinks! ♥...

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite August 2018 LOTD's...

Another round of LOTD's, and a pretty good spread of hues and finishes. I always use a matching lip liner wherever possible as my lips are freckled and it helps with the coverage. There are 120+ liners in my collection, but STILL, there are times when I can't find a perfect match - in that case, I choose one that's as close as possible, but lighter so there's no harsh line around the outside. I also reverse outline my lips with a concealer crayon (usually NYX Wonder Pencil in Light), which is how I get a crisp outline for the piccies, and that combined with a cotton bud is what I use for my cleanups ♥...

I've been pretty good of late, tossing out anything from the box that smells even vaguely stale, applies streakily, or isn't sufficiently comfortable to warrant keeping - so hard to let go though lol!...

1. How pretty is this Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick in Romance Mauve - it's one of the few nudey pinks that I can wear and feel comfortable wearing - normally pale + me don't go together, but I'm prepared to make an exception with this beauty ♥...

2. And if you're after a mushroomy taupe kind of shade, I can highly recommend this Australis Colour Inject Moisturising Mineral Lipstick in Miss Manhattan - lovely creamy formula, soft and elegant colour ♥...

3. With a name like Russet, I was expecting this Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance Lipstick to have more red content, but I'm not complaining at all - actually I adore this gorgeous orange and the fact that the formula is so lip-loving and doesn't go on all streaky ♥...

4. Not much difference between the previous one and this Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance Lipstick in Pecan - another delightful orange, but with a tad more yellow (which I'm always looking for) so very happy with this ♥...

5. Ahh, my beloved Bourjois! This Brownette from the Rouge Velvet Lipstick range - SO hard to find a brown that doesn't have heaps of red in it, so this is a firm fave, and the formula is a winner ♥...

6. Good old W7 Liptember Lipsticks - this is Devils Darling and rivals so many of my super expensive (by comparison) reds. I have quite a few of this particular one but buy a new one (and several of the other shades) every year anyway 'cos it's such a good cause, and for $4.95, what does it matter to have doubles or triples ♥...

7. One of the best red glosses around, this is Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer in the shade Classic. One of my newest additions, and so glad I indulged because it's just so darn fabulous. I'll quite possibly be buying more from this range ha ha ♥...

8. Another of my recent bargain buys from the Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance collection - Chestnut. Such a divine colour for Autumn/Winter, so warm and rich and toasty ♥...

9. This is one of those rare mattes that doesn't shrivel my lips into sun-dried raisins - Maybelline Colorsensational Matte - Divine Wine ♥...

10. You'll be seeing this one over and over again - it's my favourite from the Bourjois Rouge Edition range - Violine Strass.  This is everything I want in a lipstick ♥...

11. Another regular on these pages, NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Spice Cake. Very VERY similar colour to the previous one (you can probably guess this is one of my favourite shades) but a wee bit more blue content, and of course, pure gloss. Pure bliss ♥...

12. This one is from a LipMonthly bag, IBY Beauty High Intensity Lipstick in Mardi Gras. Same colour family but lighter and brighter, nice formula ♥...

13. Another W7 Liptember beauty - Neon Purple. Can't believe these moist and creamy lipsticks are under $5 ♥...

14. I look at this NYX High Voltage Lipstick (Twisted) and wonder who on earth would discontinue this stunner?!? ♥...

15. Lucky last is L'Oreal Color Rich Balmain Lipstick in Freedom. It's only here because of the magical colour. The lipstick itself was such a disappointment - streaky and very drying. I'm not buying any more of these ♥...
