March 2021 Empties & Giveaway!...

Before I get started on the March Empties, I thought to let you know that my work life is still impacting my personal world in a major way - I was kinda hoping that after 31st March the pressure would ease a little, but I'm still waiting for that to happen lol! It's a bummer as I have lots to share with you as well as on Instagram, but after long and stressful days, I have very little time or energy left to put it all together. But I know how much you enjoy the Empties and I'm up to my neck in throwaway containers (!), so instead of colouring my hair (whoops), here we go...

Body

Glow Lab Blackberry & Bay Body Wash (400ml, RRP $9)
I do so enjoy these Glow Lab body washes. When I first bought this one I tagged the scent as winter appropriate but it was so enticing I couldn't wait, so I washed my bod with it over the summer. It's crisp and spicy rather than fruity, although it has heaps of citrus essential oils, and they're balanced with floral & herbal extracts. Quite distinctive and one I'll continue to enjoy in the cold weather, but I'll add a few extra drops of shower oil to boost the moisture content ...
Repurchase?
Yes indeed ...

White Glo Professional Choice Extra Strength Whitening Toothpaste
 (100ml, RRP $5.99)
Ever so slightly different taste to the others, but the same level of whitening power on my old choppers. It's good to know it doesn't matter which one from the range I buy - they're all as good as each other ...
Repurchase?
For sure ...

Regulars

Colgate Plax Alcohol Free Gentle Mint Mouth Wash (500ml, RRP $6.49)
Reach Dentotape (20m, RRP $2.99)
Schmidt's Charcoal + Magnesium Mineral Enriched Natural Deodorant (75g/92g, RRP $13.99/$19.95)
Swisspers Makeup Pads (Pack of 80, RRP $3.99)
White Glo Toothbrush (free with the above toothpaste)

Face

Breeze Balm Lip Balm - Birthday Bash (15g, RRP $19.95)

I'm crazy about these balms - far superior to anything else that's crossed my lips over the years. Not so keen on this "flavour" though - supposed to be pink lemonade, but it just smells super sweet to me. Same fabulously enriching formula though, and the good news is they've made the hole slightly bigger so it's an easier squeeze in the cold weather ...
Repurchase?
Not this one, but I'm hooked on the watermelon & pineapple variety ...

Regulars

Neutrogena Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes (Pack of 25, RRP $7.99)
Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash (175ml, RRP $14.99)
Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence (40ml, RRP $39.99)
Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Serum (30ml, RRP $59.99)
Skin Physics Dragon's Blood Facial Sculpting Gel (50ml, RRP $59.99)

Fragrance

Vera Wang Lovestruck EDP (100ml, $89)
Well now, this fragrance is proof that if you keep your perfumes in a cool dark space, they last a long time. Bought this in 2015 and it was almost perfect until the last half dozen spritzes. I reviewed it at the time and I still feel the same way about it, click the name above to go there direct ...
Repurchase?
Tempting, but there are so many others I want to try ...

Hair

Regulars

Goldwell Kerasilk Control Conditioner (250ml, RRP $34.95)
Goldwell Kerasilk Control Intensive Smoothing Mask (200ml, RRP $42.95)

Makeup

Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil - Grey (RRP $45)

I bought this in a fit of desperation during a relatively fruitless search for a grey eyebrow pencil (to match my hair) - in hindsight the price was ridiculous. Yeah, sure it was good quality, but too dark and stark for what I'm after, which is a  light to medium grey that I can build up ...
Repurchase?
Not unless I'm totally desperate again ...

ModelsPrefer Contour/Collection - Ultimate Higlighting + Contouring Palette ($16.99)
My local Priceline has stopped stocking this, but it seems to still be available online - thank goodness as it's the best colour scheme for my complexion (which means not orange!). Mind you I only use four of the six pans, but by mixing them together I can create a blend that suits me to a tee and doesn't look weird. Great price too. Powders are fine for my cheeks and jawline, but they seem to exaggerate the craterous pores on my nose, but I can smudge the cream ones so they're effective but not obvious. So hard to find cream contour kits! ...
Repurchase?
Definitely, online ...

Revlon Colorstay Life-Proof Matte Foundation Stick - 180 Sand Beige (RRP $25.95)
Ahh, Revlon - you were one of my first loves, and you're still delivering the goodies. My current numero uno foundation. This is the one I wear to the office or for special occasions. PERFECT colour match to my skin, blends to a perfect finish, lasts ALL DAY, doesn't transfer, SPF 27, slight sheen finish - it doesn't get much better than this ...

Forever ...

Regulars

Australis HD Translucent Loose Setting Powder (RRP $16.95)
Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim Eyebrow Pencil - Blonde (RRP $15.95)
Maybelline Master Precise Allday Liquid Liner (RRP $15.95)
Maybelline Volume Express The Falsies Mascara (RRP $19.95)
Natio Define Eye Pencil - Charcoal (RRP $14.95)

Giveaway!!!

Totally bummed that I didn't get to do a special Mother's Day gift in time, but hey, it's only May so I'll no doubt make up for it. For now, here's what's in the bundle...

  • Makeup Revolution freebie comprising:
    • Revolution Pro 4K Bronzer Palette - Warm
    • Unicorns Heart Rainbow Highlighter
    • 5 Eye Shadow Palette - Raspberry Icing
    • Intensely Pigmented Foil Shadow Palette
    • The Liner Revolution Waterproof Smudgeproof Eyeliner - Intense Black
    • Semi-Permanent Brow Tint - Taupe
  • Lovisa Rose Gold Tone Silk Square Earring and Necklace Set,  & Diamante Crossover Ring - Size M/L
The makeup was a Gift With Purchase - I thought it was so awesome I placed another order so I could get a set for this giveaway. Here's a pic of a couple of the items I opened from my pack:

    SPOTLIGHT: Favourite September 2019 LOTD's...

Yay for Spring! A distinct lack of deep plums and berries in this collection, but that's to be expected as I slowly shift to the warmer weather wardrobe Every year the October long weekend is my signal, and every year, the week after I pack away the woollies, it gets cold again lol! Usually just for a week or so, but what's the point of patterns if you don't learn something, so this time I was smart and kept a few outfits aside just in case, and I actually didn't box my boots till today. It's still a bit too chilly in the mornings for strappy sandals, but I've dusted off the between-season shoes, the fake tan bottle is on the bench, and I've rearranged the wardrobe so I'm ready for the >25 degree days ahead -  bring it on! ...

    Favourite September 2019 LOTD's collage

Only one red last month - I've been wearing more pastel shades so far, but I've no doubt it'll make a comeback once I get into the summery brights that are starting to wave at me from the closet ...

    Brown LOTD's

    1. Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl - Gold Goddess. This isn't a true representation of the actual lipstick - it's a gold slightly metallic shade, quite pale and sheer, but because I rarely want to look like I've just stepped out of a Bond movie (lol), I apply it over the top of something else, usually a brown that isn't golden enough to match my outfit, and it does the trick ...
    2. Bourjois Rouge Velvet - Brownette.  One of my fave brown lippies, this one seems to go with any of the earthy shades in my wardrobe. The formula is super comfortable, and I usually only reapply after eating ...
    3. Australis Metallic Velour Lips Matte Lip Cream - Bang Kok. Another one from my Australis $3 sale splurge. Simply adore the colour, but I'm not a fan of the drying effect it has on my lips so I carry around a toning gloss which I apply just to the inner part of my lips to stop them sticking together ...

    Nude & Orange LOTD's

    4. Covergirl Katy Kat Matte - Catoure. Have had this one a while, and I have a spare just in case it's discontinued, although I can still see it on the Priceline website. LOVE this shade, the feel and the finish. It's a demi-matte which is the only kind I can wear comfortably ...
    5. Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer - Sunstone. In theory, this should be EOL as I bought it in...2015! I know because I reviewed some of the range HERE, and there are still some colours available, sadly not this one. What a brilliant formula though - to last this long with no change in taste, smell, texture or colour. Still awesomely hydrating, and the gloss just keeps on keeping on! ...
    6. Innoxa Summer Matte - Tangerine. My lipstick cull has slowed lately as I keep finding ancient lippies (like this one) that are still perfectly viable. And this being such a juicy and vibrant orange, I simply can't toss it yet, although I bought it in 2014! Holey guacemoley, how is that possible? Streak-free oranges are so hard to come by, so this will stay with me for a while yet ...

    Reddish LOTD's

    7. Nude By Nature Satin Liquid Lipstick - Sienna.  One word - divine! I have a few of these now, just hanging out till they expand the range into some brights, like a red or a fuchsia or a purple This is the boldest one I've swatched (and bought) so far, and given how blissfully comfortable this creamy liquid is, I hope they realise they're onto a good and great thing, and cater for us gals that go gaga over loud lip products ...
    8. Maybelline ColorSensational Made For All - Red For Me. I think you know by now how I feel about this little darling. Full review of the range is HERE ...
    9. Nude By Nature Satin Liquid Lipstick - Rich Plum. Ditto #7 ...

    Purple, Pink & Plum LOTD's

    10. Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance 50th Anniversary Lipstick - Marshmallow. I should have bought more of these. Actually, I did, but I gave them away! This shade is just so gorgeous, flattering and versatile. Looks equally fab with navy, khaki, grey or teal ...
    11. Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick - Electric Pink. Almost three years old, this one never fails to keep my lips hydrated, or brighten my day. Another one that I can't toss - I still have the whole set that I reviewed HERE ...
    12. Australis Liquid Lips - Pan-Na-Cotta.  Far more comfy formula than the matte range - I can handle this one, and of course, this shade is to die for. I'll be giving it a hammering this summer as I KNOW it will go perfectly with so many outfits ...

That's it for September lovelies - October collage is in the pipeline!

    Take care of you,
    kats xxx

    SPOTLIGHT: Favourite April 2019 LOTD's...

This April LOTD's post was supposed to go up in May, and being so late, I considered combining these 12 darlings with this month's selection. But there were just too many gorgeous shades to cull, so another lippie post will be coming your way hot on the heels of this one ...

Given we've hit winter, let's start with the ones that look like they're chock-full of Vitamin C ...

    1. NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream - Speed of Light. Being a limited edition, and only available now on Amazon and eBay, I should really stop teasing you with pics of this beauty. On the other hand, I keep hoping that if there are still current mentions on the web of how FANTASTIC this range was, NYX might reconsider and bring it back ...
    2. Innoxa Summer Matte - Tangerine. A fabulously citrus orange hey - this one I've had for ages, and it's still a regular in my repertoire because non-streaky lipsticks in this shade are rare, thank you Innoxa! ...
    3. Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick - Brownette. Brown lippies that are rich and lush are also few and far between, but fortunately, Bourjois appreciates the desire some of us gals have for something as warm and toasty as this earthy babe ...

    4. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Chilli. One of the most comfortable formulas in my experience, I reviewed these HERE and loved them so much I bought the three above, plus a couple more in the plums and pinks section below. All very similar sassy shades, but sufficiently different for someone who appreciates the tint variations. Chilli is bright and bold and leaning towards the warmer orangey spectrum ...
    5. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Scarlet. Scarlet is blood red - no mistaking it's bold and potent haemoglobin content, Dracula would be drooling over this ...
    6. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Rhubarb. A challenge for both my camera to capture and your monitor to display, this one is softer and more subtle IRL than the other two reds, with a couple of drops of pink added to make it a tad less scary if reds have you thinking twice. I think you'll agree though that all three are stunners ...

    7. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Plum. Be still my beating heart - there are moments like this when I think plum is my absolute favourite lippie shade ...
    8. Chi Chi Viva La Viva Lipstick - Lady Bump. Oh, joy of joys, even though I've had this for yonks, their website still has it listed - one of the most divine plum/berry lipsticks to ever grace the cosmetic shelves, awesome price and moisture-rich formula. Wear this if you want to slay, and I mean no prisoners lol ...
    9. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate - 30. Another one that could sway me away from all the other hues if it wasn't for my rainbow wardrobe. Kate knows her berries, and this is super sweet, succulent and juicy fruit all the way ...

    10. NYX Intense Butter Lip Gloss - Spice Cake. And then, of course, there is Spice Cake, which makes me yearn not for cake, but a strudel with cream cheese and blackberries. I swear when I wear this I'm salivating all day, but I don't need to lick my lips as this gloss keeps them super soft and supple between meals ...
    11. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Violet. The perfect transition shade if you've grown weary of pink but you're not quite ready to take the plunge into the berry deep-end. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm madly in love with this new Nutrimetics range ...
    12. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate - 20. One decibel away from Barbie-land, this always lifts my spirits and I can laugh at whatever challenges life throws at me. Kate also knows her pinks ...

Any faves here? Have a brilliant long weekend lovelies!

    Take care of you,

    SPOTLIGHT: June Empties + Giveaway!...

Better late than never! Everything is topsy-turvy at work hence the delay, but June was yet another mammoth month for empties - actually, who am I kidding, this is now the norm for me ha ha!...

    Body

Beechworth Honey Bush Honey & Macadamia Hand Cream (100ml, RRP $12)
One of my top three hand creams of all time, in fact, I'm wondering why on earth am I giving this away lol?!? Seriously though, when I find something I absolutely adore, I can't bear to NOT share it with you folks, and this is one of nature's gem - magnificently hydrating, supremely softening, it's scented with lemon myrtle & mandarin oils, and not tested on animals. I swear it's to die for ...
    Repurchase?
    As sure as eggs ...

Dermaveen Extra Gentle Shower & Bath Oil (500ml, RRP $17.99)
Reviewed HERE - I go through a bottle of this every month, adding a few squirts to whatever body wash I'm using. Keeps my skin soft, supple and moisturised. LOVE! ...
    Repurchase?
    Yessirreeee ...

Ecostore Coconut & Vanilla Hand Wash (250ml, RRP $5.99)
Just as delish as the body wash, non-drying and smells fantastic - cray cray for this, love the packaging too, so modern and stylish ...
    Repurchase?
Yes - always a bottle on my vanity, and one on the kitchen sink ...

Harvest Garden Rose Geranium, Patchouli & Lavender Soap with Australian Red Clay (130gm, RRP $7.50)
The last one in the old packaging, which was barely any packaging - not so keen on the new boxed presentation 'cos I can't see how gorgeous it is when I'm buying it. Have raved about this many many times - 100% natural, still my favourite soap ever, such a rich creamy lather, and I could sit around all day inhaling the fragrance  ...
    Repurchase?
Never without a cake or two in my undies drawer ...

Harvest Garden Grapefruit & Cedarwood (130gm, RRP $7.50)
Not quite so mad keen on this one - it started out being nicely scented, but it's been on my vanity for several weeks now and I can barely smell it any more. It's a lovely soap though - pretty earthy pattern and colour, and has cornflower petals embedded in it so it has an almost exfoliating effect, awesome when my hands are really grubby or I've been swatching lipsticks ...
    Repurchase?
    Definitely ...

Oral-B 3D White Luxe Glamorous White Toothpaste (95g, RRP $8.99)
This was my #1 toothpaste until I discovered the Perfection variety and instantly fell in love with its fresher pepperminty taste ...
    Repurchase?
Only if the white one isn't available ...

Original Source Green Banana & Bamboo Milk Moisturising Shower Milk (250ml, RRP $3.50)
Reviewed HERE. This particular flavour doesn't appear on their website any more nor in supermarket listings, so I guess that means it's been discontinued - a pity as it's quite yummy, and there are so few banana fragranced body products out there ...
    Repurchase?
No - actually I'm phasing this whole range out of my collection as it contains SLS...

Sukin Botanical Lime & Coconut Body Wash (500ml, RRP $12.95)
Loved this, but it's not surprising as I seem to love anything Sukin - low sudsing, non-drying, no sulphates, invigorating fresh scent, aloe second on the ingredient list, 100% vegan, no animal testing, I could go on but probably quicker if you just go out and buy it ...
    Repurchase?
    Undoubtedly ...

    Face

Beechworth Honey Beeswax Natural Lip Balm - Berry (5ml, RRP $7.95)
Softer than the usual stick lip balm consistency, and boy does it hydrate. Contains so many natural oils - sweet almond, coconut, sunflower, macadamia, rosehip, jojoba & olive, plus beeswax, shea butter, vitamins E & C. In short, it's a first aid kit for dry lips  ...
    Repurchase?
Definitely - just wish I could buy it in-store rather than online ...

Essano Rosehip Gentle Facial Exfoliator (100ml, RRP $14.99)
    Reviewed with love HERE ...
    Repurchase?
Oddly enough, no, or at least not for a while - I think I'm bored with the fragrance as it no longer appeals...

Indeed Labs Eyesilix (15ml, RRP $34.99)
Covered this in my January 2017 Empties post (HERE), and nothing's changed in my view - it's a lovely cream but doesn't do anything startling for my issues (crows feet, sagging, bagging)...
    Repurchase?
Nope - still looking for my HG eye cream...

    Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover (112ml, RRP $10.89)
My one, my only - I've not found any other product that can match this for taking off waterproof mascara in a flash, plus it's so gentle and doesn't sting my eyes ...
    Repurchase?
No less than three spares in my drawer at any one time ...

Skin Doctors Cosmeceuticals Eyetuck (15ml, RRP $49.95)
If you have small bags, then this will serve you brilliantly - effects are noticeable after two weeks' use, and even more noticeable if you stop using it in that the puffiness returns, so don't stop ha ha! ...
    Repurchase?
Love this, but my bags are so huge it no longer has any impact, and I've decided to bite the bullet and not repurchase as I've found something far more effective for my massive under-eye sacks (which I raved about HERE) ...

    Face Masks

Andalou Naturals Instant Life & Firm Hydro Serum Facial Mask (18ml, RRP $8.99)
I'm 50/50 about this mask - it stung my eyes, terrible face fit (see below pic), and yet where it came in contact, my skin looked like it was made from crushed pearls. The fragrance is lovely but quite intense, it hydrates magically and my skin looked firmer afterwards - such a pity I couldn't get it to cover everything even after five minutes of frustrating fiddling...
    Repurchase?
Not right now - might wait and see if they adjust the shape...

Bodyblendz Rose Collagen Facial Mask (RRP $7.50)
    Reviewed HERE ...
    Repurchase?
Probably, but not for a while as I have SO MANY in my stash - I keep thinking that my face mask discovery journey will wind down and then I can get on with just buying what I absolutely adore. But more and more companies keep bringing out more and more masks, so it will probably be endless like my micellar water exploration ...

Innoxa Hydrogel Under Eye Mask - Brightening with CoQ10 (3 pairs, RRP $14.99)
No photos as I slept in these during the week. They work out at $5 a pop, which is expensive compared to my other loves, but they are indeed superior in the firming, freshening and de-puffing departments ...
    Repurchase?
Yes, will slowly build up a stash (during sales) for special treats ...

Purederm Ginkgo Eye Puffiness Minimizing Patches (4 patches, RRP $3)
Well now, I think the word is spreading as these haven't been available in Kmart for three weeks, and my fear is rising ...
    Repurchase?
As soon as they are back in stock - I usually buy at least five packs at a time ...

Skin Physics Instant Lift V-Shape Vitality Mask (21g, RRP $14.99)
The most effective under-chin lifter EVER ...
    Repurchase?
I stock up whenever Priceline or CW has them on sale ...

Skin Republic Gold Hydrogel Mask (25g, RRP $12.99)
An old fave, they've made the nose piece a lot longer - it's almost too long now as it kinda flaps around and was sucked into my nostrils whenever I breathed in! Hard to beat this golden beauty for what it does for my skin though ...
    Repurchase?
I always have at least one of these in the backup box, but never EVER pay full price ...

Skin Republic Collagen Hydrogel Under Eye Patch (3 pairs, RRP $9.99)
Such great eye patches which I sleep in quite regularly - thankfully these are always available somewhere, and often on special ...
    Repurchase?
    Probably forever ...

    Fragrance

Stoneglow Candles London Lime & Mandarin Reed Diffuser (140ml, RRP $38.95)
Found this at my local chemist - according to Google these diffusers don't appear to be available anywhere in this country, and it's beyond me why some home decor giant isn't importing the range - it's the best I've ever tried, and that includes Glasshouse & Urban Rituelle. Whoa! Never thought I would say that, but it's true. Their website link is HERE. The packaging is divine - just looking at it restores my energy, lasts around 4 months, and the scent permeates the entire room (not just the immediate surrounding area) with a stunningly refreshing fragrance. They even make refills! ...
    Repurchase?
I've kept the bottle because it's so pretty, and to remind me to pick up another one for next Summer - I'm heading back to the pharmacy to see what other scents they have in stock ...

    Hair

Schwarzkopf Live Salon Permanent - Medium Ash Blonde (Box, RRP $13.99)
While I far prefer the Colour Specialist range (reviewed HERE) for its gentleness and the miraculous condition it leaves my hair in after use, over time the colour (Cool Light Blonde) is not working out to be what I wanted - it's too yellow (not enough ash). So I've switched to this range, which is the next best thing - contains "Salonplex" anti-breakage care, it's almost as softening, and the ammonia content is quite low. I mix two-thirds Medium Ash Blonde with one-third Ultra Light Ash Blonde for my roots, and the remainder I blend together for the ends every second or third round to maintain the highlights. Perfect! ...
    Repurchase?
You can count on it ...

Schwarzkopf Live Colour Pastels - Cool Grey (30ml, RRP $5.49)
I was using this to counteract the yellow, but I'll probably ease back on it now that I'm using a far ashier permanent colourant ...
    Repurchase?
I have quite a few bottles under the bathroom sink that I nabbed on special so I won't need to buy any for a while ...

    Makeup

Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil - Jewel Amethyst (RRP $30)
My passion for these eyeliners is the stuff that legends are made of ...
    Repurchase?
    No need to ask ...

Maybelline Brow Satin - Dark Blonde (RRP $16.95)
Was my HG brow product, but it's been replaced with the new MNY Total Temptation Brow Definer, which is the perfect shade for me (review HERE...
    Repurchase?
Only if the TT one isn't available ...

    Giveaway!

As usual a selection of my faves ...

    • 1 x Beechworth Honey Bush Honey & Macadamia Hand Cream
    • 1 x Skin Republic Gold Hydrogel Mask
    • 2 x Oral-B 3D White Luxe Diamond Strong Toothpaste
    • 1 x Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-Up Remover
    • 1 x Harvest Garden Sweet Orange & Lavender Natural Handcrafted Soap

All products were purchased by me, and the total value is approximately $55.
