SPOTLIGHT: Favourite September 2019 LOTD's...

Yay for Spring! A distinct lack of deep plums and berries in this collection, but that's to be expected as I slowly shift to the warmer weather wardrobe Every year the October long weekend is my signal, and every year, the week after I pack away the woollies, it gets cold again lol! Usually just for a week or so, but what's the point of patterns if you don't learn something, so this time I was smart and kept a few outfits aside just in case, and I actually didn't box my boots till today. It's still a bit too chilly in the mornings for strappy sandals, but I've dusted off the between-season shoes, the fake tan bottle is on the bench, and I've rearranged the wardrobe so I'm ready for the >25 degree days ahead -  bring it on! ...

Favourite September 2019 LOTD's collage

Only one red last month - I've been wearing more pastel shades so far, but I've no doubt it'll make a comeback once I get into the summery brights that are starting to wave at me from the closet ...

Brown LOTD's

1. Revlon Super Lustrous Pearl - Gold Goddess. This isn't a true representation of the actual lipstick - it's a gold slightly metallic shade, quite pale and sheer, but because I rarely want to look like I've just stepped out of a Bond movie (lol), I apply it over the top of something else, usually a brown that isn't golden enough to match my outfit, and it does the trick ...
2. Bourjois Rouge Velvet - Brownette.  One of my fave brown lippies, this one seems to go with any of the earthy shades in my wardrobe. The formula is super comfortable, and I usually only reapply after eating ...
3. Australis Metallic Velour Lips Matte Lip Cream - Bang Kok. Another one from my Australis $3 sale splurge. Simply adore the colour, but I'm not a fan of the drying effect it has on my lips so I carry around a toning gloss which I apply just to the inner part of my lips to stop them sticking together ...

Nude & Orange LOTD's

4. Covergirl Katy Kat Matte - Catoure. Have had this one a while, and I have a spare just in case it's discontinued, although I can still see it on the Priceline website. LOVE this shade, the feel and the finish. It's a demi-matte which is the only kind I can wear comfortably ...
5. Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer - Sunstone. In theory, this should be EOL as I bought it in...2015! I know because I reviewed some of the range HERE, and there are still some colours available, sadly not this one. What a brilliant formula though - to last this long with no change in taste, smell, texture or colour. Still awesomely hydrating, and the gloss just keeps on keeping on! ...
6. Innoxa Summer Matte - Tangerine. My lipstick cull has slowed lately as I keep finding ancient lippies (like this one) that are still perfectly viable. And this being such a juicy and vibrant orange, I simply can't toss it yet, although I bought it in 2014! Holey guacemoley, how is that possible? Streak-free oranges are so hard to come by, so this will stay with me for a while yet ...

Reddish LOTD's

7. Nude By Nature Satin Liquid Lipstick - Sienna.  One word - divine! I have a few of these now, just hanging out till they expand the range into some brights, like a red or a fuchsia or a purple This is the boldest one I've swatched (and bought) so far, and given how blissfully comfortable this creamy liquid is, I hope they realise they're onto a good and great thing, and cater for us gals that go gaga over loud lip products ...
8. Maybelline ColorSensational Made For All - Red For Me. I think you know by now how I feel about this little darling. Full review of the range is HERE ...
9. Nude By Nature Satin Liquid Lipstick - Rich Plum. Ditto #7 ...

Purple, Pink & Plum LOTD's

10. Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance 50th Anniversary Lipstick - Marshmallow. I should have bought more of these. Actually, I did, but I gave them away! This shade is just so gorgeous, flattering and versatile. Looks equally fab with navy, khaki, grey or teal ...
11. Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick - Electric Pink. Almost three years old, this one never fails to keep my lips hydrated, or brighten my day. Another one that I can't toss - I still have the whole set that I reviewed HERE ...
12. Australis Liquid Lips - Pan-Na-Cotta.  Far more comfy formula than the matte range - I can handle this one, and of course, this shade is to die for. I'll be giving it a hammering this summer as I KNOW it will go perfectly with so many outfits ...

That's it for September lovelies - October collage is in the pipeline!

Take care of you,

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite August 2019 LOTD's...

Time for another round of lipstick love! Thank goodness the days are getting longer and warmer - I'm so over scarves, gloves and even my beloved boots, which are becoming a wee bit too hot and stuffy after the morning chill has faded. While it's quite a chore, I do enjoy the end result of switching the wardrobe around and packing away the winter woollies for another year. I'm also ready for some pretty pastels and brights on my pout too, although as I'm always at least a month behind with these posts, you'll still be seeing the deep reds, plums and berries for a while yet...

As usual, I'll start with the nudes, which I've been exploring (and loving!) quite a bit more than usual lately ...

1. Nude by Nature Satin Liquid Lipstick - Natural. Oh wow - I haven't fallen in love with a true nude like this for a long long time. I think you know by now that I don't normally go for pale lipsticks, and the closest I go to a nude is more of a mauve or a coral (like the next one), but I'm in awe of this particular hue, which is extraordinarily flattering, and the formula is a total darling. Thanks to beautyheaven for sending this to me - I just plain adore it!
2. Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance - Coral Silk.  Love this one too - very high comfort factor, and although it's pale, there's enough pigment to keep me looking healthy, and it seems to take on a new life when I coordinate with coral clothing. A pity it's a special edition ...
3. Revlon Hyper Matte Ultra HD Matte Lip Mousse - Spice. Another nudey one (actually I'd call this a nude with benefits) that I spotted on special in the supermarket - such a pretty shade, but not all that comfortable as it's quite drying. It's tolerable with a balm or primer underneath, but I have so many others that are day-long hydrating, so I may not keep this ...

4. Bourjois Rouge Edition - Brun Boheme. This won my heart last autumn - not red, not orange, not brown, but a combo of all three to make a fabulously bricky hue that I can wear with both warm and cool colours (it's totally gorgeous with icy greys) ...
5. Lip Monthly Lipstick - 02. Close to being my favourite autumnal orange (as opposed to a summery neon orange). I have a couple of lippies that are quite a unique shade, and this is one of them. Lovely and moist too ...
6. Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance - Pecan. Don't think there's a Nutrimetics lipstick that I haven't loved - they sure do know how to put together great formulas with stunning shades. I'll be rocking this one all through the warm weather ...

7. Lacura Beauty Lipstick - Chief.  Hard to fault Aldi lipsticks, although their colour range is usually limited to only three or five choices, but what they do come out with are invariably awesome and terrific value  ...
8. DB Cosmetics Moisturising Lipstick - Red Hot Red. I need to update my DB lip collection as these are getting a bit old now, although they're still viable, comfortable and don't smell or taste weird. But I think I've had them for five years so it's time. This is a beaut neutral red that would suit most skin tones, so I hope it's still available ...
9. Maybelline ColorSensational Matte - Divine Wine. Tolerable matte formula, mainly because the colour is truly divine. I mean this is vamp in a tube hey ...

10. Lacura Beauty Mineral Lipstick - After Dark. Another beauty from Aldi - sadly a special edition, such a juicy berry, amazing formula and the rose gold packaging is luxe ...
11. Nutrimetics Silks Creme Lipstick - Plum. I've worn this so many times I'm half-way down the bullet in less than six months. I'm definitely a plum all year round gal, and this one is a stunner ...
12. NYX Cosmic Metals - Fuchsia Fusion.  The hottest, sassiest, pinkest pink in my collection. NYX please bring these back! ...

Take care of you,

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite July 2019 LOTD's...

I'm not sure how this happened, but it seems I didn't wear a red lipstick in July - whoa, must be a first! But hey, there were so many other gorgeous nudes and plums and purples I just had to trot out, and you know I'll make up for it in August lol. And a quarter of these were from Australis because they had a sale with all lipsticks on special for $3 - need I say more?...

As usual, there's a mix of old faves and newbies - still culling the collection, and will do a re-count soon ...

1. Colourpop Metallic Lip - DM.  I just adore this metallic golden bronze, but it's just too drying, so this was its last outing and I had to let it go...sob...
2. Bourjois Rouge Laque - Self Peach.  More tangerine than peach but I love it all the same. Love Bourjois! ...
3. Australis Colour Inject Moisturising Mineral Lipstick - Bolero.  For $3 I had to have this, but is it pink or is it red? Let's say a reddish pink, but not quite a fuchsia. This formula is beautiful - I'd forgotten how good these lippies are ...

4. W7 Kiss Lipstick - Reds - Chestnut.  How stunning is this warm and wintery red? The formula isn't so great though - very comfortable, moist and juicy, but it slips and slides all over the place. Even with a lip liner, you need to check it every so often as it has a tendency to end up on your chin and your cheeks lol ...
5. Maybelline ColorSensational Made For All - Mauve For Me.  Can't rave about this enough - SO flattering, the perfect formula. I have a few spares ...
6. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate - 48.  Another one I had to toss - have had it for years and it'd started to smell weird. Love the colour though ...

7. Nutrimetics Nutrimetics Hydra Brilliance - Marshmallow.  This one appears here fairly regularly - it's that perfect shade of plummy brown that goes so well with the darker colours in my winter wardrobe, and the formula is a dream ...
8. Maybelline ColorSensational Metallic Matte - Copper Rose.  This one just barely makes the cut in the comfort sector as it is a little drying, but the fabulous colour and unusual finish give it extra points so it's a keeper ...
9. Nutrimetics Silk Creme - Plum.  I have worn this heaps, in fact, I'm halfway down the bullet. Beautifully creamy, this keeps my lips supple and hydrated from dawn till dusk, and well that plummy pink hue is a winner ...

10. Australis Colour Inject Moisturising Mineral Lipstick - Electronica. Another from my bargain haul - bright but not scary and will be a regular this coming Spring ...
11. Revlon Super Lustrous - Berry Haute.  This is the pink that thought it was a purple - definitely borderline between the two shades, and one of my faves. Love your work Revlon ...
12. Australis Colour Inject Moisturising Mineral Lipstick - Gangsta Rap.  The find of the month - I have two tops and a cardi that are EXACTLY this colour, so thanks Australis! ...

That's it for July lovelies - which one do you fancy the most?

Take care of you,

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite June 2019 LOTD's...

Squeezing in the June LOTD's with some classic Winter colours - yum! Maybelline is dominating thanks to the Made For All pack I was so kindly sent, but there are a few pre-loved faves and a couple of newbies that I really didn't need, but couldn't resist lol ...

So let's get on with the details...

1. Bourjois Rouge Edition - Brun Boheme. SO love this colour - it's particularly stunning paired with  an olive themed outfit, and the comfort factor is 10/10 ,,,
2. Nude by Nature Moisture Shine - Garnet. So different from the other "garnet" lippies in my kit (which are way redder) but another supremely softening and lip-loving formula ...
3. Colour by TBN - Raison Rage. One of my latest bargains, this was in a bowl in Price Attack for under $5. I've not seen this brand anywhere else, but I'm quite impressed. Very moist, wears well for the price, and the shade is a rare breed in my collection ...

4. Maybelline ColourSensational Made For All - Red For Me. Gorgeous orangey red, this is the only matte in the range (well for now at least). Very comfortable and long-wearing. You'll find my dedicated post HERE ...
5. Maybelline ColourSensational Made For All - Ruby For Me. Oh goody - side by side with the Red For Me it's easier to see the colour difference between these two than it was in my article. This beauty def has more pink content - so moist, so delish! ...
6. Maybelline ColourSensational Made For All - Mauve For Me. Surprisingly this is the one I've worn the most so far - amazingly flattering to my skin tone and goes with just about anything. A raging success story Maybelline! ...

7. Maybelline ColourSensational Made For All - Pink For Me. I call this kind of shade antique pink - love that it's muted but still packs enough punch for those of us who need some colour to look healthy lol ...
8. Colour by TBN - Vampira. Bargain #2 from Price Attack. They only had one other shade in the bowl - a nude that was too pale for me, but I'm hoping to find another outlet for these where I can check out the whole range ...
9. Shanghai Suzy - Miss Georgina Pink Plum. A much-loved berry (you can tell by the label wearing off). I simply MUST try more of these (vegan & cruelty-free). There's a special at the mo' - 3 for $50 with free express shipping HERE, although this particular shade seems to have been discontinued ...

10. Maybelline ColourSensational Made For All - Fuchsia For Me. Wowser bold pink that's sure to lift your spirits - a total knockout if you're wearing a black, grey or navy outfit ...
11. Maybelline ColourSensational Made For All - Plum For Me. The other one from this stunning range that's particularly dear to my heart. This is so ME! ...
12. Sash Cosmetics Luminous Lipstick - Insomnia. I feel a bit bad posting anything from this brand as it folded last Christmas, and there's nothing worse than falling head over heels for a lipstick colour only to find it's no longer available, so forgive me. I keep hoping they'll be reincarnated ...

So that's the June's lineup done and dusted - do let me know your thoughts on the Maybelline Made For All lippies if you've tried any of them!

Take care of you,

May 2019 Empties & Giveaway!...

This may well be my biggest empties post yet! I mentioned in my April article that I was "over" having multiple opened skincare products on my bench, so I'm in the middle of a blitz clearing everything that's part-used. While there are only two "old" creams here (eye & day moisturiser), the big win was actually the shower stall where I managed to clear several hair products and face scrubs that I've had in rotation for many months. Feels SO GOOD I can assure you! ...

May 2019 Empties

Body

La Roche-Posay Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil (400ml, RRP $33.95)
This 100ml sample tube came in a beauty box a long long time ago - having only recently experienced its wondrous moisturising powers in the shower, I was feeling quite silly for keeping it in the drawer for so long. But then I read the label and saw the SLS content, and now I'm in a quandary because my skin sure seems to love this slightly foaming cleanser ...

Despite it being such a lovely product, probably not...

Reach Dentotape (20m, RRP $2.99)
I keep forgetting to hang onto this container to include it in my empties. After this post, it will appear in the Regulars section as I go through at least one pack a month flossing after every meal. This is a can't-live-without, the ONLY floss worth buying in my book! I have a mixture of wide and tight gaps between my teeth, and this tape is the only one that works for every instance, doesn't fray, and doesn't hurt my gums. Being extra wide, it lifts out even the minutest chunks of debris and those hard to shift berry seeds. The crazy thing is that I can only buy it at Chemist Warehouse, so I usually pick up in-store or order online at least five packs at a time ...

For as long as I have teeth! ...

SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Body Wash (384ml, RRP $24.95)
So softening, so moisturising, so beneficial for dry skin. My review is HERE ...

Most definitely - a reminder that if you enter the "KATS" code at the checkout, you get 30% off! ...

Skin Physics Advance Superlift Caviar Age-Recovery Hand & Nail Renewal Cream SPF15 (75ml, RRP $39.99)
Hand cream is another I'll be putting into focus over the next few months as I'm notorious for having anything up to 10 "in progress" tubes lying around the house, office, handbag, car. But it will be a big challenge to clear those as I fell so deeply in love with this hand cream that came my way at the beautyheaven Glosscars event back in March. At $40 for 75ml, it's what I would call expensive, but I'm prepared to pay that much for my next tube because I consider it a treatment product. If the ingredients list sequence is anything to go by, I don't think there's much caviar content, but the formula is certainly a winner for hands of advanced age like mine. The cream is quite runny, but sure packs a punch as far as moisturising potency is concerned, together with delivering tangible results in spot lightening, wrinkle reduction, nail strengthening and overall skin plumping. It has a faint fresh scent and absorbs lightning fast, leaving no greasy residue. The only thing I don't like is the tube, which is flat and unstable when stood on end - it topples over when the cat sneezes in another part of the house, but I can live with that because it's so good ...
Repurchase?
I certainly will, just as soon as I finish off my MASSIVE tube of L'Occitane, that was also gifted by beautyheaven ...

White Glo Charcoal Total Mouth Detox Whitening Mouthwash (500ml, RRP $6.99)

BotanicES Eye Creme (15ml, RRP $40)
My review of this fab eye cream is HERE. I've been somewhat unfaithful to it over the last 18 months in that I've been trying quite a few others that came my way as gifts, freebies or trials, and am currently stuck on a retinol one, but I'll get back to this darling for the summer, which is when the consistency and moisturising power are perfect for my peepers ...
Repurchase?
Yep ...

Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Cooling Gel Scrub (100g, RRP $11.99)
Love this scrub, and especially its invigoratingly fresh scent, which wakes me up nicely on these cold dark mornings. Gentle yet effective for keeping my pores goop-free ...

Nivea Cellular Anti-Age Day Cream SPF15 (50ml, RRP $27.99)
This was left over from last September when I was sent the revamped (Hyaluron) version to trial for beautyheaven. After that, I shifted to a retinol range, and then the Elasticity & Re-Densifying Day Cream arrived for trial (again from bh), so this one has been languishing on my bench with about one third left in the jar. Didn't want to toss it though as it's excellent ...
Repurchase?
It's not available any more, the new Hyaluron version is even better...

Nutrimetics Honey & Almond Scrub (125ml, RRP $40)
Actually covered my first tube of this (in many years) last month, so I may have to shift it to the Regulars section next time around. I powered through this second one in six weeks, that's how often I use it ...
Repurchase?
Yes, love it! ...

Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-Aging Detoxifying Pore Scrub (150ml, RRP $14.99)
Another scrub that I absolutely adored. I bought it purely because it was on special, and I've decided it'll be a regular in my skin care kit from now on. Smells divine and it's gentle enough to use every other day - the exfoliant is silica. My only beef with this is the packaging - the red colouring of the label starts to wear off after a while, and it took a few "what the hell is that?" episodes before I figured out where the little red flakes on my face were coming from! ...
Repurchase?
Yes indeedy ...

St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub (150ml, RRP $9.99)
My shower caddy is never without this - it's my deep dive super clean mega scrub that I use once a week to really pare back the dead surface cells. Love the apricot scent, and even though it's the strongest scrub in my kit, it never ever causes any irritation. Been using it for years, and will continue to do so for as long as they make it ...

Olay Regenerist Miracle Boost Youth Pre-Essence (40ml, RRP $39.99)

Face Masks

Skin Republic Pink Clay Mud Sheet Mask (18g, RRP $12.99)
With the regularity of their appearances in these posts, it's safe to say that Skin Republic masks are very dear to my heart, and whenever they're on special, I stock up. This Pink Clay Mud one has been featured several times because it has so much going for it - full coverage, great fit, mess-free, deep cleansing, and it tightens pores. The only drawback is the price - but if you're like me, you'll hunker down until there's a deal at Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, Woolworths etc ...

Skin Republic Seaweed Hydrogel Mask (18g, RRP $12.99)
It's hard to beat hydrogel masks for a hydration boost. As effective at calming redness and infusing moisture as the Green Tea one, this one doesn't have quite as much chill so it's a more comfortable one for winter. They're both terrific, and my preference is always for a two-piece as they fit heaps better, and seem to be less likely to fall off ...

Vera Wang Princess Revolution EDT (50ml, RRP $49)
I reviewed this lovingly HERE. It's taken me three years to get through this totally gorgeous bottle of edgy deliciousness, but that's not surprising given I have so many others on my shelf (oops!). Sadly I can't find this anywhere except on eBay, so I guess I'll have to replace it with one of the many others in the Princess series ...

Goldwell Kerasilk Control Shampoo (250ml, RRP $35.95)
Oddly enough, this is the first appearance of this brilliant shampoo on my blog, which is puzzling since I've been using it for years. A free bottle is included with every Kerasilk treatment (usually every three months) and then I only have to buy one more bottle to tide me over till the next session. Oddly enough it contains SLS (I've only just spotted it on the label - quelle horreur!) and yet it doesn't have any negative effects on either my hair or scalp. It has a lovely fresh scent and keeps my tresses glossy and in tip-top de-frizzed shape ...

O&M Original Detox Shampoo (350ml, RRP $32.95)
This was recommended by my hairdresser as I use quite a few styling products to achieve my latest messy look (lol!), and it works a treat as a clarifier - doesn't strip away the necessary oils nor any colourant. Being SLS-free it takes a bit of doing to get the first wash to foam up but after that no problem. What I'm not so keen on is the strong peppermint content, which I enjoy in toothpaste, mouthwash, Minties and chewing gum, but as a rule, not anywhere else ...

No - I've since found something even more effective with a fragrance that I love...

Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Keratin Cream Rinse (250ml, RRP $34.95)
This bottle was left over from the time when I was unable to buy the Goldwell Kerasilk Control Conditioner, and if I ever have that problem again, this is the conditioner I would purchase in a heartbeat as a replacement. It's truly fabulous - leaves my hair SO SOFT it doesn't even feel like hair ha ha! ...
Repurchase?
Absolutely, but only if I can't find my Kerasilk fave ...

Schwarzkopf OSIS+ Sparkler Shine Spray (300ml, RRP $27.95)
Discovered this during my ongoing search for a shine spray that doesn't weigh my hair down or build up after multiple uses. Well, this one (recommended by a Priceattack assistant) is pretty darn near perfect - unbelievable mirror shine, plus de-frizzing and conditioning. It does build up a little if you use it in the same quantity as hairspray but applied as recommended in short bursts, it's the ultimate gloss and makes even grey hair look fabulously healthy and vibrant ...

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation - Beige (30ml, RRP $29)
Awesome foundation - the perfect colour match for my skin tone. Medium coverage with a soft dewy finish, I mix it most days (on the back of my hand) 50/50 with am SPF50 CC cream for a tad more density and protection. But it works brilliantly on its own as well, lasts a good 12 hours, more in the cooler weather when I don't sweat so much ...

Definitely - as soon as I finish a couple of others ...

DB Cosmetics Flawless All in One Foundation Stick - True Beige (15g, RRP $14.99)
I always prefer to have at least one stick foundation in my kit at all times - reminds me of my drama school days and the pro makeup stash underneath the stage that we were able to raid whenever there was a performance. This one from DB is excellent for the price - it's quite creamy and provides full coverage if you need it, has a slightly dewy finish (that I set with a translucent powder,) lasts well throughout the day, and True Beige is a great match for me. I also use this with a cotton bud to clean up mascara or eye shadow specks around my eyes even when I'm using other foundations ...
