SPOTLIGHT: Favourite March & April 2020 LOTD's...

Sadly I missed the upload boat for the fave March LOTD's. To be honest, when I started working from home, I didn't wear any makeup for the first 10 days (until it hit me how much I missed it!) so there weren't a lot of photos to choose from, soooo...I decided to combine the March and April posts to have as wide a colour and texture range as possible to choose from, so here we go ...

With the start of Autumn, I trotted out some of my precious browns...

1. NYX Slip Tease Lip Lacquer - Shady. These were March's Find Of The Month. For $7 each at Priceline, I couldn't possibly resist - dense, creamy, rich and deliciously moist, my full review of the first six I bought is HERE ...
2. Maybelline Color Sensational - Bean There. Probably one of the last few times you'll see this in a post as I've almost hit pan, and as is often the case with my loves, it's no longer available. Still on the hunt for a replacement - I have quite a few browns in my collection, but they all have a lot of red content, whereas this darling is golden all the way ...
3. Colour by TBN - Mocha-Chino. This range was last year's big discovery at Price Attack. For $3.95 they can't be beat for intensity, packaging, range and comfort. This is such a pretty and soft latte There are two dedicated posts for these babies, HERE & HERE ...
4. L'Oreal Le Rouge Lumiere - Brilliant Brown. This was one I bought from Priceline recently (online) and which I was hoping would be a replacement for the MNY Bean There above. Of course, the trap with buying lipsticks online is that rarely are the website colours accurate, and this one is leaning more towards orange. But I'm glad I indulged as it's totally gorgeous and perfect for this time of year ...

5. NYX Slip Tease Lip Lacquer - Modern Soul. Possibly my most favourite orange of all time. I mean how unusual is it, and so different than anything else I have. I'm totally in love with these lacquers, and because they were (and are still) $7 from Priceline, I figured the range was being discontinued, but they are still listed on the NYX Aussie site, just not these shades, so perhaps they're just doing a colour revamp? Fingers crossed ...
6. Colour by TBN - Why So Orange.  Another amazing orange, and one that will brighten many a dull day in the coming winter - SO vibrant ...
7. Colour by TBN - Roses Are Red. Well now, I could just keep on raving about these lipsticks forever, but how about this red? I reckon it would almost glow in the dark! ...
8. Nutrimetics Silk Creme - Chilli.  Still loving all my Nutrimetics lippies, and Chilli red is another one that will punch a massive hole in the dreary ...

9. Maybelline Vivid Hot Lacquer - Classic. Sometimes I just need a super-duper glossy OTT out-there red, and when I do, this is the one I reach for. Bought it mid-2018 and there's been no deterioration in the formula or wham-factor ...
10. Colour by TBN- Milkshake. One of the most gorgeous rosy coral pinks ever! ...
11. Antipodes Natural Lipstick - South Pacific Coral.  This was in a gift pack that was sent to me recently, for which I will be eternally grateful  Antipodes lipsticks are so full of goodness, and they never disappoint in comfort, density and moisturising power ...
12. Karen Murrell Natural Lipstick - Blushing Rose. Don't you just love it when companies put out a freebie with a magazine? This was one of three colours that came with the April issue of Marie Claire. I'd been wanting to try at least one from the range for ages, but hadn't gotten around to it. At $29.95 they're not cheap, but who cares when they're riddled with nourishing ingredients that make them so good for girl ...

13. NYX Slip Tease Lip Lacquer - Rosy Outlook. Absolutely nuts about this shade. Have been going through a discovery phase with rose coloured lip products, and delighted with the results, given that I'd always classified this colour family as "doesn't suit me". But this darling has changed all that ...
14. Karen Murrell Natural Lipstick - Bordeaux Rouge. Another from the Marie Claire GWP - perfect winter red, like mulled wine, and my lips drink in all the goodness ...
15. Maybelline Colordrama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil - Berry Much.  These lip crayons just keep on keeping on - this baby has had many many outings, and more to come. The formula is so comfortable, and these also work brilliantly as lip liners ...
16. NYX Slip Tease Lip Lacquer - Negotiator. Oh oh oh. Haven't lusted after a new purple for ages, but this one has my heart ...

Which ones do you like?

Take care of you, and keep your loved ones safe,

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite April 2019 LOTD's...

This April LOTD's post was supposed to go up in May, and being so late, I considered combining these 12 darlings with this month's selection. But there were just too many gorgeous shades to cull, so another lippie post will be coming your way hot on the heels of this one ...

Given we've hit winter, let's start with the ones that look like they're chock-full of Vitamin C ...

1. NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream - Speed of Light. Being a limited edition, and only available now on Amazon and eBay, I should really stop teasing you with pics of this beauty. On the other hand, I keep hoping that if there are still current mentions on the web of how FANTASTIC this range was, NYX might reconsider and bring it back ...
2. Innoxa Summer Matte - Tangerine. A fabulously citrus orange hey - this one I've had for ages, and it's still a regular in my repertoire because non-streaky lipsticks in this shade are rare, thank you Innoxa! ...
3. Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick - Brownette. Brown lippies that are rich and lush are also few and far between, but fortunately, Bourjois appreciates the desire some of us gals have for something as warm and toasty as this earthy babe ...

4. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Chilli. One of the most comfortable formulas in my experience, I reviewed these HERE and loved them so much I bought the three above, plus a couple more in the plums and pinks section below. All very similar sassy shades, but sufficiently different for someone who appreciates the tint variations. Chilli is bright and bold and leaning towards the warmer orangey spectrum ...
5. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Scarlet. Scarlet is blood red - no mistaking it's bold and potent haemoglobin content, Dracula would be drooling over this ...
6. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Rhubarb. A challenge for both my camera to capture and your monitor to display, this one is softer and more subtle IRL than the other two reds, with a couple of drops of pink added to make it a tad less scary if reds have you thinking twice. I think you'll agree though that all three are stunners ...

7. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Plum. Be still my beating heart - there are moments like this when I think plum is my absolute favourite lippie shade ...
8. Chi Chi Viva La Viva Lipstick - Lady Bump. Oh, joy of joys, even though I've had this for yonks, their website still has it listed - one of the most divine plum/berry lipsticks to ever grace the cosmetic shelves, awesome price and moisture-rich formula. Wear this if you want to slay, and I mean no prisoners lol ...
9. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate - 30. Another one that could sway me away from all the other hues if it wasn't for my rainbow wardrobe. Kate knows her berries, and this is super sweet, succulent and juicy fruit all the way ...

10. NYX Intense Butter Lip Gloss - Spice Cake. And then, of course, there is Spice Cake, which makes me yearn not for cake, but a strudel with cream cheese and blackberries. I swear when I wear this I'm salivating all day, but I don't need to lick my lips as this gloss keeps them super soft and supple between meals ...
11. Nutrimetics Silk Creme Lipstick - Violet. The perfect transition shade if you've grown weary of pink but you're not quite ready to take the plunge into the berry deep-end. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm madly in love with this new Nutrimetics range ...
12. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate - 20. One decibel away from Barbie-land, this always lifts my spirits and I can laugh at whatever challenges life throws at me. Kate also knows her pinks ...

Any faves here? Have a brilliant long weekend lovelies!

Take care of you,

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite March 2019 LOTD's...

Given I have such an acute obsession with lipstick, I've always wanted to send a massive "thank you!" into the ether to whoever invented it. So I did a bit of digging (aka googling) and yes, no one knows who came up with it, but the practice of colouring the lips can be traced back at least 5,000 years. And in those early days, red lip colourant was often extracted from highly toxic substances that eventually poisoned the wearer, and apparently, this is where the term "kiss of death" comes from. Whoa - who knew? Fast forward to today when we still need to be careful with what we use to decorate our pouts, but fortunately, there is a multitude of choices available, both in formulation ingredients and presentations, so let's just say I'm eternally grateful to anyone and everyone who has contributed to the evolution of this most magically uplifting cosmetic ...

And so here we go with the products and hues that clanged my chimes in March ...

1. Revlon Super Lustrous - Bronze Beauty. Have had this one for a long long time - according to the purists I should have tossed it 2 years ago, but it's still going strong, comfortable, no colour change and doesn't have a weird smell. Ok, so I'm not a purist lol ...
2. Mirenesse 3D Forever Gloss - Star Struck. Another one that's older than I care to admit, but I just ADORE the colour, and they don't make it any more sob ...
3. David Jones Moisture Cream - Terracotta. This autumn stunner is a long time favourite, and exactly 2 years old - I guess you can tell that I was rummaging through my aged lippie box in March! Seriously though I've had a major blitz in the last couple of months and tossed out a whole bunch so that I can rotate my precious lippies more frequently ...

4. Appeal Cosmetics Ultra Shine Liquid Lipstick - Vixen. This one hasn't made an appearance in these posts since 2017, but I have been wearing it fairly regularly - it's the ultimate in glossy red liquid lipsticks, but you definitely need a lipliner as it has a tendency to bleed, well on me anyway ...
5. Mirenesse Mattfinity Rouge - Ibiza. This one is still available - luscious formula, intense colour, supremely comfortable, but not really a matte (thank goodness!) ...
6. Rimmel The Only 1 Matte - High FlyerLove this nudey pink - I have a few from this range and they are very kind on the lips. I've binned all the ultra-drying lip products I had in my kit, but this one is a stayer ...

7. Jane Iredale Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist - Ella. Oh oh oh, this was a freebie at the beautyheaven Glosscars event. The formula is to die for - so rich and creamy, silky smooth, and it even survived a meal. More please! ...
8. Covergirl Katy Kat Matte - Catoure. A regular in these posts, there's something about this shade that I just love on my skin, and it's also one of the non-lip-shrivelling mattes left in my collection ...
9. Lacura Photo-Fit - London. Discovered this range last November, and I've been a fan ever since. There's a fabulous red and hot pink too, but this mauve has won my heart ...

10. Maybelline Colorsensational - Pink Me Up. I admit I have now let this one go - they don't make it any more, and while it was way paler than I normally wear, I loved pairing it with the occasional pastel outfit ...
11. NYX Cosmic Metals - Fuchsia Fusion. My ultimate hot pink gloss of all time - these were a limited edition and I'm totally bummed as they were unquestionably the best metallic lip glosses I've ever tried. NYX, please reconsider!!! ...
12. Revlon Ultra HD Metal Matte Lip Color - Dazzle. One of the few matte liquid lipsticks I've kept - it's quite drying but I simply can't let this fabulous orchid purple go ...

Well lovelies, that's it for March - April will follow soon!

Take care of you,
kats xxx

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite June 2018 LOTD's...

Another month of lipsticks, and interestingly more cool hues than warm. I rarely ever pick my lippie first - instead, I choose my outfit and then rummage through my collection for something that will tone in with the theme. Below is the usual pretty broad range of brands, and one in particular that blew me away with its uniqueness ...

I slipped a bit with my blogging schedule in August, so there'll probably be another of these posts before September is over ...

1. First cab off the rank is one of the Nutrimetics 50th Anniversary nc Hydra Brilliance Lipsticks (full review HERE) - Lobster Bisque. The formula of this range is ultra lip-friendly, and this pale orange beauty is most unusual. I have a few apricot-coloured pieces in my wardrobe, and this blends so well ...
2. Always happy to include a cheapie if I think it's ok, and this OXX Cosmetics Lipstick from Kmart - Chocolate - is pretty darn good for $2! Nicely pigmented, reasonably hydrating, love the shade ...
3. This third one is another Nutrimetics 50th Anniversary nc Hydra Brilliance Lipstick - Marshmallow. A truly flattering browny red, and just the ticket for the cooler seasons ...

4. Yes, it's one more Nutrimetics 50th Anniversary nc Hydra Brilliance Lipstick - Aztec Bronze. Gorgeous, GORGEOUS deep and subdued yet intense Winter red - adore! ...
5. So now we're talking REDS! This is Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick MAT6 - one of the reddest reds in my kit, supernally comfortable for a matte, well it's not really matte, but it's a knockout hue hey ...
6. And if you're after fire engine red, this is the go - Covergirl Colourlicious Lipstick in Hot Passion. Covergirl makes fabulous lipsticks - so underrated in the market ...

7. Here's one that's appeared before - NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Toasted Marshmallow. Hard to go past these glosses for density, intensity and comfort - love 'em to bits! ...
8. Another bargain lippie that's underrated - Lacura (Aldi) Beauty Mineral Lipstick in the shade After Dark. A stunning rose gold case, awesomely moist formula, a steal at $4.99, but no doubt under the Aldi curse of probably-no-longer-available ...
9. Oh oh oh, now this was the find of the month - Isabelle Dupont Velvet Matte Lip Cream, shade 602. Came in a LipMonthly bag, honestly quite uncomfortable as it's so drying, but when I fall head over heels in love with a colour, I'll put up with anything! Isn't this just so sensationally different? Needs a clear gloss topper to make it wearable, but I'm crazy about this mauvey pink, and it lasts brilliantly ...

10. The last Nutrimetics 50th Anniversary nc Hydra Brilliance Lipstick -  Frosted Grape you'll see today lol. As you can tell I was quite taken with their retro range, and this pink is divine ...
11.  NARS Serdem Lipstick in Larkspur. Overwhelmingly disappointing in that the bullet is the boldest purple, but it goes on very sheer. Still, I've included it as it's still such a stunning colour, and exceptionally hydrating ...
12. An oldie but still a viable goodie - Chi Chi Viva La Diva Lipstick in Husband Shopping. I have a passion for pinky purples, and this one wears amazingly well, and never disappoints for intense pigment ...

That's it for now gals, another round is in the pipeline. Meanwhile, I'm keen to know if you like any of these, hmm? ...

Take care of you,
kats xxx

SPOTLIGHT: Favourite May 2018 LOTD's...

Time for another round of personal fave LOTD's. To this day it still surprises me how lipstick-loco I've become in the last few years. In my younger days, I never dreamed that I would have such a massive collection so late in life, and in most colours of the rainbow. As I recall I was obsessed with ONE particular lippie in my early teens - can't for the life of me remember the brand (most likely Avon), but it was the palest beige, icily frosted and I used to slick it on straight after meals as I thought it made me look so hot lol! It's laughable because now it's the last colour I would wear - I'd just look ill ...

As usual, there are a few non-mainstream brands in the collage, and I'll start with the reds and work my way towards my true love, purple...

1. This first one has appeared before - Seraphine Botanicals Vegan Berry Tint in Cherry Cream. Every time I think about cancelling my Lip Monthly subscription, I remind myself how many gems have come my way in their little bags, and this is one - so creamy, so dense and such a fabulously vibrant red ...
2. Another stunningly fiery hue, this is Lush Liquid Lipstick in the shade Power Without Fierce. I should wear this way more often as it's simply divine, the gold shimmer is just so flattering ...
3. At least one of these NYX Cosmic Metals lip creams appears in every post as I wear them probably more than any other product - this is Solar Energy, adore its juicy vibrancy ...

4. You may have gathered I'm quite fond of metallic finishes - I just love the sheen! This one is Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lip in the shade DM. Wish it wasn't so drying, but it's tolerable ...
5. It's lipstick shades like this that make me look forward to Autumn - L'Oreal Infallible Forever Frappe. Gorgeous maple, and so lovely and moist ...
6. Another repeater, L'Oreal Color Riche - Oud Obsession. Is it brown, is it red? Don't care, it's a stunner either way ...

 7. Another one from Lip Monthly. I can count on them for something a bit different, and I can't get enough of this dusky pink - Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme in Antique Pink, and kiss proof it sure is, lasts forever, and then some ...
8. This ever so pretty pink is Rimmel Lasting Finish in Heart Breaker - moist and comfy, I have quite a few from this range ...
9. Adore this one and it's only $6 from Woolworths! - MUD Full Colour Lip Lacquer in Wild Mauve Surprisingly comfortable and reasonably long wearing ...

10. Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick - Berry Boost. This range is still SO good, beautiful colours and the formula is brilliant, although it's far from matte, which suits me just fine ...
11. Fell for this one big time - Revlon Ultra HD Matte Metallic Lip Colour in Dazzle. There's nothing even vaguely metallic about it, but the shade soothes my soul ...
12. NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream - Asteroid Aura. Be still my beating heart ...

Well, that's it for another month lovelies - what's your latest lippie discovery?

Take care of you,
kats xxx

SPOTLIGHT: 4th Quarter 2017 Fave LOTD's - Part 2...

It's pretty obvious that I love and wear a wide range of lipstick colours, and it's incredibly difficult for me to pick one all-time fave. But I might just stick my neck out and say that there's one on this page that hits the mark every time I slick it on, so let's get on with the big reveal lol ...

Categorising colours is a matter of personal interpretation, and it's clear from the names that brands give their lippies that not everyone sees the same thing! Often I'm torn between one classification and another, but I'll start with what I call plums, although there's only a couple...

This first one is a good example of "what colour do you call it?" In this photo, it's close to being a bricky red, but in reality it has too much pink in it to appear in Part 1 - it's a mini Matte Lipgloss from SAVVY by DB and it's called Flame. The middle one was another gift from my (darling!) beautyheaven Secret Santa - Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick by PUR Cosmetics in the shade Addiction. Fabulously pigmented and long-lasting. On the right is NYX Metallic Matte Liquid Suede in Pure Society. Crikey I fell hook line and sinker for this lippie store-swatch, that was until an hour after I applied it and it started flaking off. So saddening as it's the most gorgeous GORGEOUS colour, but the lip shrivelling formula sucks big time...

In case you hadn't noticed we're into the berries now, and this Rouge Laque Purpledelique by Bourjois is a star - lasts for ages, it has just the right amount of gloss, plus it's non-drying. The second pic is the same lippie, but with another layer added so you can see that this baby is also buildable to really bring out the berry. The third pic is (drum roll please)... "The One". Oh my gosh, have you ever seen a more brilliant pink? NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream in Fuchsia Fusion. I've mentioned before how much I love this whole range for intensity and comfort, and of all the colours, this is my favourite (yes even above the purples!). If you wear this, I can guarantee you will receive numerous compliments, and lots of gals will want to know what it is. Simply stunning! ...

You can probably tell I'm a big fan of bold and bright pinks - for me they're 100% smile-inducing, and this mini Matte Lipgloss in Flicker from SAVVY by DB is a hottie. In the middle is Pink Macaroon NYX Intense Butter Gloss - one that will always be in my kit, well as long as they keep making it. NYX glosses are the bomb. And on the right is another lovely pink, a warmer one this time, and yet another of the SAVVY by DB mini Matte Lipglosses - Fire. Can't get over how wonderful these are for $1! ...

For those wanting something a little less out-there, here is Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Amethyst Shimmer - another babe I've had for a while, and a regular throughout Spring. Such a flattering hue, and totally lip-friendly. I included the next one because it's such an unusual shade - it's by Trifle Cosmetics, and came in a Lip Monthly bag. Called Matte Decadence Multipurpose Matte Crayon for Lips & Cheeks. It's a little drying, but the colour is so unique. The last one is Lily Lake Natural Lipstick by Burt's Bees - beautifully moist formula, this could easily be classed as a nude, but alongside my others, it's definitely a pink ...

And for the purple lovers, we have a borderline pink/purple by BYS - Diamond Lipstick in Sparkle Baby. Would prefer something a little more hydrating, but the shade is ever so pretty. If you''re not sure if you're a purple gal, then this is a beaut introduction. In the centre is W7 Liptember Lipstick in Neon Purple - quite sheer, but a few extra slicks will give you this amazing colour pay-off. On the right is another NYX Intense Butter Gloss, this time in Berry Strudel. It looks a little blue around the edges, but that's because I used an eyeliner as my lipliner, and it was the closest one I had to the colour - I've since bought a matching one from NYX. Again, LOVE NYX glosses! ...

And now we get to the REAL purples. On the left is Colourpop Satin Lip in So Wavy. I'm a satin or gloss gal at heart - I find so many of the mattes to be too drying, and this one works exceptionally well. Centre stage is what I classify as the ultimate purple - only recently added some JeffreeStar lip products to my collection, thanks to a blog sale by Sarah from More Than Adored. This one is called I'm Royalty, and there was never a more appropriate name hey. One of the best matte lip products in the marketplace, and possibly the only one that I can wear comfortably all day long. And I'm finishing up with more JeffreeStar - this is a blend of Blue Velvet (100% blue, which I doubt I'll ever wear on its own) and Blow Pony (a pale pinky purple). I mixed the two to match my outfit, and they blend together amazingly well with no streaking ...

So that's it for 2017! Thanks for stopping by lovelies - anything here you fancy?

Take care of you,
kats xxx

SPOTLIGHT: 3rd Quarter 2017 Fave LOTD's - Part 2...

With so many finishes and formulas, it isn't possible for me to declare any particular one of these plums, berries, pinks and purples as the star of my collection - they are all here because I love them, and while some colours are similar, they all deserve a place on this page. Of course at my age, a bit of gloss always looks and feels heaps better, but there are a few mattes around that I'm comfortable in, so here goes ...

I wear all colours all year round, but the deeper ones don't appear as frequently in the warmer weather purely because my Summer wardrobe tends towards brighter lighter hues. But unlike my fragrances, I don't put any lippies away when the season changes - you never know when you're going to need a plum ha ha! ...

This first one in row one appeared in the last quarter post as well - crazy about this Max Factor Color Elixir Giant Pen Stick in Intense Plum. It doesn't seem to be part of the range any more, so I won't tease you again. In the middle is a similar hue that IS available - Covergirl Katy Kat Matte in Maroon Meow. Head over heels for this comfy formula, the range in general!  Third one is Milani Lipstick in Chilled Brandy - can't see this one on their website, so I'll add it to the don't tease list. As you can tell I have a habit of falling in love with products and colours that get discontinued - boo!...

Berries are forever, and I reckon they look good on anyone. This first one is another of the ModelsPrefer Artist Collection Crayons - Orchid.  Next up is Bourjois Rouge Laque Liquid Lipstick in Purple Delique. You know when I said before that I couldn't name any one of these lippies as the star? Hmm, this is close. DIVINE! On the right is another Bourjois - a Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipstick called Plum Plum Girl. It's quite sheer but buildable, feels like liquid silk, and lasts for hours. I have to say that my most lustworthy lip product discovery this Winter has been Bourjois ...

#1 is ANOTHER Bourjois Lipstick - Violine Strasse. Stunning colour, stunning formula. The second one is Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Sloane's Plum - can't fault this release for comfort and value. And the last one in this row is another that appeared in the last post - definitely my favourite dusky pink of all time, Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Vintage Pink. This colour is deep enough to make an impact, and soft enough to epitomise femininity ...

Who doesn't love a bright pink! These three are similar shades, but I've included them all because of the differences in formula and finish. On the left is Maybelline Color Jolt in Fight Me Fuchsia. I decided I wouldn't buy any of these (just to see how strong I could be) but as you can see I caved! So glad I did - these liquid glosses are gorgeous, and this pink is to die for. Middle one is Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in shade 20. Beautiful, clear, bright pink and a pleasure to wear. On the right is Antipodes Lipstick in Dragon Fruit Pink. This is one I promised myself months and months ago after the beautiful Marisa Robinson so kindly gifted me with Hungry Like the Wolf. Hard to go past these lippies for comfort, intensity, moisture content and overall goodness ...

Another of the ModelsPrefer Artist Collection Crayons - this one is Bright Pink, and that pretty much sums it up. Love the blue content which makes it wearable with purples. #2 is Avon Mark in Berry Cute, a freebie on a mag cover. Quite impressed with this range, should have bought more mags lol! And this last one - hmmm, is it pink, or plum or purple? I stuck it here 'cos I wasn't sure, but I'm sure I love it. It's bhcosmetics Metallic Liquid Lipstick, shade Lucy - quite unique in my kit, a bit drying so not so comfortable to wear, but it's a killer colour ...

And now for the unmistakable purples  On the left is ModelsPrefer Artist Collection Crayon in Grape - has an almost ethereal glow to it.  And these next two will probably appear in every fave list - NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Creams. Adore everything about these shiny explosions of colour. Middle one is Asteroid Aura, and the one on the right is a blend of Asteroid Aura and Ultraviolet. If you love purple, comfort and shimmer, then these are for you ...

Are you fond of these colour families? If so please tell me your fave plum, berry, pink and/or purple lippy - I'm always keen to know what you gals like ...

Take care of you,
kats xxx

SPOTLIGHT: 3rd Quarter 2017 Fave LOTD's - Part 1...

It's time for another round of fave LOTD's  These are for the three months up until end September, and I'm continuing on with splitting the post into only two parts instead of four as it's the only way they'll see the light of day in 2017! So here we go with the lippies that made my personal cut...

These posts are a beaut reminder for me of the stunners that are in my collection, and I even use them as a reference when I'm ferreting around for a particular colour, and can't remember what it's called or who made it. Hope you enjoy these browns, oranges, reds, corals & nudes ...

  1. BYS Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Hot Cocoa - quite drying but I included it as it's such a fantastic brown for the cooler weather.
  2. In the second pic, I added Cosmoholic Gold Gloss over the top of the same BYS lippie to see what would happen, and I wasn't disappointed - instant shimmer and shine,  plus it made the matte product wearable in the comfort department. I love how this gloss makes any lipstick multi-dimensional and vibrant.
  3. The third one is NYX Liquid Suede - Downtown Beauty - an unusual brown with yellow/green tones, goes so well with olivey/khaki outfits ...

  1. Of course, brown doesn't have to be dark and broody, and this BYS Matte Lipstick in Espresso is the perfect cool weather shade for the not so daring - like most matte lippies it's a little drying, but a beauty for the price.
  2. The middle one is from a range that you'll be seeing a lot more of in this post - ModelsPrefer Artist Collection Crayons in the shade Bare. These little pencils are $5 for 3 from Priceline - whoa! A brilliant range of colours, you can wear them on lips, cheeks or eyes, and although they're not a standard size for a sharpener (grrrrr!) I'm able to keep the point using the large side of a Manicare one. These crayons are also terrific as lip liners - I think I bought the whole set!
  3. This last lippie I've had for ages - Nude by Nature Mineral Lipstick in the shade Sassy. Not the first time this has appeared in one of these posts, gorgeous autumnal shade, and fabulously nourishing formula ...

  1. Only a couple of oranges this time around - it's a challenge to find one that isn't streaky, but NYX has nailed it with this Cosmic Metals Lip Cream in Solar Energy - beautiful colour, beautiful formula. Love this whole range actually
  2. In the middle is another ModelsPrefer Art Crayon in a shade called Poppy - it's ever so pretty hey?
  3. And the last one is another of these crayons (see I told you there'd be lots!) - this one is Carnation, and just tips over into a red ...

  1. Oh my, the reds! Can't beat a scarlet hue for giving me a lift on a dull day, or with a monochrome outfit. On the left is Bourjois Rouge Laque in Self Peach - why oh why haven't I tried Bourjois lipsticks before? Who knows, but I'm making up for lost time - fabulous formula, amazing pigmentation, lasts for hours, total winner!
  2. Middle one is a long-time fave - Maybelline Color Sensational Fatal Red, fatally awesome.
  3. And on the right is W7 Liptember Devils Darling - even MORE intense, and a steal at $4.99, plus the proceeds go to a women's mental health initiative. I buy some of these every year ...

  1. Moving onto the starring red in my kit - L'Oreal Color Riche Moisture Matte Lipstick in Bloody Mary. I already have a spare of this wowser - if you're serious about red lippie, then you MUST get your hands on this classic hottie
  2. #2 is NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Apple Crisp - so vibrant, so comfortable, I've said before these are my all-time favourite glosses, and that's still the case.
  3. Last one is Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick in Best of the Best - really the only one in this shade family with some blue content, love it ...

  1. This darker red is ModelCo Lip Crayon in Red Velvet - I wear hardly anything from this brand, their products don't ring my bells at all, but this came in a Lip Monthly bag. It's really quite creamy, and one of the deepest reds in my collection.
  2. The second one is Maybelline Matte Lipstick in Divine Wine - divine by name, divine by nature.
  3. And lucky last is another ModelsPrefer Artist Crayon in the shade Berry. I included it here because to me it's a red rather than a berry ...

  1. This first one is in a family all its own - gee is it a mauve, a nude, a pink? Can't nail it down but it's a stunning shade - Covergirl Katy Kat Matte in Catoure. Nothing else like it in my kit - ADORE!
  2. Centre one is Hola Neon Velvet Liquid Lipstick in Party Pop, another one from Lip Monthly. I included it as it's such a gorgeous corally shade, but it's very very drying, so I may have to toss it.
  3. On the right is Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color in Flirtation - such a comfortable formula, love just about all the shades in this release ...

  1. And the final three! First up is ModelsPrefer Artist Crayon in the shade Coral - pale but ever so flattering on this old chook.
  2. Centre stage goes to So Susan Liquid Matte Long-Wear Liquid Lipstick, shade Pumpkin  - quite a mouthful but the most comfortable long lasting matte liquid I have ever tried. Survived turkish toast wth vegemite & a fried egg - thank you Lip Monthly!
  3. And finally another of the Maybelline Color Sensational Bold range - Gone Greige. I'm not a nude lover, but I'm crazy about this mushroomy beigey beauty ...

So that's it for the last quarter, which I don't know about you but it whizzed past me in a blur.  Do any of the above lippies take your fancy? Is there a favourite of yours amongst these?

Next up will be pinks, purples, plums and berries ...

Take care of you,
kats xxx
