REVIEW: Vera Wang Lovestruck Eau de Parfum...

By now you'd know that I find fragrances just as irresistible as eye shadows, and I'm a prolific sampler - it's a rare thing for me to leave a store that sells perfume without at least half a dozen of those little white cards in my handbag loaded up with whatever I've discovered. And if I fall in love with a fragrance on first sniff, it's an even rarer event for me to leave the shop without the bottle tucked into my tote. And that's precisely what happened the last time I was in Chemist Warehouse, and spotted this work of art on the "specials" stand...

I'm sure I'm not alone when it comes to adoring a fragrance BOTTLE even before spritzing the contents. Mind you I'd never buy a perfume for the bottle alone - the contents are the only criteria for my purchases, but when I'm in awe of the packaging AND the scent, well that's that! Looking at the array of fragrances on my shelf, this is by far the most beautiful. It embodies everything I go for in the design of anything - elegance, originality, balance, colour, in short, there's a strikingly creative force behind it. PLUS it's practical - remove the cap with all it's blossoms and bows and you're down to bare basics, and therefore nothing to interfere with dispensing the divine elixir ...

And now for the big reveal - what does it smell like? I'm going to stick my neck out on the chopping block here and say this is THE scent of a woman. A romantic floral with fruit chaser and an air of mystery, flower-fresh, subtle and capturing the essence of femininity. If you're looking for wham-bam, then look elsewhere - this is one of those rare fragrances that's the same at the beginning as it is a few hours later - soft, delicate, beautiful. This exquisite EDP doesn't scream for attention, in fact it doesn't even raise it's voice, yet it's far more than a whisper. I can't pick any individual ingredient, but my research tells me it's a magical blend of pink guava, angelica, tuberose and aquatic lotus flower over a base of wood and musk. Vera my dear, I am absolutely Lovestruck

The RRP of the 100ml bottle I believe is $89, but I scored this gem for $29 - Chemist Warehouse is unbeatable

Take care of you,
kats xxx

  1. Adore the bottle Kat! I prefer spicier or green fragrances, not so much into florals, but I am going to have a sniff next time in Chemist Warehouse! x

    1. Hi there Barbe! I'm a "spicy" lover for the cooler weather, but I go for fruits and florals big time in Summer - thank goodness there are so many to choose from hey ♥

  2. Ooh I might have to have a sniff of this the next time I see it! Not sure how I'll go with the woody musky base since I'm not into those scents, but if I can put up with a similar base in my bottle of Calvin Klein's DownTown, then I should be ok. I've got Hippie Princess from Vera Wang & I love the bottle as well as the scent.

    1. So pretty hey Lily - I tell you what though, when I see bargain prices like this, I start to freak out at the markup on perfume, I mean they must still be making a profit? Scary stuff, so I only buy fragrances when they're on special ha ha xxx

    1. It's really lovely Di - to be honest I'd rather it was a bit more potent, but I'm thrilled to have been able to get hold of it so cheaply ♥

  10. This scent sounds like it's perfectly blended, if you can't pick any individual notes. The bottle is gorg! I like fragrances that remain uniform throughout their wear.
