COME PLAY WITH ME: Futuristic Love...

My darling friend Gemma came up with the scathingly brilliant theme of Futuristic Love for Indie's Come Play With Me series way back in mid-September, and this is my 5th go at it - quelle horreur! I usually don't struggle too much to come up with my interpretation of the chosen theme, but for some reason or another, this one had me completely stumped, and my earlier attempts were shockers. So why did I finally settle on a pastel rainbow? Well I've seen so many movies set centuries ahead and read numerous novels that paint quite a bleak picture of the future - the landscape is often decimated, the characters in despair, and the buildings dark and gloomy. I wanted to project what I would LOVE for the future, which is a clear and colourful message of hope

I didn't include any black eyeliner or broody shadow in the crease in order to keep the look as fresh as possible - unheard of for me lol...

As with all my rainbow eye creations, I started with a base of white essence kajal, and also took it underneath my lower lashline, as well as adding it as the final touch to my waterline. I then went to town with my bhcosmetics Take Me To Brazil palette - it's one of my all-time favourites. The colours are matte but wonderfully vibrant, and they're super easy to blend...

In case you've forgotten, here's the palette again - I've marked the pans that I used...

And just for the fun of it, and to show you that it's not always a success story at kats colourings, here are a couple of my earlier attempts at this theme - I was toying with the idea of something to do with the sea and nature, but just couldn't get it to turn out how I pictured it in my head...

I'm often asked how do I fit all the shades into such a small space when I do a rainbow, and you definitely need a number of fine brushes to create this look - seven to be exact! It actually only takes a few minutes - I start by applying the green in the centre of my eyelid to make it easier to calculate the space needed to fit three more colours either side. Although in this particular instance, I decided to use the purple under my lower lashline instead of the outer corner. Before blending all the edges of the colours, I dipped my brush in Sugarpill Tako, a magnificent matte white...

Oh and in case you're wondering why my skin looks a funny colour, I've just replaced the globe in my makeup light - it's way too blue and will be swapped out stat...

What does Futuristic Love conjure up for you?

    1. Sweetheart, thanks for putting a huge grin on my face - I've just finished all the housework and sat down with a cup of tea, and here's your wondrous comment that's just restored all my energy ♥ I'm so happy you like it hon, was done in a massive rush (as are most of my looks lol) - I actually went shopping wearing these rainbow eyes ♥

  2. Kats your pastel rainbow is to die for, hun. Bring on the future, if we wear looks like this. Well, maybe not the ageing part, maybe they'll find a way to turn the clock back as far as growing older is concerned, lol. I am so glad that you included the other 2 "fails" (pffft, as if!) they are so beautiful, hun. Great job! xx

  3. I'm glad too that you included your 'fail' shots. I think you should have kept going with the second one - I reckon I CAN see where you were going.
I wouldn't give up on that look - I hope to see it in the future!

    1. You're a darling neurotichellfem - of the four that didn't work, that last one was probably the closest to the aquatic/nature idea I had, will give it another shot at some stage ♥

  5. I thought I already commented here, must be something wrong with my brain! lol
I must say this is by far my favorite eye look of yours! Only you can do a rainbow eye look but still wearable, if you know what I mean!
It reminds me of Little Pony, those cute little smiling ponies with rainbow hairs, I so love them! I'm still a kid at heart! :)
I know I always sound like a gushing kid who blabbers how much I adore your looks but you are really my favorite "eye blogger" as it's not over the top and we (adoring fans) can still relate to it and thinks your looks are manageable by us! Love it! :)

    1. My darling Smiling - I wonder if you have any idea how much your comment means to me? When I started posting my EOTD's, I was in two minds as to whether what I had to offer would be of interest to anyone. I'd seen so many magnificent eye looks on the internet (check out my Stunning Eyes Board on Pinterest!), created by goddesses with extraordinary expertise, some of them MUA's, ALL of them at least half my age (some one third) - and there was I with my wrinkles, crinkles and veiny eyes, bumbling along with what I love to do. I had no intention of trying to compete with these fabulously talented and beautiful women (as if) - I just wanted to share the passion of what I do just about every day, keeping it real, warts and all.

So to read that you can relate to what I'm doing here touches me deeply because it means I'm (still) on the right track. Thank you dear lady - I couldn't think of a more wonderful Bloggiversary gift than these words from you ♥ ♥ ♥

    1. Oh puhleeeease Hailey! You always do the most creative and technically brilliant looks, I'm putting a note in my diary for Monday, and crossing my fingers ♥ But don't feel bad for missing any of the series hon - honestly I barely made it myself this time, life is totally getting in the way of my blogging activities lol...

  8. This is so pretty, lovely! I'm so partial to a rainbow look!

I've been a bit slack with especially creative looks because I don't have much makeup with me here in Malaysia, so I've bought more! Might have to create some interesting looks to play with. :)
