Don't you just love sure bets? Nothing worse than putting in time and considerable effort into an eye look, only to have it disappoint because the colours or textures don't turn out quite as you planned. Thank goodness for my Sleek Acid palette! Hard for me to imagine a dud with this selection of shades and finishes - they are all so complementary to each other, the pigments never let me down (except for the yellow), and I can blend to my hearts content to make the exact hue I'm after ♥...
I have a huge soft spot for blue and purple together - they are side by side in the rainbow, which means that you have to try really hard to get them to NOT work lol...
While these pigments are super intense, they're also "softenable" (not a real word, but who cares hey) to a more pastel finish. I patted down a light layer of these two colours over essence white kajal, and then blended the join with a fluffy brush. I usually apply shimmery shades on the inner third and matte on the outside, but interestingly, this is the reverse. On the waterline is essence Longlasting Eye Pencil in Coolest Chic - I used very little pressure so that it would come out as a soft lavender...
For cheeks, I used the purply pink from the bhcosmetics Glamorous 10 Color Palette (this will be the one I hit pan on first - love it!), and lips are Coral Colors lipstick with Maybelline Color Elixir gloss in Mauve Mystique over the top...

What a pretty combination! Love the blue!
ReplyDeleteTP thanks so much my dear - some colours just seem to glow when they're put side by side, and I love that these two don't try to out-do each other ♥
DeleteYou sure are creating some beautiful looks with this palette. I know I'm loving the feast for the eyes that you deliver time and time again xx
ReplyDeleteSweet Indie thanks doll - I love that with this baby, I don't have to pull anything else out of my drawer ♥
DeleteI love purple & blue too! This pinkish mauve blending into navy is beautiful. I also usually do shimmer on the inner corner, matte on the outer, it's formulaic, yet it works. That doesn't mean you can't change it up, & you've got it to work well here.
ReplyDeleteHi hon, yep that matte/shimmer positioning formula is what I usually follow - I think the success of swapping it around depends on whether the colours are light or dark. I sure wouldn't put a cream or white shimmer on the outer corner with a deeper matte shade on the inside, but then again, I'll try anything once ha ha!
DeleteGorgeous as ever! I actually saw some Essence eyeliners for $1 each at Priceline recently but I resisted since I don't normally use bright coloured ones but I can see it looks really nice based on your pics!
ReplyDeleteHey there Smiling - I did a look today using a pale lime essence kajal, it's actually really pretty, doesn't have to be bold at all, and it adds just a little pop of colour. $1 each? Just as well I wasn't there, would have bought the lot ha ha! ♥
DeleteI so agree with you, it's such a disappointment when one experiments with eye makeup and shadows don't have that good pigmentation. I always adore your eye makeup, so vibrant and bold. Loved it Kat <3
