SPOTLIGHT: Summer Scents Part 3...

And finally, the colourless eau de toilettes :-) In case you missed them, Part 1 (purples) is here, and you'll find Part 2 (pinks) here :-)

Japanese Cherry Blossom by The Body Shop, eau de toilette

This has long been a fave eau de toilette. Sometimes I just want something that gives me a freshening flowery lift without making a statement, and this does the job perfectly. In fact I love the whole range and always have the shower gel and body lotion on my shelves. It's obviously a floral, but it's light and not at all sickly sweet like some "blossom" fragrances. I believe there's a bit of apple in the formula - I can't say I can detect it, but that particular ingredient is probably what tempers the sweetness to make it just the right mix :-)

Fleurs de Brignoles by L'Occitane, eau de toilette

The name translates as Plum Blossom - more sophisticated than cherry, this is a limited edition in a huge 100ml angular shaped (I think it's called a parallelogram) bottle that I managed to pick up for half price from a pharmacy. It's an inspired mix of floral & fruit with a soft powder finish, and just enough bitter almond to make it interesting. Can't imagine this scent upsetting anyone - on my skin it is light, feminine and alluring, and every sniff reminds me how wonderful it is to be a woman :-)

CK one by Calvin Klein, eau de toilette

This is the only outright green citrus in my collection, and also the only unisex fragrance that I actually enjoy. On super hot days, this is the one that cools me down. It's quite a contrast to the other girly ones on my shelf, and considering it's a toilette, really packs a punch if you overdo it. But the crispness just grabs me on days when the temperature soars, especially after physical exertion. I swear just looking at the frosted bottle makes me feel cooler ha ha. If you're looking for zesty and zingy, lemony & sporty, and don't mind something a bit fella-ish, then CK one will do it for you. I find this fragrance energising & envigorating, and definitely not romantic :-)

Well that wraps up my current warm weather fragrance faves - I'll be posting the other half of my collection around April. Of course they are far more intense than any of the ones I've showcased in this series, and they are far fewer in number, but all of them have a precious place in my heart (and nose), and I'm already looking forward to the seasonal switch.

Take care of you,
kats xxx

    1. Aww gee thanks Trish - I hope all these mini reviews are helpful. Every time I go out to find a new fragrance I just get overwhelmed by all the choices, there are so many I don't know where to start! The dish is part of one of those fragrance diffuser sets from Dusk - my dear brother gave it to me for my birthday one year. He knows me well :-)

  2. The Japanese Cherry Blossom sounds very nice, Kat !!! I love Cherry Blossom fragrance !!! The closest I have had is the Cherry Blossom Talc by Avon which I love. I think there's a Body Shop at my local shopping centre. I must check this fragrance out. Thanks so much, Kat.

    1. Well they're all a little different AG, but The Body Shop one is the prettiest I'm smelt so far - so happy and light! I'm going to check out the Avon one though - if you love it, I've a feeling I'll love it too xxx

  4. Kat,
I have not seen a fragrance by Avon called Cherry Blossom. It was the fragrance of their Cherry Blossom talcum powder that I was referring to that I love. However, they should make a fragrance based on this talcum powder because it is delightful !!!
Have you noticed that Avon sometimes have such wonderful smelling body products which if converted into a fragrance, I'm sure would be a best seller ?

    1. Sure have Arty - in fact there are quite a few companies that do great smelling products like scrubs or body washes that I WISH were available as fragrances too :-)

  5. Kat, I tried the Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom today and though it was very nice it was not as I was hoping. For some reason, I expected it to be more Cherry Blossom smelling which is odd since I have never smelled Cherry Blossoms, LOL !!! It was not distinctive enough for me.

However, due to your description of CK's Eternity, I finally tried it out and I love it !!! I kept walking around the shopping centre, wafting the scent strip before my nose. I loved it so much that I have splurged and bought myself a bottle. However, I feel that I got a bargain at $29 for a 100ml EDP. So thank you so much ,Kat, for introducing me to it in your Blog. If not for you, I would never have tried it :) !!! Even my Hubby agrees that the fragrance is like none I've owned before !!!
