Have you ever had it happen that when you do your makeup, everything (and I mean everything) works out just right? I can assure you, those days are few and far between for me. Despite creating an EOTD every working day of the week (which comes to around 20 different looks in a month), it's an EXCEPTIONALLY rare event for me to be completely satisfied with every single part of what I put together. But...the planets must have been aligned in the heavens yesterday because I finally FINALLY came up with what I would consider a winner in every department...
My usual epic fail is in the lash arena - they're spindly, short and blonde, and even with three (or more) coats of fibre mascara, they're barely visible for the camera. So I recommenced my RapidLash treatment about a month ago, and the effects are starting to kick in (note: I'll be reviewing this absolutely BRILLIANT product in the weeks ahead). Secondly I've been struggling with a couple of eyelash curlers that just weren't cutting the mustard any more. After years of promises, at last I treated myself to a Shu uemura curler - not the usual cult classic one that I've been lusting after for yonks, but one of their new-fangled "s" curlers. Well I tell you I started to think I'd bought a lemon because I simply couldn't get it to work...until yesterday, when joy of joys, I got the hang of it - woo hoo! (I'l be reviewing this nifty little gadget soon too.) Combined with a wee bit more length and volume from RapidLash, I'm over the moon at the difference in the end result - it actually looks like I have eyelashes lol!
I was also deliriously happy with the colour combination I chose - fuchsia, deep blue and soft spring green from the bhcosmetics Take Me To Brazil palette...
Underneath the pink I used a Nabi Lipliner Pencil in Dark Fuchsia, and for the blue base I applied essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Cool Down. On the waterline is another essence pencil (and one of my all time faves) I Have a Green. In the crease, I applied Villan from the Sleek V2 matte palette...
And THEN, if all that wasn't exciting enough, I tried out my latest lip passion - L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Extraordinaire in Fuchsia Drama. Holey moley, it's such a wonderfully rich and vibrant pink, and the formula is sensationally slick, glossy and hydrating. I've bought three of these so far, and I'm head over heels IN LOVE! And yes, I'll be reviewing them soon too ♥
On a side note, I've been super busy ALL WEEK giving my blog an anniversary colour scheme make-over - just a little one, but my aim was to freshen things up a bit, and make the whole thing easier for you lovelies to read. It's a work in progress, but I would LOVE to know what you think of the new look so far ♥
Take care of you,
kats xxx
I could see from your Beautyheaven forum post, this look was special. Yes!
ReplyDeleteBlues & greens look great together, & with the pink/blue overlap you've got some purple in the mix,
Pink eyeshadow is so flattering I don't know why it's not more commonly used. (I sure use it!)
We've got the hands down winner for the eye of the month already. Everything HAS come together, the lashes look great.
I can't wait for the Shu Uemera 'S' curler review. I keep saying I can't afford it, but the thought won't leave me alone. I want to know how long the curl lasts.
Great look Kat!
I think a lot of gals are scared of pinks hon - I find I have to be meticulous with the placement or it looks like I haven't slept for weeks, but in the right spot, it can be dazzling. So glad you can see a difference in my lashes - I'm ecstatic! The shu uemera "S" curler is fabulous once you get used to it - btw my lashes looked the same when I got home, and it's only $18 ♥
DeleteBeautiful as always Kats! ×××
ReplyDeleteCongrats on buying a Shu curler :) I've wanted one myself for ages! I'm so glad you got it to work and can't wait to read your review hun.
Your eye creation is stunning. Pink, blue and green....what a gorgeous combo. And I love how you have matched your shirt with your lippy and earrings. Your lips are so glossy :D You look so beautiful!!
♥♥♥ Gemma ♥♥♥ The Shu uemera curler was a special "moi" treat hon, and one you should definitely give to yourself - this new one is only $18, which is what I paid for my Manicare gold plated version. I'll do my best to post a review of it this week :-) A bounty of blushworthy comments from you babe, thanks so much treasure ♥
DeleteI absolutely love the color combo!! Your eyes are so beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteDarla my dear thank you so much - this palette is ab fab, I think I only paid $10 for it ♥
DeleteThe colour combo is such a winner, Kat. Your lashes look amazing. Congrats on your curler purchase, I am so glad that you got it to work for you. It's such a terrible feeling when you make an investment, and it is so hard to master. But when it works, what an amazing feeling!
ReplyDeleteI do love the new layout, hun xx
Indie honey thanks ever so - this time around I'm sticking to the RapidLash forever ha ha! For a while there I was kicking myself for not buying the standard curler from SU - much relieved that I could finally work out the best technique, it's a beauty if you have short lashes. And I SO appreciate your feedback on the new blog look :-)
DeleteOh those colours look so beautiful on you kats. Really loving that look.
ReplyDeleteI so want to know more about the lashes.......I have short, blondey, minimal lashes. I usually have to do about two different mascaras to make my lashes look like I do have them lol. I definitely want to know more and yes.......you can see the difference in your photo on the end.
Delighted you like it Mandy girl, and that you can see the improvement in my usual lashlessness lol. Can THOROUGHLY recommend RapidLash serum - I've used it before, and it costs a bit for the first two tubes (applied daily), but you see obvious results after 4 weeks, then after that, one tube lasts me a whole year, I call it "maintenance". I'll be doing a review soon, and of the lash curler too hon ♥
