EOTD: Black and Blue!...

So to kick off May, I decided to go extra bold (just for a change lol). Early last month, I created a look for the Come Play With Me series, and only for the second time in my long life, I lined my waterline with BLACK. Although it might not seem all that startling for some of you young'uns, for me it was a brave move, and strictly for a special occasion - I've always regarded it as just too stark for someone with light coloured eyes like mine. But then I figured what the hell? I don't have much time left before I wake up one morning and think I'm too old to be doing what I haven't done before, so I threw caution to the wind and added black gel on the waterline to contrast with some stunning BLUE shadows by DB...

I've had this Bold palette for more years than I can remember, but it's still holding it's own, and especially these blue pans. The top one is matte and I patted it over the top of MNY Colour Tattoo Metal in Electric Blue. Along the top lashline, I used the bottom one which is quite shimmery and  has an almost aqua reflect, and also stroked this underneath the eye to brighten the look...

On the waterline, I applied black gel from the Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips stack for blue eyes (because it lasts so well)...

By this stage, it was all looking a bit potent, even for me...

But once I added a bright lip and hid behind the safety of my glasses, I actually couldn't see what all the fuss was about ha ha...

So my dears, how do you feel about using black on your waterline? Is it something you do often, or not at all?

Take care of you,
kats xxx

  1. Wowzers this is stunning! Look at that vibrant, rich, vivid, amazing blue - I can't stop staring at the gorgeous colour! Love the pairing with the bright pink lips too, very pretty :)

I don't use black on my waterline as I find it too harsh for me but it looks dazzling on you, what a great mentality you had this morning!

    1. So happy you like it themissus - it really is a stunning shade, and never fails to come out beautifully bold. I think this is one of the first multi-coloured palettes I ever bought when I started this eye makeup caper a few years ago - it was around $15 at a discount chemist, and one of my best ever bargain buys :-)

  3. I love the blues Kat and they look so fantastic on you! They are so punchy and vibrant....gorgeous colours :D
You look fantastic with a black waterline too. It really does suit you well and you have nothing to worry about at all. I know you're not worried sweety but you know what I mean....it's out of your comfort zone. But I just want you to know you have no reason to feel that way, a black water line makes the other pretty colours you have chosen burst out and say "LOOK AT ME!!!" And never once have I thought it is no good for your light eyes. I always think your EOTD work is stunning!
P.S I am still thinking about your blog post on Beauty Heaven yesterday. It was absolute perfection. Those bh girls better be worried that you could soon be offered their jobs!

    2. Wow January! I didn't realise it took so long for Blogstar winners posts to be published. If I had a guest post given to me like that I'd publish it immediately. Too good to keep hidden for so long!
Love and hugs straight back to you Kats. You perfect blogstar!

  4. Kat, you need to do more looks like this stunning one. I absolutely love it. You are so lucky, the black actually accentuates your look. Often black on my waterline is too stark. Oh, and blue on your eyes is divine, ok, so what colour isn't??? xx

    1. Indie my dear friend, thanks so much for what you've said - I really treasure your comments ♥ It's quite funny when I think about how long it took me to work up the courage to use black eye liner, let alone put it on my waterline - one of these days I'm going to try false eye lashes, now that will be something ha ha! Big kiss sweetheart XXX
