CONFESSIONS: of a Scrubaholic (Part 2)...

Following on from Part 1, here's a quick review of the remaining four scrubs - one of them is my absolute fave...

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub

Blimey the name of this stuff is quite a mouthful, but what bliss it is! I don't suffer from acne, but I LOVE the fragrance of this so much, and I don't find it harsh at all, even though it contains Salicylic Acid. The mulberry one in this range seems to be have been discontinued (boo!), so this fruity face freshener is now my #1. Honestly if I could only have one scrub, this would be it. The consistency is perfect (not too runny or thick), the beads are superfine, and I just can't get enough of the fabulous pink grapefruit fragrance! I recently reviewed it on beautyheaven and gave it 5 stars...

Nivea 2 in 1 Wash & Scrub

A nice little hybrid product, it's an effective cleanser with minimal micro scrub particles that are gentle and non-drying, and the gel base has that familiar Nivea fragrance. I've almost finished the tube, and while it works well and I haven't had any adverse reactions, I probably won't purchase it again mainly because it isn't a stand out in my collection - there are other brands that deliver a little more exfoliating oomph, and to be honest I'm just not that keen on the soapy smell...

St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub

I've been a St. Ives scrub fan for almost 10 years, and always have at least one of the range in my shower. Once again this is a blemish control formula, and it helps keep the blackheads on my nose under control. It's definitely a heavy duty scrub, and I believe the granules are actually ground up apricot kernels which don't dissolve as you exfoliate, although they do soften as you massage it in. Smells delish and really shifts the flaky skin cells, and I use it every 8-10 days or so - doesn't give my combo complexion the slightest bit of grief, but it may be a tad strong for anyone with overly dry skin. I gave it 5 stars when I reviewed it a while back...

Swisse Polish Face Exfoliant

As the name suggests, this is more of a polish than a scrub. I bought it because I wanted something exceptionally gentle that didn't contain any harsh chemicals to give my skin a break every few days, and I wasn't disappointed. Containing no animal products, parabens, petroleum, silicones or mineral oils, it's actually chock full of natural ingredients. The fine scrub particles are bamboo, and there's also sugar maple, myrrh, orange, bilberry, pomegranate...blimey the list goes on and on. The consistency is quite runny but it foams into a creamy low fragrance lather - incredibly gentle and leaves my skin soft and supple. At $9.95 this is great value and I will definitely be repurchasing...

Since taking the original photo, I've added yet ANOTHER scrub to my collection and no doubt there'll be more over the next few months, but I'll save them for Part 3 :-)

Are any of these scrubs your favourite?

Take care of you,
kats xxx

  2. These scrubs sound delightful! Keen on trying the Clean and Clear Morning Burst to help wake me up in the mornings and the Swisse one is surprisingly affordable :)

Thanks for the mini reviews! You have a lovely collection, my exfoliant collection consists of the Dermalogica Microfoliant (absolute favourite) and the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub, so a grand total of 2!

    1. Oooh themissues, Dermalogica Microfoliant is also my HG, I just wish it wasn't so pricey. I'm out of it at the mo' but I treat myself to it in the cooler months when my skin always becomes drier - there's really nothing else out there that's as effective AND gentle xxx

    1. Lol Sarah I remember a time when St. Ives was the only brand on my shelf - I used to alternate between the gentle one and the original, never had a problem with either of them :-)
