CONFESSIONS: of a Body Washaholic (Part 1)...

Yep time to fess up to another one of my addictions. Hard to believe that four years ago, I had ONE cake of soap on my shower shelf. These days I'm a total convert to luscious liquid latherers, and as a result, I have to have four of those hanging wire shelf units to hold all my bottles - methinks I may have to invest in more if my passion continues to blossom at the current rate, although I'll probably need another bathroom first...

There's only 12 bottles in this pic, simply because that's all I can fit in my bathroom at any one time! As you can see almost half of them are by Palmolive - I'm an avid fan of their washes and gels. They seem to know exactly what fragrances I adore, and out of the selection available at the supermarket, this is the brand that I buy over and over again. Actually now that I can see them all lined up, the majority of my body washes are fruit scented - I do find the freshness of fruity fragrances so invigorating, wakes me up and gets my day started just right...

I'll review all these individually, and as is my way I've grouped them by COLOUR (how odd hey?) so let's get on with the details...

Palmolive Invigorating Pomegranate & Mango Shower Gel

This shower gel is what got me started on my passionate body wash journey of discovery. It was the first one I fell utterly and completely in love with. At the time my bathroom had red accents, and I bought it mainly for the colour. But on first wash, I was a goner - this is just so unbelievably refreshing! The fruity fragrance combo is such a delight, and I'm fascinated by the little moisture beads that are suspended in the gel. I love that it's not too sudsy either ♥ Not in the least bit drying, I'm over the moon that it comes in such a giant bottle for around $8 - it's a problem child in my shower though because it's just SO heavy and bulky, but I decant the liquid into a small squirty container so that I've got room for all the others :-) Warning: It's quite runny so you'll need to be careful when dispensing onto a flannel or else you'll waste a fair bit. My beautyheaven review of it (from 2010!) is here...

Juliet (Aldi) Indulge Palm Milk & Pomegranate Exfoliating Body Wash

I spotted this at Aldi a few weeks ago, and for less than $3, thought I'd give it a shot. It's a nice thick consistency, bright berry red with some gentle grainy bits for sloughing the skin, and it's not too heavy on the sudsing side of things, but the fragrance is disappointing. I guess you get what you pay for, and I reckon it's supposed to be a dupe of the Lux one below, but the scent is kind of sugary sweet rather than fruity fresh. So although I'll probably use this up, I won't be buying it again...

Lux Tahitian Escape Pomegranate Seeds & Palm Milk Exfoliating Body Wash

This is another one I adore, and have purchased many times. You may have already guessed I'm a bit of a pomegranate passionista, and this one never fails to lift my spirits, or cleanse my bod in a revitalising way. The grainy bits in it are firm but sparse, so it's quite gentle and yet very effective for giving the skin surface a good exfoliation, while moisturising at the same time. The best of both worlds hey? This is 100% soap free and ph balanced, and if you're into tropical scents, you're guaranteed to love this. My beautyheaven review is here...

Lux Tropical Sunset Soft & Silky Mango & Grapefruit Oils Body Wash

Another beauty from Lux - this one takes me off to Hawaii every time I use it (not that I've ever been there, but you know what I mean). Mango is another scent that's close to my heart (or rather...my nose) in the shower department. This luscious liquid is non-drying and the fragrance has a real zing to it - more mango than grapefruit, but the balance of the two fruits is a masterful concoction. And although this strikes me as a summertime body wash, I'll continue to use it throughout the cooler months to keep me going with the promise of sunshine and warmth on the other side of winter...

Edit: Part 2 is up now too :-)

Are you a body wash/shower gel nut? What's your favourite shower time indulgence?

Take care of you,

kats xxx

  1. I'm so happy to see that I'm not alone! I've got so many shower gels in my shower. I've put myself on a shower gel spending ban until I use some up! I tend to buy a lot of Palmolive ones too. I reckon they are awesome value for money. I think my absolute favourite would be Lush Snow Fairy.

    1. Rose honey I remember you said you had 12 body washes in your caravan (!) and I thought "well I don't have quite that many", but I do lol! I read your review of Lush Snow Fairy back in January and can't wait for next Christmas to try it :-)

    2. You might not have to wait til Christmas to try Snow Fairy. I'm told that they also have it for Christmas in July. Apparently they don't have huge quantities of it, and it sells out pretty quickly, but OMG WOW I'll definitely be getting some more.

    3. Oh yay Rose, thanks a bunch hon! July is not that long away - there's a Lush near me (fortunately) so I'll keep a close watch. I'm absolutely intrigued as to what it smells like xxx

    1. Lol Sarah, I don't mind enabling body wash purchases - at least they don't break the bank hey? Haven't done the "sniff" test on the Milk & Honey one, but I sure will now. Thanks for letting me know hon ♥

    1. What? A body wash from Lux that I haven't tried? Eek Sam, I haven't even heard of this let alone seen it for sale anywhere that I frequent - is it available from Priceline? I MUST have it, sounds divine with black orchid and juniper, plus it's...PURPLE ha ha. Thanks for letting me know hon :-)

  4. You have such a beautiful collection of body washes gracing your bathroom shelf, Kat. At this stage I only buy what shower gel that's on special, only because the kids waste so much, I'd hate for a beautiful product to go down the drain!

    1. Well I don't blame you Indie, I'd be the same - thankfully these are all reasonably priced, actually that's the only way I can afford so many ♥

  5. Kats, once again you have proven to me that you are a lady after my own heart! I have always been passionate about soap and body products, including bath gels, creams, and body lotions/butters. I have had this passion about soap since I was a child, according to my parents! I have a selection of body washes on my shelf and also like the fruity ones for an energising lift in the mornings. I like both high end and low end brands in this department. I can't say I have a favourite as there are too many that I like. The Body Shop's cherry blossom is lovely and I think you have mentioned that you like it as well (possibly on BH). For something indulgent, Molton Brown has some fabulous ones which I buy when I can from Strawberrynet. Love the way you arranged your body washes by colour! x

    1. Lol roxy, thanks for letting me know of your lather-love hon - it's always a pleasure to find out you share a passion with someone else ♥ Yes the Body Shop Cherry Blossom is third from the right in the above pic, the last bottle from my stash that Flaming Beauty picked up for me on sale. Mmmm Molton Brown, must check them out - there's always room for one more :-)

  6. I don't have a shower gel addiction ... yet. At the moment, I'm using a jasmine body wash from Al'chemy. I also like buying an unscented natural body wash and adding my own essential oils to it.

  9. OMG>>>>>>> I wouldn't have room in our shower for all the bottles lol. I've never actually tried one but now you have given me the incentive to at least try. Have to find one that won't upset with my medication so will be browsing through all yours kats to pick out which ones I could use.
