COME PLAY WITH ME: Unleash the Artist Within...

Well it's round three of IndieAna's "Come Play With Me" series ♥ And this time the utterly gorgeous Gemma from Lady Sapphire Blog has chosen the theme: Unleash the Artist Within. And what a stunning look she came up with! Crikey talk about setting the bar sky high for the rest of us gals... I've been racking my brain for days trying to come up with something...creative, and that I could wear to work without freaking everyone out. And then I thought...what if I did a look that I normally would NEVER do, using NO colours, AND black on my waterline? I use rainbow hues every day on my eyes, sometimes up to three or four in the one look, so to keep things monochrome was quite an artistic leap for me...

Having decided on a virtually colourless theme, I cheated a little and didn't use a stark white - with my ancient eyes, I was already pushing my luck with the black liner(!), so I opted for a shimmery cream. I used Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Too Cool as a base all over the lid and underneath, and then loaded it up with a gold-flecked cream from the MUA Blue Babe trio palette. I lined both lashlines with MNY Master Precise Liquid Liner, and then added Black Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Gel Liner on the waterline...

I was wearing a cream and black outfit (really? ha ha!) and went with a sassy red lip so I didn't look too washed out. Oh if only I'd been brave enough to add some black polka dots to my eyes!

What surprised me was how this neutral creamy shadow brought out the green of my irises - go figure!?!

I'm absolutely BUSTING to see what IndieAna, Hailey, and Courtney come up with - and with a bit of luck, some other clever gals will join in too :-)

Gemma's explosion of colour and delight is here
Holey guacemole, take a look at the extraordinary artistic talents of Hailey from The Beauty in Life - it's positively mind boggling!
Oh yay, IndieAna's brilliant contribution is up - you just have to check out this fiercely feline catwoman!

Take care of you,
kats xxx

  4. This is brilliant, Kats. So "YOU" but in keeping with the theme which would have taken some doing, I imagine. Absolutely lovely.
    With a big hug,
    Trish.

    1. My beloved Trish, it was a challenge to NOT use colours, believe me I was so tempted to do all sorts of rainbowy things - thank you my love for your insightful comment, and all the love you constantly send my way xxx

  5. Kat, I love how this look is artistic, yet when we see your full face it doesn't look OTT. This look actually makes your eyes the masterpiece, the black and white framing them beautifully. Well done! I have an idea, but it's totally not wearable, so I''ll have to do it over the weekend :)

    1. It surprised me too Indie - I did this at 5:30 in the morning and wondered how it would be received at the office, but nobody even noticed! You're absolutely right, with the whole face (and the distracting red lips lol) it's doesn't look all that weird. Take your time babe, there's no hurry at all, even though I CAN'T WAIT to see your fabulous creation xxx

  6. Oh Kats, all eye shadow looks wonderful on you! This is so brightening and cheery despite the lack of colour. The cream totally softens the black eyeliner! I know how harsh a bold, black waterline can look on my eyes so that's a very cool trick to have the shimmery cream below the black :)

This is such a great tag - loving everyone's creations. And that lip colour is PERFECT, very pretty and it complements the look really nicely. xo
